Cozy little restaurant that serves fish and chips. Really convenient and close to the water/locks. Met with friendly staff and service. Had their 2 piece halibut and requested the poutine as the side. Halibut was good. A little greasy but we went right at noon when it was opening. Still the batter was light and crispy and the poutine was melty, gooey with plenty of gravy. No issues when asking for plenty of tartar sauce. Point to mention, restrooms are in the basement so might not be easily accessible for those who have mobility issues. read more

Great service. Quality of food was good; however, we were a bit disappointed with the overall quality of the halibut. Breading was good but not exceptional, and the flavour wasn't as I had hoped--rather flat and tasteless. Live music was really great. read more

Went there tonight with my 17 month old that was just diagnosed with celiac disease, they were very helpful and accommodating. We were staying nearby at Fenelon Falls and decided to stop by the town of Bobcaygeon for lunch before our long road trip. If you're looking for the same decor as a Texas roadhouse, you've found the right place. The interior is decorated with guns, bull horns, you name it... The interior is surprisingly deep. We had a hard time getting seated because the waitresses were serving customers in the back. We wanted a small lunch, so we ordered the 1-piece haddock and chips ($9.50) and the shrimp bake ($8.50). We were disappointed with the size of the shrimp bake. It looked deep, but was instead cooked on top of a tall escargot dish. What you're getting is 6 shrimps covered in cheese. The haddock and chips were pretty good. The batter was light and crispy. The fish inside was flaky, mostly juicy, with some areas that were dry. We actually had better (and cheaper) fish and chips in Fenelon Falls the previous day. Service was attentive. read more

Love this place. Been coming for 20 years and so happy it's open during all of this COVID stuff. Eating on the patio is great but PLEASE do something about the bees and flies. We have eaten 4 or 5 times on the patio and again I love it and if I could give 6 stars out of 5 I would do it but maybe get rid of all the flower boxes surrounding the patio or spray for bees and flies but when we have 6 or more bees circuiting all our drinks and 10-20 flies on our table it's just not right. read more

Just for the Halibut as seen on @yougottaeathere . Bobcaygeon Gem! Of course I had to order the Halibut which was fried to perfection The one piece served with chips & coleslaw was more than enough food for me ($13.99 market price.) We also had the crab cakes which I personally didn't enjoy but my SIL orders them every time. My only wish is that they made their own tartar sauce, but after 40 years I'm sure they won't be switching it up anytime soon. The family run restaurant staff were super friendly, they went above and beyond to ensure everyone was happy (including serving us small plate of fries straight away for the unhappy little one at our table.) I had the halibut and chips and the fish was very good. What bothers me though is the micro portion of coleslaw. It was literally 2 fork fulls. And they served tarter sauce in prepackaged packs. Really a place like this can't make there own tarter sauce??? It's very disappointing to shell out $23.00 for fish and get pre packaged condiments especially if you seated in their restaurant, it's just not right. We've been customers of this location for years. This evening we brought a couple of friends along. The service was terrific, especially given the shortage of staff Not sure if it's the lack of cooking staff or some other change but the food was very disappointing. The fries were overdone and the batter much too thick and greasy. Hope they can pull it together. read more

Not sure what all the hype and where the good reviews come from? We asked many locals and read the reviews and expected a great meal, but we were very disappointed. Before I get into it let me say the service was very good and if it wasn't for them I would give this place one star. It was also a hot evening and the AC did not cool the place, I was sweating my _ _ _ off. We had an order of clam chowder and it was a terrible mess, lots of potatoes with a gooey roux and no clams or any type of seafood. It was like a thick gooey potato paste with little flavour. We also had an order of muscles which was nothing more than a bunch of muscles cooked with a slab of butter, and little flavour except for the muscle juice mixed in with the butter. So far nothing impressive and trending towards disappointing. One of our orders of grilled halibut was raw and cold to the point of being frozen in the center when it came to the table. So this place uses frozen fish, not fresh. It was made right immediately, but serving raw fish in a seafood restaurant is inexcusable. So in the end we were not impressed and very disappointed that we wasted one of our vacation meals on this place. read more

My husband and I stopped by for dinner last night. It was extremely busy but we were sat right away! The service was amazing and the food was to die for!! The waitress was very friendly, our dood came pretty quick and she made sure we were happy on numerous occasions. We had the coconut shrimp to start. They were delicious! We both had the halibut and chips, the portios were perfect, the breading was perfect (not too thick or soggy at all!) And the gravy was perfect! We loved it here and will definitely be back!! Wow! Just had an amazing dinner here on route to a friends cottage. Our server Cindy was awesome. Hubby had halibut and fries. I had small greek salad with salmon... Loads of feta, delish homemade dressing and beautiful poached salmon. Will be back! read more

Precious gems are rare and hard to find! Found this place on Yelp and info provided was accurate and helpful even allowing me to message the place and make reservations on a day when they were closed. The online menu was impressive with a lot of good choices. We arrived today and parked right in front FREE! The place is very pretty and quaint, inside was extremely well decorated and clean, (we were in the cleaning business and notice these things) I order the seniors steak and the wife ordered shrimp in a basket. WOW! Steak was great, fries were the best we have had, inside was as soft as mashed and the outside crispy so when you bite you'll hear a crunch. We now wish we lived in Bobcaygeon as we would go there a lot, as it is we will visit once in a while. Waitress was efficient, pleasant and not over bearing. Superb to find this gem. read more

I am very disappointed in this restaurant. I have been going here for a very long time. I was up there the other day and thought I missed having it. Staff are the same, same lady I have seen for over 20 years. I gave up fried food. So I got a BLT with chicken. When it arrived no chicken fine I'll eat it. I had the first and only piece way too much grease. Fine I take it home for my husband. Bill comes unfortunately I didn't see it until after we left. But the change me for BLT with chicken not a plan one. $11.00. The family I was with we're also disappointed. The quality of food has gone downhill a lot. read more

Nice decor. Very friendly staff. She was very attentive. I had the cheese shrimp to start and the husband had breaded mushrooms. I was a little disappointed with the shrimp. There just wasn't enough of them but the sauce was delicious and the mushrooms were home breaded. For the meal the husband had the bacon cheddar burger and a pulled pork poutine. Both with great and big serving. I had the lobster / crab cakes and the seafood chowder. The crab cakes were great flavour but they were mush. No solid meats pieces. And the chowder which claims was a secret recipe is left over vegetables and a very bland. I added vinegar, hot sauce, salt and pepper and it was okay after that. The price was great and generally enjoyed it. We will go again! read more

Best restaurant in Bobcaygeon. Not just for fish and chips. I think they do everything very well. For as mobbed as they get the service is excellent. The owner is a very nice guy and he works the room like a rockstar. I was wearing my bowler so he gave me an Original J 4 Halibut white ball cap. Very nice and in NO way influenced my Woohoo review. read more

Good food I've always gotten takeout sometimes it's a hit, sometimes a miss. Have gotten poutines, a burger, and fish and chips. They didn't give the mushy peas we ordered which was disappointing.. and once they gave our poutine to someone else and they ended up chasing them to come back and switch the order. Lol. read more

I've been here twice and enjoyed both my visits. The food is delicious and the staff is very friendly. The first time I went, the staff had brought the wrong order and when I informed her that she brought the wrong thing, she was very polite and apologetic. Also their ice tea is delicious. read more

On August 7th 2016 my husband and I decided to get takeout from here..we ordered two 1piece halibut dinners $10.50 each and a lg greek salad..took it home , opened it up and omg..the pieces of fish were so small and completely dried out..fries were limp and cold..so disappointed...the only good thing was the greek salad..very good! I won't be going back here or recommending it to anyone I know. read more

Six of us stopped here for lunch on a Thursday a couple weeks ago while on a houseboat vacation. The place was highly recommended at the marina and a pleasant walk from the lock. The server was very friendly and well-paced. The decor was a bit drab. The food was only so-so. The crab and lobster cakes had a strong sour taste. The rest of the food was mediocre. They also offer a very nice back larger patio that is between a parking lot and the river, so face the river if you can. We ended up eating inside. While friendly, our waitress was either a little new, or did not have a good understanding of the menu. We were told they were out of grapes and onion rings. After scanning the menu to try and determine what impact this would have.... we couldn't locate anything that contained grapes. Again, we asked what they were out of and were told grapes. Was she saying crepes? Well, couldn't find those either. Oh well. I ordered the Grilled Lake Pickerel with Mushroom Lemon Cream Sauce on house blend rice with a local Muskoka beer. Now I feel a little bad here..... Although the wait staff was very friendly, and did make a good effort, I don't think they were up to par with the prices and the gourmet atmosphere that they are going for here. At 24 dollars for my entree.... I was looking to be wow'd. The beer was on tap, but also wasn't that cold. The fish was very good.... but again, think this should of been more of a 16-19 dollar entree and not 24. My father asked if they had any Grey Goose and the waitress looked at my father very strangely and said no. Did she think we were actually asking for a grey goose? Like, to eat? It was okay, and the waitress made a good effort. Everyone finished their meal and said it was "okay". The location is very beautiful and I would probably go back, simply because in a small town, your options are limited, but I had really been hoping to get a wow out of the place. I would recommend going to this restaurant as a couple and get a spot on one of those private patios.... that alone would be worth it. So gorgeous. Split a nice bottle of wine, and have some fairly decent food.
