Our first impression was he was very professional and knows what he is doing when it comes to fishing. He took us fishing for 3/4 days with his clean and spacious fishing boat. We caught lots of snook, trout, and snapper. You can tell he has many years of experience and takes pride in letting his clients have the best experience by watching us cast our lines meticulously. His equipment were first class and the boat was very stable. The weather was not so promising that day but he made sure were safe. Luckily, we were able to get back into land without getting rained on. I want to highlight that he did not try to catch a fish himself that day because he focuses on his clients and coaches them how to be successful. If you're looking for someone who takes fishing seriously and maybe acquire some fishing skills from someone with many years of experience, Captain Shen is the guy you're looking for. My husband booked us a 4 hour fishing charter with AMI Charters because our little guy wanted to go…read morefishing for the first time. We received a confirmation the day before our charter from Captain Scott, who told us where to meet, what to bring, and who our Captain would be that day. Luckily the day of our charter it was beautiful. We were going out of the Coquina Beach boat ramp. There appeared to be plenty of parking, a dock, and some rather clean porta potties (hey when you gotta go, you gotta go). Captain Tony was our captain that day and he was ready to go at 8:30am on the button. We grabbed our things, he helped us in, and explained where we'd be going for inner coastal fishing. He explained where everything was on the boat. He also took the time to ask us our names and how old our little guy was. He pointed out that the best seats in the house were the two beanbag chairs at the front of the boat. Both me and my little guy scooped those up, leaving my husband to a regular bench seat (sorry, not sorry). We heated out into the open ocean and my kiddo was just smiling the entire time, enjoying the wind in his face and going fast. We drove for about 10 minutes and Captain Tony landed on a spot. He explained to us how to properly hold the fishing pole, when to cast, how to stop the line, and when to reel the line in. He wanted our little guy to catch the first fish, and no sooner did our kiddo put his pole in the water he caught a fish. He reeled it in and caught a leopard looking grouper (the first fish of the day.....they weren't in season so we got a pic of him with his fish and then set the fish free). My kiddo did it again and again.....caught fish after fish! He even caught a few snappers that were in season that Captain Tony filleted, so we could take them home and cook. Captain Tony showed me and my husband how to fish, my first attempt and I caught a grouper, then another grouper, and another, and a few snappers. We also caught ourselves a black-tailed shark. Captain Tony put him on the boat, and we each got to hold the shark. Not only was he heavy, he had roughest skin (ever heard of lotion?). Captain Tony baited all our lines for us, he was helpful, he really tended to all of us and was just a pleasure to be around. After about 3 hours of fishing, we went to sandbar for the 4th hour, where Capt. Tony could fillet our fishes, and we could swim and explore the island. It was relaxing. This was a really great experience, super kid friendly, and made my kiddo a fishing fanatic! This was a great experience!

We went to a sand bar and scooped up live sand dollars (carefully) and a huge whelk and whelk eggs. It was a very different tour than last year, but she was so adaptable and obviously knows the area/ is incredibly knowledgeable about the bay, the homes along the water, and all the animals within. We'll be back with her next year!!!

On Christmas Day, I headed to Bradenton Beach Pier, basking in the sunshine and breathing in that salty air. The best part was there was hardly any crowds. So parking was easy, stress was nonexistent, and peace and tranquillity were the vibes. The real locals were out in full force, the egrets, and other local birds were checking out the people strolling the pier or fishing. Not much was open because it was Christmas, I'm not added to the charm. It felt peaceful, unhurried, and exactly how I wanted my holiday to be. Spending Christmas here during the off-season was a five star reminder that sometimes quiet is the best gift.

My family was vacationing in Anna Maria Island, and we wanted to do some sort of boat trip while we…read morewere there. We've done tours on other trips to other places, but I really didn't want to be on a big boat with lots of strangers. When I saw this tour, and all the great reviews, I knew this was what we needed to do. Susan was great handling the booking (I booked a month or so in advance, which was good so that we could get the time/day we wanted!) They did an excellent job of following up on the booking, then confirming the day before and making sure they knew what we wanted and answered our last minute questions. Parking at their storefront was easy, and the boat itself is just across the street. We showed up a few minutes early to be outfitted for snorkel gear which was quick and easy. It was a bright and sunny day, and Mike had us head out to Egmont Key so that we could explore the island. What was really awesome was that they didn't expect you to jump off the front of the boat (unless you wanted to of course!), they had steps that you could use that were quick and easy (and with a bad back, very necessary). It was a super hot day, so he gave us bottles of water, explained the layout of the island and off we went to explore. We saw some turtles, the lighthouse, and the fort ruins, and then had a nice walk on the beach before re-boarding the boat. He then took us just a little ways off shore to some rocky ruins in the water and got us out snorkeling. They have pool noodles if you just want to float, and they also had a big floating mat that you could lay on if you wanted! When we had our fill we climbed back on board and we were off to Passage Key. The water around Passage Key is amazingly clear - even waist deep you could pretty well see the all the way down. This area was very sandy, but the bottom was covered with hundreds and hundreds of sand dollars. You could feel them just under the sand when you walked, and you could then dig them out with your toes or just go under water and grab them. The key is that you cannot take any live ones - so if they are brown and fuzzy you have to put them back. We trolled around digging up sand dollars for quite some time - we must have dug up hundreds, but that day we only managed to come across one white, dead sand dollar that we could keep (but we did find several gorgeous "sunset" shells that were cool!) At this point we climbed back into the boat and saw that a thunderstorm was approaching in the distance, so we headed back for the marina. We were disappointed that we didn't get to see any manatee that day, but we knew that you can't always plan for that. We arrived at the marina just as a few drops were falling so the timing was perfect!! We booked the 4 hour tour so that we would not be hurried, and we used every minute of it - I wouldn't have changed a thing. You absolutely need to book this tour - why share an experience with a bunch of strangers when you can have the boat all to yourselves! You won't regret it, it was certainly one of the highlights from this trip!!

Arranged a "Catch and Cook" day through The Waterfront Restaurant and Anna Maria Charters - you…read morebring your fresh catch from the boat to the restaurant and they cook it for you with some side dishes. Captain David White was our host (3 of us) in his nice clean boat. The initial focus was on catching something legal we could eat for dinner. So our first stop (locations are secret) was for GAG Grouper. David was patient in setting up our rods and bait, and explained how these fish would be like a street fight. So fast - they hit and run down into hidey holes where you lose your hook and and your fish. We caught a few, but all undersized. We cruised over to second spot and caught two legit 26" and 28" - so dinner for and Captain David was covered. We spent time at two other spots and caught Snook, one legal Redfish (we released anyway) and some Jack - including a huge last fish that took 10 minutes to bring in. We had a great day, David was a fun and productive guide. He cleaned and bagged our fish at the dock and off we went to the restaurant. A great day!! Highly recommended
