This was my first time skydiving. I've been saying I'm going to do this for my entire life. Well finally I decided what better place to jump out of an airplane than over the beautiful island of Kauai. So I booked it. The experience was unbelievable. I was pretty calm before getting suited up and most of the way on the plane ride up, but your heart definitely starts pumping when it's time to jump. Taylor was fantastic and obviously knows what he's doing. He was very professional and calming during the entire experience. There were 3 jumpers on my flight. These employees seem very lighthearted and the comradery was infectious. With being a newbie, all the fist bumps and statements of excitement before the jump made me feel like I was part of a very special circle of people. One of the instructors wasn't even wearing shoes. Skydive Kauai was amazing!! I decided to surprise my bf with skydiving for his birthday on our trip, and what an adrenaline rush it was! It was the first time for both of us so we weren't sure what to expect. I booked us the 6AM departure cause I was told the winds are less wild in the early mornings, but when we got there, there was a possibility of a storm rolling in so we had to stay planted for a bit. Everyone was extremely friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. We waited for three hours before they suggested we go grab a bite and explore, and then they'd give us a call if the weather was looking a bit better. I definitely appreciate that they erred on the side of caution; even when it was probably okay to go up, they waited until they were 110% sure. They called around noon, and we came back to get suited up. The ride up was smooth, the views are breathtaking - so green and lush, and everything was just smooth and efficient. The plane has a bunch of windows where you can peek your head out to see the gorgeous views, and hold only 4 people (you, another, two instructors) + the pilot so it's definitely cozy. My bf went out the plane first (thankfully ) and I quickly followed. It doesn't really hit you until you're by the door with your legs dangling outside!! But, the entire experience was so smooth. They're all so calm and you could tell they're prepared for anything. Each instructor has their own rules and personal preferences, so be sure to listen and follow their cues! I would definitely recommend getting the photo and video package so you can remember the whole thing, and especially if you don't plan on jumping again!! ;) read more

There are not enough words of praise for how I feel about Skydive Kauai. The team there is amazing! We had planned to jump on a Monday but the weather just didn't cooperate. The best part of the weather hold was getting to spend time with these people. They are witty, funny, the right amount of crazy (they do jump out of planes, after all), but always professional when it came to jumping. Finally there was a weather break, My daughter and I went up in the plane for a jump when Walter, the pilot, didn't feel comfortable with the conditions and brought us back down. We were disappointed, but it proved to me they placed safety over profits. They offered to wait and see if there was another weather break. Tempting as it was to spend more time hanging out with them, we chose to try again the next day. We came back at dawn the following day. My husband, out daughter and I were all able to jump. It was spectacular. Really no way to describe it, you just have to do it. And the shadows and views created by the newly risen sun were breathtaking. Damien and Hudson were perfect and experienced guides that kept us relaxed (as relaxed as possible) and laughing most of the time. They stayed calm during the jumps and took every action to ensure a safe landing for us all. Be prepared. When you arrive there are very intimidating waivers and a video that remind you there is a risk of death when you jump out of a plane. Every page you sign reminds you that you may die. Make an informed choice, but I would absolutely do it again with this group of people. If you always wanted to do it but weren't sure, this is the group to skydive with. Even if you don't, go spend a few hours with them and your day be better for it. read more

Wow! Wow! Wow! My first time skydiving and I'm so glad I was at Skydive Kauai! It was a gorgeous morning with a stunning sunrise and light breezes. After our arrival and signing all the paperwork with Dave the owner we met Rick and Ben, the guys who would accompany us on our jump. My friend had been 3 times before, all with Skydive Kauai too! We got suited up and then it was up, up and away with Tyler the pilot. The plane ride was spectacular as the views of the ocean and the west side of Kauai were jaw dropping. Then it was time! Rick opened the door and out I went. (At this point I was wondering what I had gotten myself into! Haha!) Before I knew it we were free falling and it was EPIC!!!! So freeing and expansive. Then, BOOM! The parachute was released and we shot up like a cork. And then.... Silence. Oh what a feeling!!! Taking all the scenery in was beyond anything I've ever experienced. When we got there I was a little nervous about the "rustic" feel of the place, but found out they have to be off the grid, so it makes things have to be more simple. Anyway, for a first time, over 40, mom to be skydiving I felt very safe and that my safety was in good hands. Hubby decided to join me after all. I'm a pretty regular "tandem" skydiver, I've jumped in many locations in the USA, but this jump zone was absolutely breathtaking (partially due to my mouth agape during freefall AND also due to the views). I have never jumped over any body of water, let alone an entire ocean, so that was a BIG differentiator from any other place that I've jumped in the past decade +. The process was so efficient unlike busier jump zones - waiver signed, harness put on, plane ride up, skydive down, harness off, and back into the car in exactly 45-minutes. The instructors were great too. New Zealand boys that made the experience even better due to their "shaka" culture. read more

Yes, there is a trailer, a porta-potty, and a tiny plane with shark teeth on it. Basically, it looks sketchy. You just have to go! Ok I will be very brutally honest here. I absolutely loved this experience. It was awesome to jump with these guys. They may seem a little bit lackadaisical but they are on their ball game. The ambiance is one of a kind as well. Some old who knows what kinda prop plane without seats just some random belts in it, a great big tigershark mouth like a WWII fighter, a dilapidated white trailer with a small red awning, well its just the kind of trouble that you want to get into to. The views are beyond stellar IMHO. The different cloud formations that you see as you slowly circle up to the sky... then the move over hooking up and the wonderfully fun freefall for several thousand feet over the southern coast of Kauai. On a clear day you can see a lot of the island and its just a great feeling. When the chute opens and there is a sudden stop to the rush and happiness of floating to being suspended you are like WTF how did that end quite so quickly... Definitely something I will do again. I do have a few issues with their receptionist. She neglected to tell me when I asked to know what all the charges would be, that they tax this... I was a bit shocked to say the least. This added about 10% to the cost!!! There is a $10 off deal if you pay in cash in lieu of a credit card. If you are close to 200 lbs expect to pay for an "extra" pound or two at $2/pound. I had weighed myself in the same clothes the night before and was at 198 and after sleeping when I normally loose 1-2 lbs they said I was over the 200 lb limit... very very surprising as I didnt eat or drink before going. Also be prewarned that they will film you signing the document on video in case something inopportune occurs. So almost everything was as awesome as could have been anticipated. just be careful about that OUCH that is not necessarily stated. They do have a monopoly though, if you want to jump on Kaua'i, these guys are your only option. read more

Everyone that we encountered was friendly and professional, the scenery was beautiful, and the tiny plane added to the adventure. With the added cost for photos and video, it can get expensive. We could have died on this experience. The planes are very old and under repairs. When we were at 9,100 feet, the cockpit filled with smoke due to an electrical issue and the pilot yelled at us all to emergency bail from the plane. We were practically thrown out and free fell in a panic. We feel the owner is trying to squeeze every last drop out of his planes and was willing to put our lives at risk to keep the planes going. What's worse is, we heard this emergency issue had already happened once earlier that day. The owner told the next people in line not to cancel and he was going to try to get them back up into the air ASAP. After everything that had happened he wasn't phased about putting more lives at risk. I 100% do not recommend skydiving here. The owner values profit over human lives. There is an article online about 5 fatalities that happened with this owner's company due to a plane crashing after takeoff, killing everyone inside. Had I known about that I would have never gone with this company. We told many locals about our experience and they all said it's known around the island that this company is sketchy. We felt he put a price tag on our heads. Thank god we made it out alive. Posting a picture of the actual plane that filled with smoke - if you see this plane DO NOT ride in it. It's falling apart. It has the number N511PM on the side of it. The thing is, the other plane was also under heavy repair work. It was also maroon in color and had a door. I wouldn't ride in either.
