So, I attempted to support this black owned business and they stole my money, accused me of ordering something that I didn't, & to add insult to injury, the owner of this raggedy establishment "Mr.Washington" was extremely hostile, rude, unprofessional, & he refused to take accountability for overcharging me and serving nasty food. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it was the nastiest mac n cheese I ever tasted. After waiting in line for almost 30 minutes, I was polite and understanding. The people there were mostly elderly and the line was moving like molasses. Nothing worked, the building was nasty, & so was the owners attitude. NEVER AGAIN. They need to shut this place down. They bring food in takeout containers and bags even if you dine in. This must be a huge expense. For dine in, real plates and silverware would be more practical. The air conditioning was not working in the large main room so we ate in a smaller side room. The entire building appears to need lots of repairs. The candied yams look just as pictured on their website, but they taste like they poured them straight out of a can..I was expecting a more down home flavor, especially since I was purchasing them, as opposed to them being gifted to me. I had high hopes for this place. I was driving through for work and I saw this beautiful hole in the wall that was called "Just Oxtails." Of course, I had to stop and get the oxtail. I also ended up getting the smothered pork chops. You walk into the place, and it's literally a cafeteria. The food is on hot trays and ready to go. Service isn't the best, but just normal for a hole in the wall. I ended up getting the mustard greens, candied yams and cabbage (double portion). I got out of there for about $32~. Unfortunately, the oxtail was just standard. It wasn't extremely tender and the sauce was mostly gravy. Maybe I was expecting a more-so jamaican style ? The smothered pork chops were also the same thing. I will say, I really enjoyed the candied yams. The mustard greens were standard goodness, but they also had a good amount of meat chunks in it which sets it apart from other greens I've had at similar restaurants. Cabbage also standard. tl;dr I think this place is too expensive for what you get- taste and portion wise. If I came back, I'd probably only get sides. read more

SO DISAPPOINTED FOR MY POPS. One of the reasons he couldn't wait to get back here from Cali is bc of these oxtails, came here his last visit and just raved about the place. So his last night here, Wednesday night, we ubered all the way across town super excited to give him that experience again only to find the place closed:( And yes, I double checked, nobody has time to call, but 2 different places on the website (as shown in pics) it says open til 9 but apparently closes now at 6. It was so unappreciated bc this place is on let's just say an "undesirable part of town" and so we're literally standing outside near dark waiting for a ride. Couldn't help but notice the few people inside cleaning that couldn't even bother to look up and wave.
