    Beef soup $4.75 (medium)
    Chris C.

I love soup and when I found out about this place which just serves soup, I had to give it a try. The place is more of a take-out joint. There is a few bar stools if you really must to dine-in. They have different soup specials for each day and for today (Wednesday) it was beef soup. There is not much in terms of choice. Just whatever is written on the chalk board. There is no paper menu or pictures to go by either. Since it was my first time here I just asked the owner which soup was good and he naturally said all of them. I just decided to go with the soup of the day which was the beef soup. Medium went for $4.75 which was a fairly good size. I was not too sure what to expect but when I dug into the soup there were lots of stuff inside. Chunks of beef, potatoes, carrots, large pieces of dumpling dough and probably a whole bunch of other ingriedients. The soup had a nice balance in terms of thickness and was not too watery. I really liked the overall flavour of the soup and was glad that it was not overly salty. It might sound like just a simple soup but I was pretty impressed overall and would not hesitate coming here again.

Soup was good. Price is fair. Go early cause they sell out quick. The restaurant is small but clean and cute.

If you're using a credit card, it's a 25-cent transaction fee for every $10. The food court at Malvern Town Centre has seen better days. The tables and chairs to sit down and enjoy a meal are great. The number of eateries that comprise the food court are scarce. I've only been to this mall for the last two Saturdays. I've had lunch at the food court both times. I've now completed the entire food court circuit. Yes, there are two eateries at the food court. I had food last Saturday at Hong Food. Yesterday, I decided to try Panda. Both are mom-and-pop eateries that have endured for many years. I had to wait a bit for someone to appear, as i dropped by at around 2:30 pm, which isn't your typical lunch hour. A nice woman came out of the kitchen and greeted me. I liked that there was that delay. It allowed me to look at the menu and figure out what I wanted. I decided to do the three-item combo. You get a carby base, and then you can choose your three items. Here's what I got: - Thick noodles - Green beans - General Tso's chicken - Lemon chicken - Diet Coke My order came up to $12. I was paying with a debit card. Since my order was over $10, I didn't have to pay a transaction fee. I tapped and was good. The woman asked if I wanted a straw for my drink. I said yes and got one. I thanked her and headed to a shaded table to eat. I liked the thick noodles. They resembled Shanghai-style noodles. They were chewy and yummy. I love green beans. These green beans were excellent. They had a touch of black bean paste, which provided a saltiness that I enjoyed. The general Tso's chicken was delicious. The chicken morsels were tender. The flavour was so good. I'd get it again. The lemon chicken was the weakest link in the sense that it was white meat that looked like it needed hydration. Although the chicken slices were basking in a decent lemony sauce, it still didn't inject any moisture into the chicken. Using dark chicken meat would have been better in the lemon chicken. This change would likely make this dish yummier. I ended up getting a bonus tofu rectangle in my meal. The tofu was so good. I should have got it over the lemon chicken! My canned Diet Coke was cold and refreshing. I needed a larger drink for my fairly large meal. I would have been fine with this drink and a two-item combo. I ended up getting a drink at the bubble tea joint afterwards. I'm glad that I stopped by. The food was decent at a food court that desperately needs more vendors. (320)

Not all branches do food - for example the Mississauga branch doesn't. Got a sugar cane for only $3. It came with options to add lime and/or ginger, which I declined. It seemed to have a bit of a sour edge, so it probably had lemon added. It was good, though it wasn't cold. On the flip side, that meant it wasn't cut with ice either. It was a bit small, though it was described on the receipt as "12 oz. Now bigger qty" so I guess it used to be even smaller. The paan (stuffed betel nut leaf) was actually pretty good - moist & a good mix of flavours, with a maraschino cherry pinned onto its outside with a toothpick. Masala butter pav was pretty good though the bun was soft & not crispy. Small samosa (for which they undercharged me - 20 cents though the menu said it was 25 cents to get you to buy 5 for $1) was actually pretty big. It was ok; though pre-made it still had some crispness. Batataka vada was large but plain & neither crispy nor warm so it wasn't good. The "jumbo" vada pav came in a burger bun. The patty was not crispy because it was pre-made & cold but it still tasted OK. The chutneys were nice. The patty used potato that was a bit coarse but still tasted ok; compressed into the bun the chunkiness of the potato was not so noticeable. The spiciness of the dish hit in the aftertaste especially hard. Some items are only available in "summer", but there's summer and there's summer; when I went sugar cane juice was available but not the ice golla.

They have excellent samosas and kachori. I recommend to go there for these tasty and convenient…read moresnacks!

The woman behind the meat counter was wearing a mask, but it was useless, as her nose wasn't covered. I turned to my right, and a barefaced man one metre from me was looking at meats. I mentioned the face mask bylaw to him. He ignored me, as did staff. At checkout, the woman on cash wore a mask, but her nose was fully exposed. I asked her to tell the manager that I won't be shopping there any more and the reason for my decision. I didn't feel safe. We're in a pandemic. And no one seemed to care.

For some of the chocolates, crakers, etc. that I looked at it was difficult to discern what it was or tasted like. Many of the junk foods had pictures, but as they deal largely with imported European foods, the packages don't always have English on them - they often do, but not always. I settled on some crackers that said graham on them, but afterwards when I opened them up they didn't look or taste anything like our traditional western graham crackers. They didn't taste bad, but I include this point to signify the usefulness of English on the packages. I also purchased 200g of cheese. I couldn't read the languague on any of the cheeses so I asked a lady to pair a good cheese with my crackers... yes, I asked for a good cheese pairing with my graham crackers. I got some sheepish looks but given my question I think it was fair. I got 200g of a mild cheese and it tasted pretty good. I didn't recognize any cuts of meats that were chicken or turkey and so I didn't explore any of those offerings. It seemed like this was the busiest part of the store. If you don't speak the language many of the ladies use (I didn't recognize it) they do speak English and are helpful. I left with my cheese, graham crackers, some Sesame Snaps candy and the cost was a little over $8. Not bad considering 2 of the 3 items bought were imported.
