Given the stellar reviews online, I was so excited to try Seoul Gamjatang with my friend. However, I left quite disappointed by my meal. I got the gamjatang (what they are known for) and it had two potatoes and a few pieces of pork bone. The pork was tender but the soup was pretty tasteless. It did come with a good amount of rice and the side dishes were decent. But for their star dish, I found that it missed its mark. I've been to other Korean restaurants that don't specialize in gamjatang but they are much much better. Service was really nice and there was a bit of a wait even to get a seat. My friend did get their veggie bibimbap and she said she enjoyed it. Also their menu is AI-generated which gives me a sense of false advertising. read more

Went here for a late lunch and was a delicious find. There was plenty of seating and was a very casual spot to grab food. We tried the pork kimchi jjigae and bulgogi bibimbap. The jjigae came out boiling hot and served with a rice of rice. It was perfectly spicy and had a good amount of pork in it. The bibimbap was also delicious with plenty of the add ins to go with the rice. It was served with a side of soup. The meals came with your typical sides and were refillable, which was appreciated. This neighborhood really needed an authentic Korean restaurant, and I'm glad this one opened up filling up the old Wendy's space. Prices are a little higher than Koreatown, but the flavors are on point and worth it. We shared the cold noodles and seafood stew and both were delicious, fresh, and satisfying. There were only 3 side dishes but they refilled them when asked. We went on a weeknight and it stayed quiet until about 7pm, which made for a comfortable and relaxed meal without being rushed out. Delicious Gamjatang in downtown Toronto. The restaurant is clean, not too busy when I went on a Monday night. The wait staff was only one person that night, so it took a little while to get my check so I could leave, but that's okay. The waiter was nice. I did walk-in on a Friday evening and had about a 15-20 minute wait! The inside of the restaurant is spacious, but feels a bit empty with minimal decor. There's plenty of seating but the tables are all pretty close to each other. Service is pretty quick here. Their menu is pretty simple, in comparison to many other Korean restaurants. They specialize in gamjatang, but also have a variety of other soups. Other than that, they have some meat dishes as well as seafood pancake. My friend and I ordered the gamjatang, seafood pancake, and bibimbap to share. All of their banchan, especially their kimchi and fish cakes were delicious. I haven't had a lot of gamjatangs, but this one was flavoured well and the pork basically fell off the bone, it was so soft!! The only thing that's bringing my rating down a 0.25 is that it's ridiculously hot in there. A minute into sitting down, we had to take off all our layers because we were all really hot. Decided to give Seoul Gamjatang a try as we saw that there was a BOGO offer on UberEats. We got the gamjatang and sundubu, which came with rice and a side of kimchi and cabbage pickles. On the first look you get big portions, 3 pork bones in 1 order of soup and a super reasonable amount of rice and banchan, plus lots of small bites of sea food in the sundubu, but barely any tofu. We thought the gamjatang tasted bland, it wasn't bad nor anything too special to talk about. And the bones were kinda tough. You really need to peel the meat off the bones to eat. As for the sundubu it was alright but wished there was more tofu, or maybe there was and it just broke in transit. On the side note the kimchi and pickles were delicious! You also can't pick spicy levels, everything tasted mild/ really little spice. read more

The service was good, although it was busy when I went. It was also strange that they wouldn't seat parties of 2 at the tables of 4 but would rather leave it empty. Tried the pork bone soup ($20) and the Seafood Pancake ($24). Pork bone soup was good, not too spicy, good seasoning but not overly so and the pork was fresh and not too fatty. This is a new Korean restaurant serving Korean street food. Their Instagram post on on 2024-09-21 claimed that everything on their menu is under $21. They soft-opened on 2024-09-29 and grand-opened on 2024-10-01. We went there on 2024-10-04. Prices went up! I saw and still see an IG post stating the mains are under $20 but their online menu shows the mains are $18 to $27; false advertising. I spoke to a supervisor telling him that I came to the restaurant because of that IG post; all he could do was apologize. We ordered the following: 1. Gamjatang ($19.99). 2. Dolsot Bimbimbap ($22.99). They give you two Banchan (kimchi and fish cake) as appetizers, like most Korean restaurants. The Gamjatang came with a small bowl of rice, a special bowl for bones, and one plastic glove to use if you wish to hold the bone while eating. The flavouring was just OK. You had to peel the scarce amount of meat off the bone with chopsticks. The Bimbimbap came in a hot sizzling bowl and came with a bowl of soup and hot sauce. There was not much meat. The food was presented well. The customer service was OK. They forgot to give the bowl of rice with the Gamjatang; we had to ask for it. The seating area is quite large. It is brightly lit indoors. They have k-pop songs playing in the background. This location used to be a Wendy's. There is an ad at each table saying that if you write a Google review, you get a free Korean Style Meatball. However, when I asked, they were not honouring it; they said they might honour it toward the end of Oct. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but the door-open button doesn'twork. There are separate male/female washrooms, and they are both wheelchair accessible. Nice authentic Korean spot near Bloor and College. We tried the gamjatang which had a very generous portion and great flavour. The kimchi in the banchan was very salty. Service was okay. There were some minor hiccups but nothing major. Also, shoutout to the Google reviewer who mentioned this used to be a Wendy's - once I saw it, I couldn't unsee it. Tried this newly opened restaurant north of yonge and college. It took over the location of a former Wendy's if I recall. We walked in for lunch and was seated promptly. The menu doesn't have a lot of dishes but it does have what they specialized in. We got the gamjatang, the bibimbap and the pajeon (seafood). It came with the 4 standard side dishes. Overall, I do agree with another reviewer that they could have included slightly more meat in the bibimbap as well as work on the flavour of it. The gamjatang was good but should be cooked a bit longer to make the "meat fall off the bone". The pajeon was great, no complaints. My first time trying Seoul Gamjatang on a Saturday afternoon. We were quickly seated and everything looked very clean and new. The staff were friendly and quick to assist us when we needed help. What I got: - Bulgogi Solsot Bibimbap - Banchan (Radish Kimchi, Cabbage Kimchi, Fishcakes) Final Thoughts: I wish there was more bulgogi in my bibimbap, but I do like that it came with a side of soup.
