I love Ital food, so when Vegan I Thali popped up on my Instagram feed, I knew I had to go. Very easy to find just east of the Main subway station, you can't miss it in summer since it's for a fresh smoothie hut out front. Walking in, you're greater by lots of bulk foods, oats, roasted barley, spices like ground sage, green coffee beans and packages of injera. There's no seating and no patio, since this is primarily a takeout joint, but that's probably best anyways in these times. As for what's on the menu, they have a good selection of starters, soups and salads. Apparently they're known for their corn soup, but I forgot to order some. There's also a menu for "casual eats," which just looks like fast food items such as chickpea nuggets and fries with mushroom gravy. What I ordered was a Make-Your-Own Them I, where you pick 4 items for about $20. For my first visit, I decided on Rasta Pasta, Saucy BBQ soya, Ital Stew, and Eggplant Delight. Out of all items, the Rasta Pasta and Eggplant was decent but memorable, the BBQ soya was goods but very salty for my palate, they also threw in some jerk soya which was also good, but again, a tad too salty. The Ital Stew though, that was heavenly. I could just eat a bowl of that everyday. It was hearty, dull of flavour and so buttery. Would get that again in a heartbeat. That said, I'll definitely be back to try this another combo, maybe grab extra Ital Stew on the side $6, and some frozen vegan patties (12 for $30, or 12 gluten free for $50), oh and soup of course and maybe also a smoothie... FYI if you feel like Ethiopian, you can also order the Injera Thali, where you get Meser Wat (red lentils, garlic and onions), Ye Kik Wat (split peas & turmeric), and Gomen (kale, chili and ginger).

Horrible little dive that should not be called a restaurant. My lunch was hardly edible. Avoid.

Seems like we happened to go alphabetical for lunch/brunch as the next day Wed., 6/4/25. This place had good reviews. So, we got on TTC to Osgoode station and was a very close walk. It said established in 1919, so we thought it's a good sign it's been in business over a century; although not this location specifically. Their history in the 20th century was that they started in Berlin, Germany in 1919, but they were a Jewish family who ended up immgrating to Israel in 1933, opening their store there, and expanded locations throughout Israel. Their history in Toronto & North America (including some in the US) is much more recent since opening in 2017. Unfortunately, my closest is New York City; none in Maryland or DC area. This location is in busy downtown Toronto. We sat outside on their big patio area as the weather was warm and could enjoy the view of the buildings, people, cars, etc. Server was friendly answering our questions. I ended up getting an egg benedict with salmon in a croissant. It was creative and delicious take on egg benedict. The only issue was it was messy to eat in the croissant, but I didn't care as it was so delicious. My girlfriend got a Belgian waffle with blueberries, whipped cream, etc. It was unique and very good & sweet too as I tried a bite. Overall, this was a 5-star experience with great food, service, & atmosphere.

Service: It was not great. We sat for a while and no one took attention (we were outside and they were busy but no excuse for them -- they should do better). We had folks come in and out and were somewhat nonchalant and not attentive. Food: This was the great part of the experience. - Berries and Granola with Greek Yogurt: My brother in law got this an he devoured it and said it was great. - Farmers Breakfast: My wife got this and she LOVED it. She went back to get their Halwah Latte (which she said was just OK) - Egg white Omlette Skillet: I customized my food and it was good -- for reference I've had better only because the cheese was feta and it was unclear that this was the only option as I don't love feta. Also I'm pretty sure while I asked for egg whites there was normal egg (i.e., eggs). If you order egg white make sure the server hears you. They screwed this up for me. This is why I'm giving it three stars -- I could have made a stink but didn't think it was necessary to do so. All in all -- I'd recommend this spot to folks but don't go there thinking the service will be great.

We ordered medium spicy for the papaya salad and it only had a slight kick. I wished the salad portion was more as it was gone pretty quickly. It comes with shrimp chips, pork rinds, and 2 small bundles of rice noodles. The dried shrimp in the salad was very chewy though, which made it a bit less enjoyable. I ended up picking them all out. We ordered spicy for the pad gra prow but it wasn't spicy at all. I think you can ask for the Thai chilis/ Thai chili fish sauce thing on the side but we decided we were fine with no spicy. Unfortunately the crispy pork was not crispy at all and was also very chewy. Overall it was still delicious! The Khao soi mightve honestly been the least favorite, but it was still good. It is on the sweeter side. The egg noodles were cooked al dente and had a nice chew. Sometimes when I get Khao soi it ends up being too heavy or creamy, but the curry for this one was thinner and easy to eat. The shrimp was the best part - super fresh and bouncy. In the end I thought the portions and quality were good. The service was also super nice, and it was impressive to see our waitress cover so many tables. The restrooms were also clean.

Alex, one of the owners, introduced himself shortly after we were seated, offering a warm welcome that immediately made us feel at home. The cocktail program is creative, with a thoughtful lineup of drinks, beers, and wines. We tried two cocktails--both delicious, though quite small for the price. A bit of a Toronto theme, it seems. We chose the six-course vegan prix fixe. Each plate was a true piece of art, crafted with precision and intention. You get to experience a range of flavors and techniques, though the dishes lean more toward tasting portions than filling plates. We left a bit hungry, and the pricing felt high for the amount of food. The best way to think of it is as investing in edible art--beautiful, expressive, and memorable, though not necessarily hearty. I'm not sure I'd rush back based on value alone, but I'm genuinely happy to see a vegan restaurant like this thriving. Grateful for the chance to experience it.
