Place is on the higher end and I would say portions are not too big. However price is standard for these types of restaurant. Bill came to 350$ for food shared between 10 people. I enjoyed the sweet and spicy fish, mapo tofu with pig blood, and spicy fried frog. Will warn that normal spice level is very spicy. I went with some friends who LOVEEEE Szechuan food, and we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the vibes! They give you plastic aprons, but do anticipate some of the food smell to stick to your clothing! Came here on a Saturday night and it was packed. We added ourselves to the waitlist around 7pm and were seated at about 8:30pm. It was raining, but thankfully there was a small indoor waiting area where we could stand and stay dry. Once inside, the restaurant felt spacious and welcoming. The staff were super friendly and even walked us through the menu, pointing out their popular dishes. We ordered the stir-fried eggplant and the deep-fried chicken with hot chili. The eggplant leaned a bit on the sweeter side, but it was cooked perfectly, not mushy at all, and tasted amazing. The chicken had a lot of flavor and definitely spicy. We asked for it to be made less spicy, so I can only imagine how intense the full spice level is! Portions here are huge, so it's a great spot to come with a bigger group to try more dishes. It takes an extremely long thing to wait in line. Went to this restaurant expecting a nice dinner, but the waiting‑list experience was absolutely terrible. We joined the waitlist online with an estimated seating window, yet we ended up waiting for over two hours and still had not been called. The update of queue progress was very slow, and many smaller parties kept getting seated ahead of us even when our position hardly moved. There was almost no communication from the restaurant about the long delay. It is really disappointing to waste so much of our night just waiting around. If you have limited time for dinner, I cannot recommend relying on their online waitlist system at all. read more

Fittingly situated in Chinatown Toronto, this place has it all. From the numbing sensation to the high spice tolerance. They even have drinks where you can't find elsewhere. Officially one of my favorite Sichuan restaurant in Toronto. As a spicy food lover, I was so excited to try this place after my mom raved about it. She repeated mentioned the spicy fish after she had it with friends and she's usually very nonchalant about most restaurants. I tried it for the first time as takeout but my mom insisted we needed to have it again fresh at the restaurant so, lo and behold, we went for lunch. She is right. The dish is so much better as dine-in. We went not long after they opened on Saturday so we were seated quickly. The restaurant had a homey vibe and decor and the servers were really nice. They came to check on us and gave some nice recommendations and asked if we wanted to adjust the spice level. I would recommend lowering it if you don't eat spice often. They offered bibs, which is a blessing for a messy eater like me, who was worried about my light colored sweater. They also offered some fruity mouthwash along with the candy when we got the bill, which I thought was a nice touch. The food is the highlight. Everything we got really hit the spot. Fish fillet is soft and tender but still flavorful. It comes with these awesome glass noodles and the portions are great. The chicken is also well seasoned and tender and since I love smoked bamboo shoots, you just can't go wrong. Unsurprisingly, the fish is my favourite. I am so happy I decided to give this restaurant a try because the food was delicious and we had a wonderful experience dining here. We came here a bit after 5 and got seated right away without waiting. Right after we sat down, the waitress informed us that they only accept canadian debit cards and cash, which was not a problem for us. The waitress helping us was extremely friendly and gave me a hunch or recommendations after looking at the menu. I informed her that I was Cantonese and expressed my worries about handling the spice, she was so kind to adjust the spice level for me. My favorite dish of all times is stir fried green beans and I really enjoyed this dish at Chengdu! I am so glad that we decided to order this without spice. On a grand scale of Chinese food worldwide probably a 7 or 8 out of 10. On Chengdu scale prob 3 or 4/10, and thats being overly generous. Severely underspiced. We asked for spice level 8/10 for native eaters, was barely mild on the gringo scale. Service very condescending under a veneer of hipness. Save ur money for restauranteurs who r professionals and happy to see u and dont presume u couldntve possibly had this type of food before and by necessity have to dumb it down. Lolz. read more
