Terrible experience. Waited over an hour for food that was flavorless and salty at the same time -- fish had zero seasoning, green beans were also salty and inedible. The staff didn't seem to care, and the place was dark and uninviting. Complete waste of time and money. Purchase meat loaf, green beans, rice (requested without gravy) & peach cornbread. First, the rice had gravy on it and it was salty. The meatloaf and the gravy on it and the green beans was also "salty". Also, on the bottom of my door dash receipt I requested NO gravy on the rice - guess the server making the food did not read? For a black owned and run establishment patronized by mostly African american people (higher incidence of having high blood pressure) they should know to refrain from cooking with salt. Then the peach corn bread the one item I truly wanted was hard, dried up and inedible. The piece given should have never been sold in the first place. Food 3 Service -1 8/24/24. Haven't been here in a year, definitely doesn't taste the same. Seen a whole different crew in there. Order a fish platter, not seasoned the same, green were not good either. Macaroni and sweet potatoes were good. New cooks brought the taste down. Same timing though, always an hour wait, but they always say 25 minutes. Just say the real time so I can make an informed choice instead of waiting around angry. The food was overall amazing. There isn't really many soul food spots here in delaware. The price was great for the amount of food they give you. They have a strawberry shortcake cheesecake for dessert there and that's also AMAZING. You have to try it. The jerk chicken is a little spicy for those of you that can't handle spice. Man this place here! Ok I just got to Wilmington and was looking for a spot to grab food. Saw this on YELP and figured I'd give it a shot. I mean I'm from the south and in in Wilmington, Delaware... This is my third time ordering from this restaurant and each time I have purchased their chicken wing platter and I can't say that I love it. I gave it another chance hoping that I would love it, however , not yet! The chicken wing platter is advertised to be (6) wings and (2) sides. On both occasions, I received (5) wings each time. When attempting to call, the staff can be rude and abrupt and this is a stain on any business. While the wings are ample size as are the portions, if your menu has changed, make the necessary updates. The wings were seasoned enough not to be bland but a little more time should be utilized to remove feathers. As stated the sides are ample but not very flavorful. I'm not sold on restaurant and hope that take notice of the reviews and do what they can to make this a go to place here in Delaware. Based on previous reviews I called in a takeout order expecting a long wait time. I arrived in about 30 minutes and the food was waiting up front. It was fairly empty & this was around 2:30pm on a Friday so maybe the busy hours are during dinner. The portion size is fairly large, all platters come with the choice of 2 sides and a side of cornbread. I ordered the fried whiting with a side of mac and cheese and candied yams. the fish was fresh, mac and cheese was cheesy and the candied yams weren't overly sweet,the cornbread however was a tad burnt and tasted stale. They also have a pastry case by the register and offer homemade lemonade you can get original or strawberry. Cashier was friendly & I was able to see in the kitchen while at the register and all the cooks did have on gloves and hairnets so that's a plus; It's definitely worth a go. read more

Food here is usually good and I have been hung here since it opened and supported it since it since the COVID Pandemic. I realize that COVID has impacted most businesses to increase take out and delivery through Door Dash and other delivery services.Customer service and sanitation is critical but poor at this restaurant.I called in an order and was placed on hold twice for long periods of time.The front end lady never even acknowledged the wait after returning to the call.I placed the order for pick up and was told it would be ready in 25 minutes.I arrive and she indicates it is not ready. While there another person was given my exact order and returned it stating my order,a catfish/shrimp combo while I was there due to the error.(No one else had the same order)The order was taken to the back by the front end staff who told the chef.After taking a call,he opens the container-no gloves ,mask lowered and asks the front end lady what is this? She goes back and takes parchment sheets to remove the items and says just redrop it)refry it) and I guess re-serve it to me.I am watching this from the front and at this point ask for and got a refund. I cannot believe that they would attempt this after the item left the store with another customer and returned and to re-fry it-I am very disappointed and May report to OSHA. They need additional help on the front desk with better customer service and she too was preparing the take out bags,handling money and cards and taking phone orders but wore her mask improperly below her nose the entire time as well as when she went to the kitchen as well as no gloves.Again very disappointed and may not return. read more

So I have come to this place a lot of times . Its a typical soul food place . I normally get Fried Whiting with Yams & Mac . I have tried the Turkey Wings also & most of the sides so over all the food is good . BUT they lack in service . Wait time on the phone is normally more then 5 minutes . When I placed my order today I was hold for 7+ minutes . When I asked why such a long wait the person answering the phone said "7 minutes aint that long" I called at 707 food wasnt ready until 815 . I arrived at 750 that means I had to wait an extra 30 minutes after already calling . The lady at the counter who also had took my order charged my card for the wrong order so they had to refund my card then charge me again for the right order . She also was answering personal calls at the counter . I had to ask if my order was ready at that & it was sitting right there smh . They need to get a better system so customer dont have to wait long especially if they called in they order, communicate better as coworkers, & have some customer service training . read more

Customer service could be better but the food was great. They were able to accommodate a group of 7 without reservations on Sunday. They seating is limited and the downstairs area is small. The food was delicious. 3 of us ordered the catfish which was just fine but the sides were great I had the Mac and cheese, potato salad, and greens. A good thing I wasn't to highlight is that one of us wanted oxtails and they were all out. However, our waitress said it was a small amount left and let us have that. Once I returned to work I discovered I was missing a chop but I called and straightened it out with the staff Pros: Food is fire everything I've ordered has been amazing. Perfectly seasoned and fresh. I also had their fried wings which were good too. Cons: Placing an order over the phone. This can be quite a task. If during lunch call early. The service is the reason for the rating. 1st time I called ahead the girl put the phone down and started complaining in the back round to another worker that she was alone and didn't know what to do then they started joking around and no one ever picked up after 8 mins I hung up. 2nd time I called a girl picked up put me on hold for 15 mins and then they hung up on me I was calling ahead to order for 10 people. Once my friends got there it was empty and the workers were standing around and once she placed the order there was still a 25 min. I went to Just to serve you in Wilmington De. My team and I ordered $100 worth of food and the service was horrible . I called the order in at 11:30, got there at 12:10 and the food was not ready . We did not get our order until 12:35. I asked the lady why wasn't it ready sooner and she instantly got an attitude with me . The nerve of her after we supported your business. I don't think I will order from there again due to them being unorganized and their horrible customer service. The food is very good. I have frequented this place at least ten times because of the food but this last customer service experience is the last straw. Holiday hours state they are open until 7pm. On 12/31/20 I started calling as I made my way there, figuring I could place my order and it would be ready. The phone was busy my entire 15 minute ride there.
