We had a great experience at the Justin tasting room in downtown Paso Robles and would absolutely recommend it. A small bummer at the start was that we arrived before opening at 12PM and were waiting outside with several other guests. Someone unlocked the door, but no one let us know we could come in. About 4 minutes after 12, I tried the door and realized it was unlocked, though none of us had heard or seen it open. Not a huge deal, but a quick welcome would have been nice. After that, everything was fantastic. I love that Justin offers this tasting room separate from their main winery, which is several miles away. Having a location right in the downtown Paso Robles square is so convenient, especially being surrounded by shops and restaurants. I also really loved the setup with tables to sit at versus standing at a bar. They offer wine by the glass as well as different tasting flight options, and they also serve small bites. We heard there are different menus depending on the day, which is a nice touch. Our server greeted us quickly, brought water right away, and got our first tasting to us fast. She was very knowledgeable about the wines and did an excellent job explaining each one. Since we were in a bit of a hurry to catch a flight, she kindly brought all of our tastings out at once, clearly labeled, walked us through them, and let us enjoy at our own pace. We really appreciated that. Wish we had more time here. Highly recommend. Also, if you join their wine club, your tastings are complimentary, which is a great perk! read more

Luckily being premier wine members we were able to get in a tasting and thank goodness because the 2 tastings prior at other wineries were definitely unsatisfactory. The vibe is classy and clean. We stopped in for a quick glass of wine and was attended by Chase who really knows his business and all the ins and outs of the Justin wine collection. We shared the blue chess dip small plate appetizer which paired lovely with the Viognier wine we selected. By the end of the hour we spent here we purchased 7 bottles of wine and joined there wine club. The atmosphere was wonderful as was the entire staff. We are planning on making the 2 1/2 hour drive again in the near future to sample more if there wide selection of premium wines. read more

So listen. My cousin is obsessed with Justin. And I don't mean "oh I like their wine" obsessed. I mean, she talks about Justin like he's her actual secret lover. A forbidden man. A phantom in the vineyard. A cabernet daddy. (Spoiler: she's only had his wine once. But she recalls it like it was the best one-night stand of her life.) Naturally, I had to come see what the fuss was about. So there I am, at Justin's tasting room in downtown Paso Robles, bright-eyed and brave at 11 a.m., because they just opened and I am nothing if not committed to the bit. I order the premium flight ($80 for five wines), thinking, Okay. Controlled. Classy. We pace. We sip. We live. Right? Wrong. The tasting begins with a "bonus pour." What do you mean bonus? There are five wines on the menu. I came here for five wines. Not six. Not seven. Just five. And suddenly I'm being handed extra wine like I won the lottery and lost my liver in the process. We move on. Pour two. Pour three. Pour four. Another bonus pour. Excuse me? Why is everything a bonus? Is this a winery or a casino? By this point, I am seeing three charcuterie boards where there is clearly none. I'm swaying gently to the music in my own head. And yet, I soldier on--because the final two wines are Justin's Isosceles blends, the very ones that made my cousin emotionally cheat on her future husband with a bottle. Problem is--I can't feel my face. I've got methane gas building in my soul. I've never spit out wine in my life, but today? I was ready to sacrifice my pride and projectile Syrah. Out of desperation and basic gastrointestinal survival, I order truffle fries to soak up the disaster. Pretty tasty btw. And finally, she pours the 2021 Isosceles. I taste it. It's good. Great, even. But honestly? The second bonus wine (the Savant) was my favorite. Still, I'm committed. So I stumble over to my lovely pourer, clutching my flight sheet like a diploma, and say, with the seriousness of a woman on the brink: "I can't keep going. But I must try the 2019 Isosceles. Just a drop." She pours me a full damn glass. I cave. I buy $200 worth of wine to waive the tasting fee, and exit the building as a different woman. Possibly reborn. Definitely lit asf. Wine was fantastic, the Savant was my fave. I can't give you more because...well... Side note from my dramatic review: the ambiance is a bit stale I may say. Last weekend I brought my group in the tasting room because I was telling them how beautiful their vineyard is and how great the wine is. We all traveled up for my birthday from Orange County. We went in not knowing that we needed a reservation since we just walk into other tasting rooms and they are ready to let you get a tasting. Totally understandable, unfortunately the lady came up to us and asked how she could help us and when we said we didn't have reservations, she laughed in our face and said "sorry, all I can do is laugh". I think her name was Vicky but not positive. I am a member but I am thinking of cancelling after this experience. We were in town and managed to come by an hour before they closed. We had a gaggle of kids with us, so i was hesitant, but they were so welcoming. Only a few opted of us into a tasting, but they offered everyone a bottled water and let us bask in their comfortable air conditioned tasting room. Unfortunately their kitchen closed and we did not get a chance to try their charcuterie. Come 6pm and we knew they were getting ready to close, we never once felt rushed as we made our wine selections. They have fantastic wines and generous discounts upon becoming members. I love Justin wines, and have for many years. I've been to the Vineyard location numerous times, but until yesterday, have never to Justin's tasting room in downtown. I'm left wondering, why? Dummy! RSVP is recommended, but not required. As a member, I get up a 4 tastings for friends and family (and myself, of course). It never occurred to me that the tasting room I could get some *free* wine. Hello? Dummy x2. Because it was near closing, I couldn't do a tasting, but they offered a glass of Isosceles for my pal and I. Hello! It was so damn good. They do offer some light food options and a lovely charcuterie plate, but real food (burger, pizza, fish, steak) can only be found at the Vineyard location. Either stands on its own. He gave us great recommendations and had us try a couple of extra things off the tasting that we ended up buying as well. Unfortunately, the service here was cold and unwelcoming. From the moment I arrived, I felt more like a bother than a guest. The server didn't talk about their wine or tasting selections and their attitude was so dismissive that I felt genuinely uncomfortable. I was waiting for my husband but ended up getting up and taking my drink to the bar just to pay and leave early. It really seemed like unless you're a member, they don't put much effort into making you feel valued. Disappointing experience--we won't be returning. read more

This is a very chic, hip tasting room right across from the main park in Paso. I'm not sure what they charge for their wine tastings, (probably pretty high I'm guessing) but we are members of Justin in general so we never pay when we go there. For example, we asked for crackers and the server seemed confused and said that they could bring crackers from the charcuterie board but never did. These were the most expensive prices per glass that I had seen on my trip. On the bright side, we did enjoy the Isosceles (very smooth) and Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon. Located conveniently downtown in the square where everything else is at. I've always loved Justin Winery and this was my first visit to their tasting room. Their vineyard and winery is about 30 minutes away from downtown, which makes it difficult to always visit them. But their tasting room located downtown can easily solve that, as they offer the majority, if not same, wines that they do at the winery. They do have a limited menu, but nonetheless, it's still enough to get by. Especially since they still have their truffle fries! They also have a dinner portion where you can get a wine pairing with your meal at the tasting room. You cannot do the wine tasting and dinner at the same time though. It would be either before or after. Parking is a bit difficult as there are more people trying to find parking then there are spots. read more

JUSTIN vineyard and winery is 30 minutes away from downtown Paso Robles. We really didn't want to drive even further. That's why I made reservations at Justin downtown tasting room for tasting and dinner. We liked the modern and posh decor which is different from usual tasting rooms. We did two tastings of a regular ($45) and a reserved ($80). Also bottle of white for dinner, French press and sparking water. Hubby had all reds and purchased couple of reserved to take home. Our tasting waitress was so friendly and knowledgeable about the wines. We had a great time with her. Our dinner was set in the front of the restaurant with a wine cellar underneath. I think it was for my birthday setup and I appreciated it. For food we had shrimp cocktail, chips with caviar, filet steak and mushrooms. We loved the wines but not much of the food, for one the mushrooms were extremely salty. And I couldn't understand the $80 worth of caviar on crème fraiche, Why?! The dessert was very good though. We enjoyed the top notch wines and service. I think it's a great place for tastings but not a full dinner. read more

The place feels very cold, rigid, and like you're in a hospital room awaiting surgery. It has no sort of ambience for wine tasting - but that's just my opinion. We were greeted by friendly people, however, at the end of our tasting, we noticed there was a chocolate pairing (which I love) it would have been nice to know that befre hand. The wine was fine. Another beautiful day of wine tasting in Paso, with our final stop to the Downtown City Park and all that surrounds it. We decided that the Justin Downtown Tasting Room would be our last tasting . . . and we're very happy we did. As we approached we could hear live music and walked into a very busy tasting room. It took a couple minutes for the host to get us seated, and without reservations we were very appreciative that they could accommodate us (we will definitely make reservations next time). They offer different tasting options, as well as Chocolate Pairing, and assorted food items. Our server Aaron made sure we knew all of the choices, and we settled for a Wine Flight, and the Artisanal Cheese & Charcuterie. Can't say enough about how those two paired so well together. Can't really pick a favorite from the wine flight, each one with it's own tastes and personality: Rose of Syrah, Syrah, Justification (Cab Franc and Merlot blend), and Isosceles (Cab, Cab Franc and Merlot blend). Aaron was very attentive and made sure we knew what was in each glass. And as busy as he was he made sure to check in with us as time went on. The live music was also fun to watch and listen. Why is the wine tasting $49 when there are $20 bottles on the list? I went to a wine tasting that was half that price and had, on average, $95 wine bottles on their list. The wines at the other place were also much more enjoyable. The food here is good though. The short ribs are okay but not amazing. I would definitely recommend the flatbreads though. read more

What a classy version of the "In-town" tasting room. We have been here a couple of times now and it has been wonderful each time. From the moment you are checked in and seated the level of service is obvious. To begin with the ambience is first rate, just gorgeous. And of course the wines are fantastic.
