Being that I was unable to get a reservation for the Austin Hope Winery, they were kind enough to recommend me Hope on Park. To say the least, I was very pleased and would recommend this option to anyone that goes through the same situation I did. Not only is this spot super chill, they have plenty of parking and lots of food options around in case you want to also grab some dinner. Hope on Park was very welcoming. The staff was attentive and made time to make sure we had our glasses with a taster along with information about what you were experiencing in your taste buds. It felt intimate and almost like a private tasting. I also very much loved that they were dog friendly and even provided my dog a treat. There is no seats for you to hang out in but there is a counter large that you don't feel like you're rubbing elbows with anyone. If you do a tasting and spend $100, the tasting will be free. From the outside, it looks like a charming sidewalk walk-up bar, but if you make reservations for their 2.5-hour tasting experience, you're in for a completely different world. Step through the doors and it feels like you've entered your own private lounge--fun, intimate, and unlike anything else. Instead of the usual 4-5 wine samples, you're paired with your own dedicated "wine-tender," which takes the experience to another level. After visiting the Austin Hope winery years ago, I had always wanted to go back. Because of their popularity, it can be pretty hard to snag a reservation, so I was very excited to see that they had a new downtown tasting room. Of course, being a well-known winery and in the heart of downtown didn't necessarily help with the crowds here, but we were able to walk in early on a Sunday morning and be the only ones there for a while. And even as the crowd did grow, they weren't turning people away and were happy to help everyone who walked up. We were helped by Nick, who was very fun to taste with. He was knowledgeable about the wine and we enjoyed talking about Paso and Austin Hope. We got to sample all the wines on the tasting menu, and a few off menu as well, which we of course ended up going home with a couple of. While the cab is what they're known for (and is amazing), it's always nice to taste directly from the winery because you get to sample so much more of what they do, and a lot of stuff that is exclusive to the winery that you won't find in stores. If you want a more relaxing and educational experience, I'd recommend going to the vineyard property or coming here early, as when the crowd grows it gets a little loud and can become a party, so it does get a little more difficult to get wine education. We were lucky and had come early enough that we still got a good amount of one on one information about all the wines. I've been a fan of Austin Hope, but it was time to do something about it. In fact, all my Paso friends are members, so I suppose it's safe to say, everyone is doing it. The Tasting Room, Hope on Park, is across from the central park and right front and center in town. It's conveniently located, fun to walk right up and have a taste or a glass of wine. The main vineyard is a separate location (which I have yet to go). I was invited to a party of 9, so we were seated inside in the back. Wow, incredible wines kept coming served alongside a beautiful charcuterie plated on 3 tiers. Sure, it was great to nibble, but the wines were so good (best: 2018 Cab, and the 2023 CCC). Our wine educator was so cool and wonderful. All in all, I'm a member now. Glasses for free, anytime...oh yeah...and 6 bottles twice per year...double oh yeah. read more

I have not been to the Austin Hope Winery, but I did stop by the tasting room Hope on Park. It was such a lively little room. There is a view of the park behind and the garage door opening, making it feel like you are outside and apart of the town. The wines were all so tasty, it was like each one was getting better and better. I really really liked the Treana wines. I was greeted as I walked past by Chris, where I learned this was the place I was looking for. I selected a reserve red tasting and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the wine. Chris did an excellent job on educating me on the wines I tasted. I enjoyed them all but the wine that spoke to me was the red Treana. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Initially we tried to get a reservation at the AH vineyard but they were fully booked. I asked to be put on the waitlist then got a call from Ryah saying they had an opening at the their newer Hope on the Park location in the creative space. I was slightly bummed we were going to the vineyard, but was happy we'd be able to try their variety of wines. When we got there, Ryah greeted us and walked us to through the back entrance where you walk into a whole different facet of the building. The patio area was stylish and elegant and we were greeted by Wes who started the immersive experience off with popping bottles of champagne the old school way! How cool! We walked into their creative space and it was very hip, spacious, and overall amazing ambiance. There was a printed sign with our names and SEVERAL glasses out for our two person tasting. We did the vertical tasting which was amazing and we got to taste and experience the AH wines we know and love in many different vintages. All in all we tasted at least 10 different wines. This experience was sooooooo worth it and all the wine tasting you'll need in one day. We even cancelled the next vineyard we had lined up that day because we wanted to hangout longer at AH and the tasting experience we just had there could not be matched. It was a sentimental first visit for me earlier this week to Hope on Park. My partner who passed away earlier this year used to be a member at Austin Hope and their wine had been special to us these last several years. When my friend and I had to come down to pick up an old club shipment of his at another winery, I knew I had to stop here. Originally when we booked the reservation they let us know the tasting experience would last (at least) a whole two hours, coming from the Napa region we couldn't imagine how that would be possible for "just" a tasting. How incorrect we were, in such a good way. We were there for 3 solid hours and we could have easily stayed four. Our host Wes gave us one of the most memorable wine tasting experiences ever, and we've been wine tasting countless hundreds of times. His light and fun conversation, service, attentiveness, understanding of our situation, and all around a great time has raised such a high bar in the wine educator realm that I wish I could have given him more than a great review and a tip. Owners if you are reading this: Wes is gold! Safe to say after our special wine tasting visit we purchased bottles of wine. After we had checked out and were getting ready to leave, Wes came back with a signed bottle from the staff and with my partner's name inscribed on the side, in honor of him. I couldn't believe it. We're "wine club" members at a number of Paso Robles wineries, and so we look forward to our bi-annual "Wine Club pickups" as an excuse for a weekend get-away. We were coming up this weekend for our pickup at Austin Hope, and received an email about their recently opened "Hope on Park" location in downtown Paso Robles, along with their speakeasy-type "Creative Space". Instead of a list of wines per tasting, they have a choice of "creative" experiences. I'd like to say that this was the greatest, most-interesting, most fun, wine tasting experience we've ever had! It lasted 3 hours (because we said we had plenty of time; they can get you in-and-out in an hour if you need to)! And their facilities are absolutely gorgeous! We love chatting with our hosts at our wine tastings, and asking many, many questions. Our host, Wes, was absolutely amazing! It's clear how passionate he is about wine, because he lovingly spent over 3 hours with us, walking us through blind taste tests, smelling flavor profiles, and answering every question that we had. Do yourself a favor and book a reservation at "The Creative Space"! Hope on Park is not yet showing up in various restaurant search engines, but it's definitely worth tracking down, because word of mouth will soon spread, and it will become a hard reservation to get. read more

I came here as a part of a surprise 1 year anniversary trip with my girlfriend and something happened with my booking. Either I didn't confirm or I never sent confirmation. But they wanted to make my experience special with my girlfriend regardless. The staff took us into the back room and gave us a couple of seats and brought it out some wine for us to try. They gave us a tasting and were beyond friendly. The entire staff is extremely informative and was explaining the entire history of the wine and what makes it special. Wow- what an amazing experience. We had a party of 6 come visit this location over Labor Day and I have to say this was the best wine-tasting experience I think any of us have ever had. We decided to try out their portfolio tasting as our first stop for the weekend and it absolutely set the bar for our weekend. We were greeted outside by our host Nikki for an amazing sabering demonstration with some history of the winery as well as some delicious bubbles to start. Then she guided us through their beautiful building and we sat in this perfect little room for us to go through our tasting. I cannot speak highly enough of the wines we tasted, they were incredible from start to finish. However, for us, the best part was the experience. Our host Nikki truly went out of her way to make sure we had a special time and it was such a memorable experience. One in our party had never tasted wine before and Nikki went out of her way to make him feel welcome, teach him about the wines and the tasting process, as well as a special little gift for him as we were leaving. To say that this was a 10/10 experience is an understatement.
