Its Wine tour season and what better winery to see... As a "driver" I've seen and been to Justin many times. Its a "Wonderful" company. I'm sure you've heard of and tasted many of their items. Today it's wine with lunch. I picked up six for an anniversary celebration. This group forced me to sit and enjoy lunch with them. I was told by the "wonderful owner (a few years back) that this property is the only winery and restaurant in the country with a Michelin Star. I know it's difficult to obtain, I'm not sure how long that star lasts either. 90% percent of the dining is done on the patio surrounding the main room Our server Carley, she was pleasant and tolerated the guests (us) she served. Now the menu is short and expensive, more places & restaurants seem to going in that direction. I really wanted the tomahawk pork chop but I settled with the spring salad and a small portion of King Salmon. Justin's is known for their Burger and a side of truffle fries will put you back a bit. if you have to ask.... The wine was brought out one white and one red. I don't drink but both flavors were applauded. I ordered a bottle of sparkling water. The stories flowed, I didn't really know these folks, they were good AG people from Bakersfield. So we got acquainted, the most annoying thing were the flies. They had those table top fly spinners but on another table so that didn't help us much. The food was delicious, no question although the pasta dish with chicken for L had a very long and dark hair on it you really couldn't miss it. Other than that excitement we all enjoyed our meal. I had a couple slices of the pork, not as tender as I would have thought but it tasted real good. Salad a tad small but flavorful. I missed out on dessert, the wine was enough. Overall a very nice setting with a casual pace, perfect for those special occasions. This is at best a mediocre winery with OK views. If it's on your way you can go (I will not),but not something to be planned . There are way better wineries in Paso like Daou and Sculpterra. The people there care for your experience and every wine you taste is great and doesn't change with every sip. This place mostly was focused on extracting money. I went there because they were recommended by so many friends to me. That's probably where they are lucky. That's why people visit them and because they are so hyped the person visiting has to also like them. The employees here are not motivated enough to be nice or attend the guests properly during the end of the day. The lady on the front desk in front of the entry was super rude. In a 3 mins conversation she mentioned at least 4 times how they were about to close and they are unable to provide us anything except the wine tasting. We had an appointment for 3:30 and the winery closes at 5:00. I would have understood if it was 4:30. I was celebrating my birthday and I mentioned it. It literally meant nothing to her and she never mentioned it in her notes while she mentioned that they will do a chocolate flight with a candle. The guy who helped us with our wine tasting was good but visibly tired. He tried his best. Even arranged a charcuterie board for us. He did mention they were about to close but that made sense. He was genuinely happy to see us when we went inside to pay. The only good deed done to us was asking us if we needed waters for the road. Also I liked the breezy fan feature. The wines are not very appealing. A lot better can be done with the taste,recipes and fermentation process. The prices are very high for the experience and the wines. Next day we went to another winery with Amazing views. They were so welcoming and warm and the moment I mentioned I was celebrating my birthday they were extra pampering. There wine flights were appropriately priced.Every wine we tasted was great and even after my wine purchase I did not feel robbed.That was some unforgettable experience. At Justin our experience was DULL and TIRING and not good at all. I am never going to recommend Justin to anyone. PS- Don't go there because people are mentioning it the moment they hear Paso Robles. There wines are no better than the wines you get at the medium shelf of the drugstore. Views are just OK. Use your money at a better winery. read more

Back at Justin and was able to take my eldest daughter, her boyfriend and my Border Collie. I would not normally post a review, but we were talking about the travesty of Yelp reviews being mostly negative. I am a nobody. Sure, I am a longtime Wine Society member, but I don't expect a Michelin Star restaurant and one of Forbes best places in the world to remember me. They didn't know me; but it didn't matter Justin Winery and Restaurant, treated my party fantastic! Service was excellent. Food was great. Wine was superb. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Every time I walk through this vineyard I have the most incredible time. This review has been a long time coming. A recent member but consistent visitor. Visited this past weekend and was greeted by Mike , served by Kevin. Gorgeous view, whether a member or not the service is always on point. Perks of being a member is that you get a discount for having a great time. Brought my family and they got to indulge in the perks with me. Wine was top tier. They don't serve you what is in your local grocery store, they've got the exclusive wine here. Reserves hold a special place in my heart. Enjoyed all glasses but th Isosceles, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet , Rose...ok all of them were the best. lol Can't have a bad drink here. Justin is an award winning winery tucked deep in Paso Robles. I've tried a few of their bottles before, so I'm glad I finally made the trip here. We came in July, and the weather was perfect for some day drinking, I mean wine tasting. Ambiance: (5/5) Spacious, classy, and beautifully designed. The whole place gives Napa winery vibes, elegant yet comfortable. Service: (5/5) Kevin was awesome. Super knowledgeable, friendly, and funny. He made the whole experience even better. Food & Drinks: (4/5) We ordered the fried and curry nuts to pair with our wine. I went with the premium tasting, and my favorite was the 2020 platinum reserve. It was bold, dry and flavorful! 2019 Isosceles Reserve was my second favorite from the tasting. I've had this bottle before, but somehow it tasted even better on the property. This is probably the first winery that I've been to servers Fuji water with the tasting. I've been having some of their wine here and there at restaurants, and since I was in the area, I thought, WINE NOT?! I made a reservation because I'm from California, and that's just what we do. When I got there, there were more than enough tables for lunch and tastings. I got the basic tasting (because I'm an all reds NorCal girlie), and swapped out the sauv blanc with the rose. All of the wines were fantastic, howeeeever I DID feel like the isosceles should've come before the cab???? I paired everything with their truffle fries because the smell of the truffle fries from other tables was TOO irresistible. I had to, and loved my decision. My friends and I had wonderful time at Justin Vineyards and winery. We were helped by Kyle. He gave us a great tasting that was very informative and delicious. We had for lunch we shared the sea bass, summer pasta and summer salad. All wonderfully delicious would highly recommend. I would suggest to come towards the end of the day because it was rather hot but the staff did their best to keep my party and I cool. There are electric chargers throughout the parking facilities if you have an electric vehicle which is a plus if you are lucky enough to grab one they are slower chargers but it's free so that another plus in my eyes. We love Justin wine! However, you MUST come here for the burger!! It is so perfect, juicy and just hits the spot! The restaurant on site is Michelin star. Yelp removed/censored my first review of Justin Winery that included "the politics of the owners" which you can look into on your own or refer to my Google review for more insight. So, at the suggestion of Yelp I'll focus on my "firsthand experience" of Justin Winery which is just as unsavory. When we arrived at 2:45 pm we were told all of the other tables were reserved and we could not be seated anywhere except the table we were given. You'll see in the video attached that none of the other tables were seated from the time we arrived until our departure around 4:30 pm. We signed up for a membership at Justin but after doing *more research* and based on our experiences with their "hospitality"-- we will be cancelling. I hope this helps anyone visiting Paso Robles to really look into where your dollars are being spent. read more

A few weeks ago we had friends visiting from the Bay Area. They are BIG wine folk (esp. ports) and we toured several of the SLO county wineries to all our delight... except one. I told them that our hands down FAVORITE port was from Justin and we decided to make the trek out to their winery... only to be told by their staff that they do not do tastings for their port (nor their "Sunny's Block"... also a personal fav). "Okay, no problem, we'll just buy a few bottles of each." At which time we were told that they don't sell them to the public... at their chef's edict... and there was nothing they could do for us. I pointed out that I thought this was very odd... as both are currently available for purchase online. The staff was surprised by this, but said that their hands where tied. Well... we'll never make the trip out to Justin, nor buy any of their products, ever again. This winery is definitely one of the more popular, must-see spots and the scenery is undeniably beautiful. That said, it felt a little too commercial and crowded for our taste. Our server, Kevin, seemed overwhelmed, and the service was just okay a bit slow and not very attentive. When we asked about the food, his answers were vague, which made the experience feel rushed. Justin was one of two places I told myself I just had to visit if I ever made it up to Paso, so once we found ourselves up here it was a no-brainer. We arrived shortly after opening and were greeted by multiple employees as we walked inside. We decided to sit on the patio overlooking some of the vineyard so that we could enjoy some sun and I believe we were waited on by Thao. The vineyard even during off season is beautiful and I don't regret coming the time of year that we did. My wife and I each ordered a tasting of our own so that we could sample a little bit of everything. The service we received was exceptional. All of the wines we tried were explained to us in detail and each one was different and amazing in its own way. I've been drinking my locally-bought Justin Cabernet Sauvignon for a while now thinking that's what we'd be trying here, but I had no idea how many options they really offered. After enjoying our tastings we decided to take a special bottle home, so we purchased a bottle of the Isosceles Reserve which we're going to save for a special date. I would really like to come back when in season or on a weekend so that we could do the tour of the caves because it looks like a fantastic learning experience. read more

I'm going to have to bring this winery down to Earth since they claim to be THE premier winery in Paso Robles but they are definitely not the best. Justin, I know you believe it without having to say it, so we'll just start there. We'll start out with the positives, which would be the service (our waitress was nice, checked in on us in a timely manner), and the not only free but strong Wi-Fi which is essential in an area where you get no service. The outdoor area was also nice with a good presence of plant life as well as umbrellas to keep the sun at bay. Some of the historic Justin wines and pictures inside the building were cool too. Now lets get to the more important part which is why you even show up at place like this to begin with: wine. We had a tasting of 3 wines from the Estate tasting menu which was $45 per tasting. The first was meh, the second was good and the third, the isosceles was terrific. HOWEVER, I would expect all the wines and the self-proclaimed best winery in Paso Robles to be of great quality but the first one was mediocre! We had chocolate pairings which was also nice but there are other wineries out there that will charge you less than $45 and ALL of their wines will hit, when Justin gets a C+ average for the wine they served. You cannot have a C+ average on your tastings and try to justify these kinds of prices for a C+!!! If Justin were more humble about themselves then I would have given them a 4/5. One more thing, Justin is no longer owned by the family that originally founded the winery, so there's also that. They sold out to corporate beverage conglomerate, The Wonderful Company that owns Fiji Water which explains the wack pricing. read more

This was our first time coming here for dinner and the Justin blew our expectations away! It was our anniversary and we had just got engaged so we were looking to do something extravagant for dinner and we could not have picked a better spot. The service was top of the line. Everyone was so kind and respectful. The servers did not miss a single beat. The course was amazing. My fiancé did the wine pairing and I substituted the Japanese wagyu. Both were equally great choices. The deserts were amazing and would definitely recommend this place. The portions were small but we were pretty full by the time it was all said and done. We had the curated "dinner experience" at Justin last night. Anyone going there needs to understand exactly what you're getting into. First, it's located 20 miles down a winding dark rural roadway. Definitely not a good location if you're going to be having more than a glass of wine or two. Second, there isn't a menu. It's a fixed price pre-selected set of offerings and each course consists of just a tiny nibble. While several of the nibbles were beautiful and delicious, it's not a meal. I asked for some bread and got scoffed at. The wine servers were more interested in describing the intricate nuances of their winemaking, then providing us with adequate portions on a timely schedule. If you're going to dine there, catch a cheeseburger in town so you don't show up hungry. It's not really a meal. Also, by the time you put in a tip you're going to be out of $1000 for dinner for two. If you're really interested in hearing lengthy descriptions of vinticulture activities, maybe this is for you. If you're thinking about a romantic dinner, genuine portions, or ordering food of your own choice, go elsewhere. To be fair, about half the dishes were genuinely delicious and beautifully presented. However, the tiny portions, and lack of simple things like salt, pepper or bread upon request, left us fairly disappointed. All of the servers were wonderfully polite and the setting is beautiful. Made my reservations on Tock as soon as we planned our Paso Robles adventure. I found reservations were a bit confusing but basically, just reserve for the number of people in your party: each guest is not committed to a wine flight and/or food. They have a beautiful patio area overlooking the vineyard and the weather was perfect. My bf started off with the wine flight, and I ordered a glass of Sauvignon blanc. Justin has a seasonal lunch menu, but the Justin cheeseburger is a permanent fixture on it. My friends absolutely raved about this burger and our server told us it was "one of the top 3 burgers ever". We had high hopes, but actually found it salty. The perfect well balanced bite was in the middle with a bit of every item in it. The truffle fries were bomb. A must upgrade! We also ordered the cauliflower which had bits of braised lamb, pistachio, mint, and a yogurt drizzle. This was delicious! $49 wine flight is not cheap (well compared to Napa it is!), but is waived with a $100 minimum wine purchase, which of course we did. Please note: If you're purchasing wine and your lunch is on the same bill, make sure your tip amount is what you want it to be. I settled the bill when I was tipsy, (it was not itemized, just went directly to the tip screen), automatically pushed the 20% button only to realize once I got the receipt online hours later it was tip on the grand total. Justin wines have been one of my favorites of the central coast for many years. Now that I live in Paso, I relished at the opportunity to come see it up-close and in-person. RSVP is practically required. So, a few days before, we called and luckily got an afternoon spot. They have several tastings, but my party of 4 all opted for the $50 tasting. One white, and four reds. They were all fantastic, but the highlight was the famed Isosceles. Kevin, our educator, was so fun and had heavy pours. Perfect. We loved it so much, we joined the wine club. Incentives: the wine tastings were comped, and we got 30% off any bottle (I got 3). So, worthwhile indeed. The only downside is that we had a 2pm reservation, so we ate lunch beforehand, and had early dinner plans. Bummer! While dining with friends the other night, they ordered a bottle of Justin (red not sure cab, burgundy?). It was the equivalent of sewage in my opinion I could not get it down. My husband was nicer just saying that he found it un drinkable. I am in my 60's, my husband in his 70's we have enough experience with good, bad, and excellent wines but we can now say we have encountered the worst. Absolutely horrid. read more

Ever been somewhere you could actually sit at all day and it only feels like a little bit of time has passed - that was JUSTIN for my family one afternoon. First off the property is STUNNING. The windy roads to get there were a challenge for me - I was beyond nauseous from the windy roads but it was 100% worth it. The building and space is open and airy and beautiful, but the vineyards and gardening around it are what make the experience. And our server, Andrew - he hands down made the experience and went above and beyond with serving us and teaching us everything that came to mind. The premium wine tasting is a must do. Spread out over a few hours (and with some other special pours we were lucky to get) it really gives you enough of a variety to distinctly taste and appreciate each one. I don't like typical reds you pick up from the grocery store and I loved each red that was poured here. It's pretty night and day between these authentic bottles and grocery store stashes. Besides perfect wine - the lunch was exceptional. Like actually exceptional. I thought we'd be nibbling some nuts and bread or something appetizer like - absolutely not. We had the focaccia to start with the mushroom tapenade spread and that was amazing. Our whole table got the salad with some sort of protein and the burger. The salad. Is. Fantastic. Soooooo filling and fresh and you're looking a garden while eating it so it's hard not to be happy knowing (or hoping) some of the ingredients came from there. The burger is HUGE. Could easily feed 2 people. There's a huge patty and a thick slab of Brie melting on top. It's seriously gigantic, but so delicious. The BEST thing that we ate this whole trip though was truffle fries. If you go, get them. You won't regret it. Last thing worth mentioning is that our server, Andrew was amazing. We had a lot of people with a lot of questions and he wasn't phased. I loved Justin's Isosceles so much that I became a member. I don't recommend it. Their other wines are just average. But more importantly you can get their wines cheaper at retail outlets like Total Wine than their "member prices". Save shipping and avoid the minimum purchase. Bottom line- even if you like Justin wine, don't become a member and don't believe the "retail" prices they list on their site. And when I complained by both email and a phone call - I never got any response. read more

I would just like to respond to Paula L's review. Clearly she has NEVER been in the service industry in her career. We have been visiting Paso Robles for 10 years and we ALWAYS make a reservation because life happens and people call out of work for the day. Just because there are empty tables it doesn't mean that the business has enough staff to manage a full booking for the day. If they filled all of the tables It would mean that ALL of the customers would receive poor service. However if they reduce the reservations then the business can deliver excellent customer service. Maybe Paula L should spend sometime working in the industry so that she could understand the operational side of it before she complains. As someone who has worked in customer service ALL of her career. From restaurants, bars, retail and now corporate America I can absolutely disagree with her comments. We have been members at Justin for over 12 years and we have NEVER had a bad experience in any of the 3 locations in Paso. EVERYONE has been exceptional. From the service the food and especially the wine we have not once been disappointed. We have taken multiple guests wine tasting in Paso Robles and every single person has said "Justin was the best winery by far" I am not sure what Paula L's problem actually is and the fact that she called out Vern is actually the biggest LIE of all. Over the 12 years that we have been members, Vern has and will be the standout person for an amazing customer experience and going above and beyond. If I could give him 10 stars I would. Paula also needs to understand that being in leadership in an extremely busy restaurant/bar/winery is demanding and stressful. I am not making excuses but when you have a million things going on and you are short staffed, (I deal with it everyday) sometimes it might look like you are distracted which is COMPLETELY different to being "rude or snotty" All I can say to Paula is get a grip!! Appreciate that you are NOT special and not the only person in the world trying to have a nice weekend and that sometimes we misinterpret the situation.
