Good little gem in the neighborhood. Something is between upscale and speakeasy dive bar, not too loud, so you can actually enjoy the conversation. Bartenders sweet and cool. Service fast and easy. Indoor and outdoor seating available, Bar Henry is a cool little for in Echo Park serving up tasty cocktails in a friendly, local feeling environment. We tried a few cocktails when we visited. The Butthole Surfer is their version of a pina colada which, while decent, could have been a little more flavor forward. Feel it is premade in batches as I didn't see it made fresh but was brought getting the back, but still decent. The Lucid Dream had the smokiness from the mezcal posted with the mandarin, but then the rosemary comes in and helps add a little balance to the drink. The Swimsuit Edition was more flavor forward, but the passion fruit didn't necessarily pop in the drink for us. And finally was the Snitches Get Stitches, another mezcal drink with mango and horchats. Interesting was my first thought, then you start getting the nuances of the different interested and it's a respectable cocktail. Overall, good drinks, friendly people, chill atmosphere, and a nice addition to the bar scene in Echo Park

The award-winning cocktail bar has been named one of North America's best bars for 3 years in a row. The drink menu is also impressive with its illustrations and useful diagrams detailing techniques & flavor concentrations. The Southern-inspired dishes are equally creative and include Gluten Free & Vegan options. The forest green color scheme and terrazzo bar top emit a relaxed, chill vibe. The staff are all friendly and seem genuinely happy to work here. My friend and I sat at the bar. Bartender Tom was fantastic! He was welcoming and enthusiastic about explaining the drinks. Nikki oversees the wine club and she was also amazing! We both ordered La Frutera #4 - am homage to L.A.s fruit carts comprised of Lime leaf Tequila, Watermelon, Sunflower Seed, Coriander, & Lime. It was pretty and delicious! We also had the Pastelito - a plant-based milk punch inspired by the pastry featuring Tequila, Guava, Strawberry Aperitif, Hibiscus, & Coconut. It was well balanced and tasty. Tom was kind enough to give me a sample of the Koji Killer, which tasted like a vacation in a glass! We also shared the Smashed Cucumber & Melons and Buttermilk Biscuit, which came with seasonal jam & whipped butter. The cucumber & watermelon was tossed with Calamansi vinegar & herbs. It was light & refreshing. The Buttermilk Biscuit was fluffy, moist, & big enough for us both to share. If you are a wine connoisseur, my friend suggests signing up for their Wine Club. She's always happy with Nikki's picks. They also have a unique selection of Madeira wine available by the glass, which I'm looking forward to trying on my next visit. *Street Parking

I'm not even gonna lie, I saw this place from the outside and thought I was going to have to fight for my life. LOL! I'm a city girl and I can't help that it looked sketch on the outside. Blame my city upbringing, moving forward. LOL Now when we stepped inside, isssssa vibe! We sat the bar and immediately started ordering food. We let the bartender know that we don't drink and she offered to make these ice cold tea drinks and she killed it! Whatever she made, refreshed the hell out of me and I loved it! She was pretty chill and made us feel welcome. There was another gentleman there that took our food orders and I'm not sure if he was another bartender or the owner, but he was pretty chill, too. We didn't want to be in the way at the bar with all of our food while everyone was having a good time, so we moved to a table. People were having cold ones and dancing. It was good to see everyone enjoying themselves! I told yall---vibes! Little did we know at the end of the bar is a whole dining area! This joint was pretty big! So that's where you would pick up your food. When I tell yall we ate it down, we ate it dowwwwwnn! We ordered a half shrimp/half oysters po boy, fried pickles, charbroiled oysters, wings, and I forget what it was called but we had another po boy with everything from shrimp to gator....washed it all down with a cold Dr Pepper..don't hate. lol They already had me on the fried pickles, so I don't know what else to tell you except not to sleep on this place!****sings I'm going going, back back, to Cali Cali***

She will act like a B, turn around and will only pay attention to the men for very obvious tipping reasons ( female bartenders know this). BUT THE WORST THING? For the love of god, Swamp, remove me from your marketing texts. They will sell your info and bombard you with marketing texts. You hit report spam and they keep on changing numbers and sending texts. FFS swamp, stop or you're going to have some issues with reporting. As a child who grew up in restaurants because my mom was a server her whole life, I find myself to be hopelessly nice to staff and of course tipped the hipster bang bartender ( don't know her name but I had those bangs in 2016 so that's just her name to me) I was exceedingly nice and this bartender doubled down. Not sure why. Look, I'll never come back so I don't really care about the bartender, but I care about constant spam and disregard for patrons privacy. You're a bar so you gotta stop. You're not that important and everyone hates texts so you're burying yourself. Please stop.

To end the night before we headed off to dinner, we stopped by The Semi- Tropic bar for drinks. The parking situation was difficult to say the least-- there is no street parking or parking lot. And the neighborhood behind the bar is filled with park cars. We were lucky and parked at a parking lot that was for the surrounding business (so sorry to the pizza/ weed shop!). We arrived at around 6:30 PM so it wasn't too busy. We were greeted by one of the servers and she gave us options to either sit at a lounge table area or hightop tables. We opted for the hightop tables because we knew we weren't staying there for long. The server was friendly and patient as we looked over the menu for drinks. I've been sober for about a year so I only had water, my boyfriend ordered a Naoshima Dream, his cousin ordered a Mango Cart, and his cousin's girlfriend ordered a Lemon Drop Martini. The bar was super cute and hipster! I honestly would have loved going to this bar back when I used to drink. It's dimly lit, had a vintage 20's speakeasy feel to it and the music was a vibe. I'd recommend coming here for a little date with your partner or even coming with a group of friends. My boyfriend had been here once before and he said the food was really good and affordable. He had a panini and said for bar food it was a 10/10. We waited maybe like 10 minutes for our drinks to come, we were having such a fun time chatting and enjoying the environment that it didn't feel long at all. My boyfriend, his cousin, and his cousin's girlfriend really enjoyed their drinks. They said the drinks tasted "light" insinuating that there was barely any alcohol in it. Don't let the taste fool you, after finishing half of their drink there were full of smiles, giggles, and had a great buzz going. The prices here were all pretty fair for the cost and quality of the drinks. Would defintely recommend coming here for drinks and dinner for a date night or a night out with friends!
