    my DELICIOUS Steak Frites.

I just discovered Edendale today from some new Yelp friends of mine and decided to come try it out with my son. There is so much history embedded in this place! The area we now know as Silver Lake used to be called Edendale back in the day during the era of silent films, which is what the restaurant is named after. You can see black and white photos of stars from that era in the room where you first enter the restaurant. The building itself used to be a fire station and was later transformed into this restaurant in 2000. Very cool and neat backstory! It's a pretty big place with different rooms, a full bar and a beautiful patio. They even had a photo booth. The restaurant and bathrooms were also spotless clean. We were greeted by the lovely Becca and she took us to our table. Levi was our server and he was very kind and easy to talk to. He got our order in swiftly and everything came out correct and on time. For drinks, my son got the Bengal Tiger ($15) and I had an Apple Martini ($12 and light on the alcohol!). We shared a Caesar Salad with Grilled Shrimp ($25) and a side of Brussels Sprouts ($14). The salad was FRESH and the lettuce was crunchy. The shrimp was delicious and cooked to perfection, as were the Brussels Sprouts. For our entrees, Jaime brought out our orders with a smile. I ordered the Steak Frites ($40) and it was absolutely divine. It was exactly what a medium rare steak should be like. So juicy and flavorful, it melts in your mouth. My son got the Chicken Breast Au Jus ($27) which came with Celery Root Puree, Brussels Sprouts and Apple Cider Gastrique. He said he loved his food and wiped his plate clean. He said the chicken was very flavorful and juicy and cooked perfectly. We opted for no dessert this time around but we might get something sweet next time we're here. It's a bit of a pricey place but honestly, the quality was great and we very much enjoyed the service, ambiance, and history. Thank you Becca, Levi, Jaime, and Edendale for a lovely night!

Pretty cool spot with roomy backyard. Vibes is 1920s, or artsy casual. It's quite cute. I usually would not order chicken breast but it was surprisingly good. Crispy skin and meat was not dry at all. Mussels were delicious too. Happy hours 5- 7 pm (Tuesday to Sunday) & 5-10 pm on Mondays.

I came here with a couple of good friends for a late birthday celebration and what a meal we enjoyed. Shoutout to Levi that provided top-tier service and went above and beyond for us. I had the Spicy Rigatoni Allá Vodka and it was one of the best bowls of pasta I've eaten in the past DECADE (yes, it was that good). A friend ordered the Chicken Breast Au Jus and it tasted as good as you'd expect a chicken breast to taste... so, mid flavor but it truly is juicy and not dry at all (it's quite difficult to cook a chicken breast that's actually an appealing dish). My other friend ordered the Salmon Succotash and that was great. We also got a Charcuteried & Cheeses board to share amongst us (we had to get a 2nd order of the bread (at no extra cost) since the first one ran out rather quickly), and that was stellar as well. 10/10 food and 10/10 service.

First time coming here on a Friday and I'm shocked it took me this long to stumble upon this gem. It was busy for a Friday night, but we were able to find a table right away after ordering our drinks. They have a great selection of drink options, though we decided to keep it simple with mezcal on the rocks. I loved the aesthetics and overall vibe of this place. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.

Edendale is an area of Silver Lake that used to be a major center for silent films. The restaurant feels like a mini museum of sorts of the silent film era with it's wall of pictures featuring actors of that time. The restaurant is in a former 1920's firehouse and has a patio that reminds you of a place in Europe, so it feels like a nice getaway spot from all of the city noise and traffic. The food is good but it's your standard American food. The cheeseburger I ordered was good but nothing special. The crafted drinks at the long beautiful bar are worth going to Edendale. And the openness at the bar allows one to rest without feeling cramped like some bar vibes can give you.

Sigh... another day in L.A., another pointless 17 dollar carbohydrate missile posing as a burrito. Just, stop. You're not jazzing it up with the dreaded Sysco tator tot. ("Letting Tator Tots Die" is another review I will leave elsewhere.) This particular Edendale version was dry and spirtiless. Not one spec of a fresh herb in sight. A tiny ramekin of tomato mulch posing as salsa was given to us. But frankly I have seen better flavor samples at the Alhambra Costco. I should have known better to trust a place that is filled with cigarette smoke at 11 a.m. on a Saturday. Smoking is permitted in the back garden area, but when the front door is open the smoke wafts through the entire restaurant and bar. The irony of this happening in a former fire house is not lost on me. Service was fine, if not tepid. My cocktail as fine, but it was mezcal, so smokiness was in-line with my olfactory sense. The biggest burn was the $4 upcharge for avocado. We are in California - get over yourself, Edendale.

Charm oozes onto the street from Edendale's entrance.

There is something about Silver Lake that really speaks to me. In some ways, it reminds me of NYC where I grew up, i.e., the oldness, realness, grittiness even, but with the golden glow of Los Angeles. Because it is such an interesting area, it has a lot of one of a kind, niche restaurants. I think Edendale is one. Why? It's very pretty, quaint, old-fashioned, and comfortable. Originally, I had planned to sit inside but it was a warm, sunny February day and the lovely outdoor patio called to me. The entire time we were there, little unseen birds serenaded us and we were shielded from the road by a gorgeous wall of red and pink bougainvillea. Everything was delicious. We had vegetarian brunch items (see my pictures), ginger ale and coffee American style. I could not improve on any of it. Becca was a perfect server, efficient, friendly, cheerful and other staff stopped by to take care of us while we were there. It does seem like a team effort to keep patrons happy and it works. There were even some very well behaved pups that appeared to be enjoying their visit too. By the way, the prices are very modest for Los Angeles. We were very pleasantly surprised at the tab and there was no automatic charge. I cannot think of one element I would change at Edendale. I want a place like this to be here, exactly as it is, forever.

Great historic building. Love the architecture of this spot. Drinks are great. Only tried the biscuits and probably wouldn't try it again. Would love to try the other items. Lots of flies and ants though which bothered me quite a lot.

Edendale is a top tier date and brunch spot. Great bites for brunch with drinks to match. I'm a big fan of their corn beef hash! Big pieces and not too salty. The establishment itself is a repurposed firehouse. The design, feel, and vibe is nice from the pictures on the wall to the furniture. There's also a front and back patio so there's a place to sit outside on a nice day. Service was great as well. We were seated quick and constantly attended to.

Two Egg Breakfast with tempeh bacon and biscuit

Hidden gem in LA. Simple food done well. Came on a Sunday at 2pm. No wait, ordered at the bar, reasonably priced, quick service...will definitely come back. Tempeh bacon is a great option, grilled shrimp on the Cesar was amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

I quite like this place! Good food, nice service, quirky decor. Pretty good cheeseburger. Great Caesar salad. Nice mocktails. You probably won't get any internet connection in there, so ask for their Wi-Fi info. Parking a bit difficult.

My friend chose this restaurant and I am excited to try a new place. We had a reservation for a party of five on a Saturday evening. We chose to sit outside for the ambience as they turned on lights in the evening. It felt brighter sitting outside vs. inside. Here's everything we ordered: Cauliflower piccata Chicken breast au jus Steak frites Pilsner Ginger beer Smoking maid Simm's cup Asparagus tempura Charcuterie board Parmesan tater tots Warm berry cobbler Bread pudding Cashew vanilla cheesecake The servers are extremely welcoming. Food came out in a perfect timing. We started off with drinks and appetizers, followed by the main course and finished with desserts. The atmosphere, delicious food and great company made this night perfect! Personally I enjoyed Cauliflower piccata and Steak frites very much. I cannot wait to come back and try other dishes on the menu. Parking can be difficult to find. I was able to find street parking in the neighborhood.

The food is excellent, having tried the schnitzel, kielbasa, steak frites and pierogis. If you have room in the end, the bread pudding is fantastic. Outdoor patio seating is great, and reminds of eating outdoors in a European cafe. Indoor seating is a little cramped if you're at one of the tables, which also sort of mimics European cafes. My one small knock on this restaurant is the service has been inconsistent. Couple times our waiter was great, but a couple times it was hard to flag them down, they didn't space out the dishes very well as the appetizers and entrees all came out the same time, or they forgot to bring water when we asked for it. Small things to complain about overall though.

First off, I have to praise 1933 group because I have loved every single bar they have revitalized and this one is no different. In keeping with their MO, The Lucky Tiki is a speakeasy with a vintage vibe. I won't give away how to get in but let's just say, it's near the front of Highland Park Bowl. My husband and I didn't have a reservation, but we were able to put our name in and got seated about an hour or so later. I was amazed as soon as I walked in the door! It's just floor to ceiling decorated with everything tiki. So many fun details and even interactive elements that turn on when a particular drink was ordered. That was probably my favorite part honestly. We ordered the Tiki Diablo, which is a large tiki drink with a flaming volcano. And yes it does have an interactive element. It was really good. Very fruity and strong, but not overly so. Service was excellent. Our waitress was on it and even waited to make sure my husband was back from the bathroom before lighting our drink on fire. We didn't try any food this time, but a lot of people were ordering the Hawaiian pizza. Do with that what you may. Will definitely be back ti try more drinks and food.
