I've got a "problem" when it comes to plants. I love 'em...and as a result, my house looks like a jungle. When I moved back to the Donelson area, there was JVI in all their landscaping beauty, beckoning me to come on in and take a look. But I resisted. I knew I'd spend money I didn't need to spend for more plants that I don't need to procure. Fast forward. One day, as winter started her approach, I happened to notice JVI's Christmas beacon of strategically placed lights...all the greenery, the signs....AUGH! I knew it was going to lure me in eventually. A few weeks later, we found ourselves stopping here on a whim...at my sudden outburst of insistence, of course. The twinkling lights had finally hooked me. It was already dark. The lights, the music, the smell of a campfire, signs promising trees, wreaths, and hot cocoa.... Yeah, totally hooked. As we walked down the entrance corridor, I noticed the decorated greenery swags adorning the fence walls for sale starting at $12.99. Not bad! An employee greeted us and asked if we were there looking for a tree. I politely explained we were just there to browse...because the lights had mesmerized me, blah, blah, blah. The employee then offered to bring us each a hot cocoa. Wow! What service! It wasn't all that hot, but whatever. We loved it, and the mini marshmallows were a nice touch. A bonfire complete with seating was nicely burning. Christmas music played. Greenery everywhere. Trellises with lights. (Is that the actual plural of "trellis"?) Splendid. Most of the fresh, undecorated wreaths ready for purchase were around $55+...but I didn't spend too much time looking through them since I already own a lovely wreath. We wandered through the trees for sale, and found a "house" (a fancy shed), all decked out with lights, complete with reindeer curtains that I am still all giddy over. It's designed in mind for customers to snap photos with this super cute house as a backdrop. They even supply a tripod for your use! JVI also sells bundles of two types of greenery and magnolias at $5.00 each. An employee helped me to select the most fragrant of the greens offered. (I've made a lovely centerpiece out of them using a glass canning jar as a vase.) As I headed to the cashier station inside, I browsed their shop first. Lots of seasonal and non-seasonal items for sale. A good place to find something unique for the gardener in your life. (Hint. Hint.) I asked if they have any charcoal for sale (for use with succulents/cacti). They didn't, but quickly offered a few recommendations of other local shops in town that do. Very classy. Yes, I'm hooked. Wow, I am glad to find this on yelp. 12 years ago when I first moved in, Derek J started doing water features/ponds etc. Super excited as my contractor hired him to put one in our yard. It looked great and we were happy --- for a brief period. That was when the leaks wouldn't stop. Well, it must be this.... they came out and "fixed it". Must be that.... they came out and "fixed it". Well it was none of that until they just quit coming out and wouldn't answer calls. At that point, I hired another company to come out and try to stop the leak. First thing they said was "why in the world did they put the pump where they did .... then they moved it. Next thing they ran a whole new line to the waterfall --- needless to say, all these repairs cost the exact same amount as the original amount I paid DJ. Frustrating is not even close to what I feel about it. The nursery may be cute and I am sure the plants are fine. They did our landscaping and that is ok as well. But, think long and hard before hiring them to put in your water feature knowing full well that there may be no customer service on the back end.... unless they happen to get it right the first time. read more

This place is such a gem! I went in to find a birthday gift for a friend while visiting from out of town and they were so friendly and helpful. They even potted the plant for me in the pot I fell in love with - and took care to explain what soil they had used and also how best to care for it. They helped me pick the perfect gift that is still thriving even though my friend doesn't have the greenest thumb. And the grounds are also so lovely and peaceful. Beautiful spot! read more

I had to make an appointment for a phone call with the landscaper--an appointment just for a phone call. 5 minutes before the call was scheduled, he texted me a cancellation (he was at the doctor's). Okay, understandable. I had to go to the website and re-schedule the call, which I did, for the next available date. 5 minutes before THAT call, he cancelled again (illness). Okay--why I had to be tethered to the phone all day when he knew he was sick and could have texted earlier, I don't know, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I texted back and asked him to just call me when he felt like it, so this morning, 10 days after the first scheduled call, he texted that he'd call me "in the afternoon." It's 7:30 pm right now. No call, not text, no nothing. This is how you treat customers? I'm trying to give you money to do a job and this is what I get? Trying to support my local businesses, but not if I have to beg. read more

I paid a significant amount of money to have some areas of my water feature repaired and more rocks put in. I sent a message to Travis with pictures showing areas of need. They completed most areas except one in which he said I did not communicate I needed that area done. I still have the original message showing I did. Now they want to charge me $450 more to finish the job that should have already been done. I've used them for several cleanings in the past and they don't really do a thorough job of that either. read more

Not only do they sell plants but Derrick and his crew can come out and landscape your yard if you don't have time to do it yourself. Always wanted a water feature or a pond with or without fish. Guess what they even build those for just about any budget. I have been a customer for about 5years,they not only treat me like family but all customer's. A great nursery with some of the absolute nicest people around. So helpful, knowledgeable and kind. Can't recommend enough.

If you ever get around the Donelson area you have to stop by this nursery. Some of the best displays of man-made ponds and waterfalls I have even since. The nursery itself it's like a little oasis beautiful plants a lot of unique ones that you don't see every day there's no Home Depot or Lowe's here! I've always been fond of ponds! I wish one day to have one! My mom and dad have one and Hummingbirds love them. Prices are better then the Nashville franklin and Brentwood area too! read more

Paid over $2,100 (nearly twice what it was the year before) for annual maintenance and when we called about lights not working shortly after, they insisted on a service call charge to come back. WARNING: Derek at JVI may be very talented, but we asked for an estimate and paid him $250 for a home visit and design. when we did not hear back within weeks, we called, but he did not return our calls. After months, he finally called and advised that he was embarassed, and wondered if we still wanted a design bid for a fishpond. We had lost all confidence, and declined. read more

After having a disaster with the landscaping company I had paid to do my yard, I hired JVI and they connected me with people to correct the problems such as sprinkler system. JVI planted shrubs along the front of the house and mulched around them. House looks beautiful and am so glad that I chose JVI for my landscaping needs. HIGHLY RECCOMEND. read more

The cutest place! Came here to get my Christmas Tree; was met with a greeting and a hot cocoa. The trees are all named, so you can get pretty attached to it. Once you pick your tree, they let you take a picture in their picturesque gingerbread with the name of your tree on a sign. I'll be coming back in the coming seasons to see what else they have.
