I had a 12pm tattoo appointment today and no one showed up to even open the tattoo shop. I called my artist and reminded him that he had an appointment today and nothing no call back no text message no nothing. He's my artist so I gave him the benefit of the doubt but I haven't received a call back from him. He had me hanging around for 2 hours for my appointment. It all started with a simple tattoo idea for an ambigram. It is wording that says a word one way and says another if you flip it over. I had asked several artists if they could do it and their pictures were awful and ideas were not in line with mine. I met Jim through a friend and instantly he knew exactly what kind of tattoo I wanted. I scheduled an appointment, went in and looked at the sketch and the rest is history from there. Jim is an incredible artist. I find it hard to really express how amazing he is. It all comes down to his willingness to work with you and tweak it. He is so personable and really sees what will fit with your personality. I have never really given him exact details of what I wanted and he would just run with it. I now have a half sleeve and he added and fixed my back piece. I will never go to another artist because Jim just "get's me." Not easy by the way. His shop fee is on the lower end of average. His shop is immaculate and everything is completely clean and sanitized. read more

After several months of careful planning, artist renderings, and scheduling I got started on my back piece last Wednesday. I'm only 2 hours in to what will most likely be a 20-25 hour job so far. It's nice to be able to speak from experience in Jim's chair now instead of just seeing his work on other people. I have one of 2 figures on my back outlined so far. We also got started on the shading work for that figure. I'm honestly astonished with the work thus far. The amount of detail, realism, and depth Jim is able to achieve is something that is not easily found. He took the ideas I gave him and created a great sketch. The small tweaks and adjustments he has made from the sketch to my back are even better! Seeing Jim prep his station for work could easily be made in to a demo video to teach other artists how it should be done. Everything is kept organized, impeccably clean, and easy to reach. Being pretty OCD myself I was very impressed to say the least. The best part of the entire ordeal though has been the discovery of Jim's technique. He has a very light touch with the needle. Being able to do the work without putting me through any more discomfort than is necessary is a HUGE bonus. Getting my entire back covered will be a piece of cake with the way he works. I can't say enough good things about my experience so far at JW's Archangel Tattoo!! There is not a place I've been to ANYWHERE that I would recommend over Jim's shop. I have plans to do a half-sleeve and decided I wanted to do a little bit of "homework" on some local tattoo artists. The plan was to research online, then schedule an appointment with an artist, look over their portfolio and get a feel for their personality, service and artistic input. Jim, the owner of JW's Archangel, was personable, thoughtful and simply one of the nicest guy's I've ever met. The kind of guy you could have over for a bbq. I showed him some photos and my thoughts on my tattoo design, and he offered great insight, ideas and perspective of how the design would be more aesthetically pleasing to me and anyone who I'd want to share it with. He discussed the length of time it would probably take given my parameters so I'd know how much I'd likely be investing in the longrun. I had also brought my girlfriend who was looking to have some work work done as well, and he was really patient with both me and her and our litany of questions. Along with that, we were able to see some of his fresh and past works from customers who were there before we arrived. Since my own budget is a bit tight, I wasn't quite ready to invest in my large project given the number of hours it would take, but I knew that I liked him as an artist and businessman so my girlfriend and I came back the following day to have some smaller pieces done. His shop is well-lit, sanitary and the staff acknowledges you the minute you walk in. I would HIGHLY recommend anyone looking for a quality tattoo and service to check this shop out. I went in yesterday just to get a price check on my first tattoo and the feel of the place. JW Archangel was laid back and chilled. The energy I the place was friendly and relaxing. I talk to Ronnie "Junior" and unlike the others he took the time to talk to me about what will happen has I get older and what will happen to the tattoo. He also told me that I need to eat a good meal before I go in to get a tattoo, bring in something to drink, and a candy bar or two so that my body will know it's ok. I got my belly button pierced here a couple months ago by Rikki and I have to say this place is totally awesome. Everyone here is very friendly and shop itself has a welcoming feel. We barely had to wait at all to go in the back for my piercing. Rikki was incredibly sweet and patient while I picked out my ring and waited for my for other friend to show up. As she was about to pierce my skin, I had a mini freak out and she immediately stopped what she was doing to make sure I wanted to go through with it and was feeling alright. After I decided I was ready, she pierced me and put the jewelry in super quickly. Rikki made sure to follow up with after care instructions and then we were on our way. She's fabulous! In fact my friend that came with me decided to get her belly button pierced with Rikki as well after seeing how professional and kind she was. read more
