Had came in for a small needed cover up. I talked to Fat Cat himself he was very friendly as he was already doing some work some another client. He gave me a price and also when he could do. I decided to wait for my turn, he was very hospitable in asking if I wanted him to call me when he is done for me to come back. The store was pretty awesome and done Americana tattoo style. Great portfolio's of the artist tattoos and styles, you see the designs and finished product. Very inviting not at all a creepy feeling tattoos being someone who's is fully sleeved on both arms I have been in plenty and can tell that vibe. Came by on a Sunday afternoon. The website and the door on the shop had two separate hours of operation and I went between the hours they were open and no one was there. The outside of the store even had all the "open" signs lit up. No one answered the phone either. Business lost. Also I hit up the IG page and someone got back to me the next day. I want to preface this review that this is purely about the piercing and not the tattooing. I came to get my ears pierced almost 3 years ago and had one of the best experiences ever. Being scared to get my first piercing, Tina had eased all anxiety I was feeling with her amazing bedside manner. Eventually, a year ago, I decided I wanted to get my nose pierced. I was surprised to find a different piercer named Kitty had taken over as the piercer here. No worries, last time was great so I'm sure Kitty would be great too. She's very quiet, but also very blunt. I had asked her opinion on the placement of the nose piercing and she said she didn't care because it's not on her. I don't get pierced often and just wanted a little affirmation that it wasn't going to look horrible. I committed to it anyways. The lack of privacy back there was rough. You could see straight out into the room where people were walking back and forth. If I was getting a more intimate piercing I would have been so much more uncomfortable with that lack of privacy. She pierced my nose very quickly and was quick to try and charge me out. Before I could react, my nose was a waterfall of blood. She looked at it and said "that doesn't usually happen" and handed me a cotton ball to shove up there. That was such a long and painful healing process and it's only just now healed fully. She didn't accept card at the time, I don't know if she accepts it now, but luckily she accepts Venmo so I was actually able to pay. It was a very painful recovery for my nose and I chose not to go back to her when I got my septum done. To my surprise, Tina opened up her own shop, so I went there and had a much better experience. If you are looking for a piercer with good bedside manner or privacy, I'd probably avoid coming here. I'm never going to be coming back here for my future piercings. If you don't care about the bedside manner aspect or privacy though, then you could probably do worse than some other places. read more

Random impulsivity brought me and my best friend to Fat Cat Tattoo on a Tuesday night. We decided on a spur of the moment to get her medusa pierced ($50) and I would re-pierce my lip ($40). They take customers for piercings until 7 PM. Kitty was our piercer. Quiet, very few words. Sanitary. Contact-less payment available such as Venmo, which was handy. We were in and out of there in no time. Kitty was knowledgeable in what she was doing but did not provide much in the aftercare education. I got my septum pierced here a super long time ago and it looks great and it healed really well :) The only thing is, everyone in the shop was high and they were smoking inside of the building. I came here a couple of years ago with some friends who wanted nose piercings, and they had a good experience. So, when I wanted mine done, I came here since I was familiar with the place. Super friendly people running the shop and Kitti was a great piercer. Answered all my questions and definitely knows what she's doing. So far my nose is healing really well with no irritation. Also, three of my buddies got nose piercings here and everything healed great for them. I'm aware pricing might change but to anyone who's curious, a normal nose piercing is 35 dollars, and you can pay an extra 10 for a diamond stud instead of all metal. Compared to other places near me Fat Cat has the most reasonable prices. I'm thinking of getting a helix ear piercing so I'll return here if I do that. read more

I want to stress that I've had very positive experiences at other Fat Cat locations. Madison Ave. and Fair Oaks locations have been super clean, professional, and friendly. Sydney at Madison Ave. did great with my helix piercing a while back. Me and a friend were closer to the Greenback location and decided to walk in for lobe piercings. Piercer (person named Kitti) did not check ID or have us sign any consent forms (this is NOT in line with my experiences at other Fat Cat locations). Me and my friend both bled more than we ever had, but one of my ears gushed profusely down my neck/face and onto my shirt. I told Kitti that I heard a loud crunch when she pierced my lobe, and she responded saying I shouldn't have, and left it at that. I didn't realize how badly I was bleeding at first, until one of the tattoo artists called after me as I was on my way out to hand me a paper towel to soak up blood. I sat in my car for 10 minutes waiting for the bleeding to slow, unsure whether or not to apply pressure at the risk of jostling the jewelry. None of this felt right, so I called another piercing studio and got seen immediately. They assessed that I had been pierced upwards through my cartilage, and that that ear likely wouldn't have healed at all. I had that piercing removed completely, and had the jewelry on the other replaced and the remaining blood on both ears cleaned up. I don't want to discourage anyone from checking out the other locations, but avoid Greenback at all costs. read more

I got my tattoo a while ago, but I just got yelp... sooo... I got my tattoo done in about 2017. I wanted a black cat behind my ear. The design was simple and small (but not too small). It literally turned out to look like a fat blob. It's 2020 now and I STILL have people either making fun of the tattoo or super confused as to why there is a blobby circle behind my ear. I am absolutely mortified at the work someone did at this shop on my son. It was one of the worst tattoo's I have ever seen. Pretty sure it wasn't even an artist it was just some chick they brought off the street and pretty sure she had her damn eyes closed the whole time she was putting this permanent drawing on a real person. It is horrible that this business allowed this type of extremely unethical business practice to occur. My son even went back in after paying for this atrocity and they basically shoed him away, with an attitude of it's not their problem. They did not offer to try and fix it or refund his money. Even a blind person could see just how God awful this tattoo is. I am here to say with all the better choices of tattoo shops around the Sacramento area run as fast as you can away from this sub par business. They obviously do not give a crap about with standing proper business etiquette and or practices. read more

Ugh I hate leaving negative reviews. I hoped this place would be ok because it's so close to my house. I felt incredibly unwelcome here, the people who work here are very unkind. I get that it's a tattoo place but I don't think I've ever been treated so poorly, like they actually hated me. No smiles, dirty looks, sarcasm, just outright hostility. It was almost comical. I want to note, at no time did I make a fuss or even contradict them in any way, I never balked at the cost of service, I paid for the service and left. I'm truly baffled as to what caused this treatment. I'm glad that others have had a good experience. My friend and I went in for piercings. In total we got 3 lobe piercings, 1 cartilage piercing, and a nose ring swap. Our piercer Kitti was a homie for real! We loved her!! She's super knowledgeable about piercings and has been in the business for almost 20 years. She uses barbell earrings so your ears heal faster and have less chance of getting infected. She was so fast we barely even felt the needles go in. We were able to pay in cash, venmo or cashapp!! 10/10 recommend and we're coming back once these heal!! read more

When I asked if it was $30 flat, the employee hesitated to tell me because she had earlier told everyone it was $20 and above for a sand dollar sized tattoo. I've had my eyebrows, septum, ears (multiple), tongue, lip and now my nipples pierced and let me tell you, experience and attitude in your artist is everything. This girl knows her craft, and she's such a sweetheart!! She made me feel much more comfortable than I was going in, I have tiny nips so I was worried. Of course it hurt, but most of them do lol. I just want people to know that she made it a very pleasant experience for me and my boyfriend. I got the nipples and he got an industrial I think it's called. When getting tattoos and piercings you should always do your homework and talk to your artist. At the end of the day if you get something awful it's most likely because you didn't do your homework. I knew she was good because I've seen her pierce a couple friends. I went a bit ago to get my nose and my smiley pierced. As soon as I showed up I was taken in very quick to the back. Honestly the service wasn't stellar but understandably so since they were so busy. My piercer took her time to make sure I liked the placement of my nose piercing and that was wonderful. My only issue was that when she pierced my smiley she did not do it correctly and it was not centered. I called back the following day and got it re-pierced for free since she had messed it up the first time. So it's a mixed review, but of course always better to go to a place that does them well and takes the time to make sure the client is happy with the results instead of rushing them out. read more

I got a rook ear piercing here about a year ago and have had issues since day 1 with this particular piercing. i have many piercings and have never had issues, except for with the one i received at fat cat. i had called the shop on multiple occasions, to get in contact with the piercer however it would either ring with no answer or get answered and immediately put on hold then hung up on. i had also tried reaching the shop on social media and was left on read. Although i know how to take care of a piercing, after getting this piercing from them they offered no aftercare instructions or advice. simply felt like "pay me and leave". I consistently clean this piercing and am very careful with it. I went to two different piercing shops to get second & third opinions because i knew something was not right and both shops stated that this piercing was incorrectly placed. The incorrect positioning and low quality of jewelry has caused months and months of unnecessary pain and frustration. I hope this shop invests in better training and jewelry. read more
