First thing I noticed was the giant evil eye pendant hanging on the wall facing the customers. Message received: behave yourselves and be kind... the café is watching. Honestly, I respect the energy. You order at the counter, which keeps things simple and relaxed. My husband ordered the ahi tuna poke bowl, and I went with the Green Goddess salad with tofu. My salad was excellent. It had kale, carrots, onions, chickpeas, tofu, and avocado, and everything tasted fresh and well balanced. The tofu was actually flavorful (which tofu lovers know is not always guaranteed in the wild). It felt healthy but still satisfying. Chris really liked his poke bowl too and cleaned the whole thing up, which is always a good sign. The café itself is super cute and cozy, the kind of place you can imagine popping into regularly for lunch or a quick healthy meal. After a slightly disappointing dinner elsewhere the night before, this place felt like the universe saying, "Here, have some redemption food." We'll definitely be back. And we'll be extra nice... because that evil eye is clearly keeping watch.

It leans more to the glowing healthy aesthetic as opposed to the gym bro aesthetic (although it does have a bunch of protein/"muscle" smoothies). I got the Recovery Smoothie, which was a next-level strawberry banana smoothie. The price was $14, which was surprising (I am from NYC and that is what smoothies cost in midtown Manhattan). The smoothie was delicious and even had seeds and things which added a fun texture. It was very fun for vacation, if I lived here, it would be a very rare treat just because of the price point. The service was fine.

Swapping almond milk for coconut water now costs an extra $2. The same upcharge applies if you swap almond milk for cold brew. For a simple substitution, that feels excessive. Almond milk doesn't work for me due to oxalates, and the only "equal" swap offered is oat milk, which is highly processed and high glycemic. Coconut water, while not perfect, is the best option for me--yet it still comes with a $2 upcharge. At that point, the total is almost $20 for a smoothie bowl, which I can't justify. The quality is still there, but between the high base price and extra charges for basic swaps, I don't go nearly as often anymore.

Both times, the restaurant had a steady stream of waiting customers. I was amazed that the staff remained calm under pressure and worked steadily to get all of the orders out. The young lady who appeared to be the manager, did a great job of redirecting as necessary and keeping things running smoothly!

When I arrived it had not been made yet. A young gentleman made it and handed me the smoothie. I took a sip immediately cause I was thirsty and hungry. I usually have a smoothie as a meal replacement or treat. This time it was a meal replacement. I felt a chunk of something but disregarded it thinking it was a piece of ice since it had just been made. I continued on my way and kept noticing pieces of "ice" I thought until I caught one with my tongue and noticed it was not dissolving. I pulled it out of my mouth and looked at it and it was white with what appeared to be metal or foil. The piece was sharp rigid and not very pliable. Meaning hard to bend. I was driving when this happened so once I had pulled over into a parking lot I called the cafe. It was now about 25 mins after from picking up my order. I spoke with Key who stated she was the manager on duty but was getting ready to leave in 30 mins. She said she was going to check the blenders to see if there was a defect and I told her of my supplements I got as well. I asked that if she found what I had ingested to please call me back as I have stopped drinking the smoothie and was feeling something caught in my throat. Kept trying to clear my throat but did not get rid of the sensation of something caught in my throat now burning from irritation. Key kindly offered VIP cards and told me to reach out to corporate for a refund since I purchased through the mobile app. I brought the drink back to show the white pieces in the smoothie all the way down to the bottom. A little over half of the smoothie I gulped before questioning the pieces. The smoothie was thick so made these pieces go down smoother without realizing the amount that was in the cup. When I got back to the cafe with my bad smoothie I met Logan who was very nice, next shift manager on duty. The gentleman that made my smoothie was still working his shift. I told Logan about the conversation I had with Key and he took care of me by giving the VIP cards and remaking the drink assuring me that there would be no foreign objects in it but used my sticker from my bad smoothie on my new smoothie so that there would be no paper trail of remaking the smoothie. I drank it hoping it would soothe my throat from the burning and clear out that "caught in throat" sensation. I always try to seek the silver lining in things but to no avail I started to have a weird taste in my mouth around 6:30pm on 6/27/26 and my stomach was turning/ cramping. I obviously had to use the bathroom and got violently sick and also threw up. I did not sleep well last night and today is 6/28/26. I am still having the "burning, caught in throat" sensation, my stomach is still making noises/ cramping and I am burping and farting weird smells. (Sorry for the TMI, I'm providing as much detail as possible). I never got a call back from Key which I had requested if she learned what I had ingested. Logan stated that maybe it was pieces of the blade or blender mechanism. I was told to reach out to Corporate by Key to request a refund. Corporate keeps telling me that the email from 6/29/26 had no response from the store to authorize the refund. I missed work days due to my stomach and metallic taste in my mouth. I am being dismissed left and right from corporate and at the store level. Rylan Miller (female) is the owner of several tropical smoothies in Horry County. I will never return to ANY Tropical Smoothie ever! I work in the medical field and the severity of swallowing sharp metal blade shavings could be life threatening to my esophagus, GI tract or if swallowed incorrectly trauma to my lungs!! I could go on but I will be seeking legal counsel for this disgraceful food service! Llw7987@hotmail.com if management wants to discuss further. Laura Kershaw Negative Infinity stars....
