I have been taking my Accord to K & K for about 4 years. I have also taken the same car to other places in the meantime (for example, to Primo Honda for recalls, and oil change at the same time). So I have been able to compare the service at K & K with others. K & K is one of those few shops were the service level is above that of dealerships (which generally do good quality work). When I have taken the car to other mechanics, none noticed any issues with past work done at K & K. Cost is roughly 30% lower than dealerships and you get more personal attention at K & K. He is not rushing to finish work on my car to get to the next car. I feel that he has done a thorough inspection and repair. He explains the work done thoroughly and retains the replaced parts to show me what the problem was. Sometimes while doing major service, he finds some minor issues and fixes them without extra charge. He seems honest and frank. For example, he told me that if I am only driving locally then it is not as important to replace the old radiator hoses, but for long distance travel highly recommended it to avoid getting stranded. Took my grandma's car that I've inherited into K&K Auto. Needed to get a smog check done. Noticed that, on Yelp, Ken had the best prices for a smog check. However, since he had so many other cars to work on, he wasn't able to do it right then and there. If you are in a rush, this may not be the place for you? I live close by and had the day off, so I just walked home. When I came back, he shared with me some things the car need to get done. And on top of that he helped fix the headlamp that was messed up from an accident my grandma was in. That was an extra star in my book. He went above and beyond. I originally came down here with a friend who came to check if there were any problems with her car. This is where I met Ken, who took the time to stop what he was doing to run a quick and thorough inspection for her, and even topped off her car with oil, and brake fluids free of charge. She was on her way. Seeing the great and honest service from Ken, I've decided to stop by with my vehicles when it started showing symptoms more than 2-3 months after meeting him. To my surprise, he remembered my name, lifted my car and diagnosed the area of issue free of charge and was honest about how much I would expect to pay for replacements. After the diagnostics he wouldn't accept my money after over half an hour of diagnostics, so I ended up getting him some chinese food, haha. Came back with a newer car that had stability issues, and Ken found the issue within minutes of lifting it up. The wheel was wobbly, and the part was the lower control arm. He recommended me that I order it online for a better price, and that's what I did. Came in a week later with the piece, he lifted the car up and begun his work. I decided to go to Wendy's for fast food 5 blocks away, came back, and he's already putting the wheel back in! Charged me a good price for labor, and my car felt so much safer! Ken surely knows what he is doing and does a good job at it. Called me few days later to make sure everything was good, and to see if I was still having symptoms. It's a shame that it's so hard to find this business here by searching 'kk auto service' on yelp since it's moved here to Belmont from the city, I hope yelp fixes that bug. Ken sure deserves more customers, he's very honest and really cares about his customers and the cars he works with. His wife Michelle is also a very nice lady so you'd feel at home whenever you're at KK auto service. He was really nice, has reasonable rates, and didnt recommend anything I didn't need (another shop recommended a fuel system flush without either having seen my car before, or me describing any symptoms/circumstances under which this service would make sense). I still bring my vehicles to K&K. I tried local shops, found them to be expensive and not always competent. Ken's priority is to do only what needs to be done, do it right and at a fair price. He's not going to charge you for something you don't need and he's not going to try and sell you something you don't need. He's going to look at you funny if you tell him you want something done that doesn't need to be done. He will perform only necessary services and stand behind his work. Ken has been taking care of my Honda Civic with 150,000 miles on it for almost 3 years. The car runs great with minimal maintenance costs. I am a happy customer and recommend K and K to anyone. Here are a couple of examples of K&K's great service: 1) Had a broken temperature control knob on my dash. New dash from Honda costs $500. Ken could have just sent for the expensive new part and called it a day. But instead of going for the new dash, Ken spent a good part of the day tinkering with mine and taking it apart, and actually fixed it!! 2) Ken would never do a service he doesn't think is needed. I kept asking him about squeaky brakes. But he told me this was normal for brakes that are not Honda brand and said I did not need to replace them. The car still brakes just fine and the squeaking has gone away. I started taking my wife's car to K and K and have been recommending it to all my co-workers since my office is near by. read more

Ken used to be my mechanic when he had a shop out here in S.F. Before Ken I used to go to my Toyota dealer and bounce around from different mechanic shops. Then Ken was referred to me by a coworker. He is the most honest mechanic I have ever known. Does great work and always at a good price. Also gives great advice on how to keep your car running well without spending loads of money. He is one of the few mechanics that understand that if you are honest and do great work then people will continue to use you and refer you to others. Unfortunately for me Ken is no longer in S.F. An honest mechanic is like a rare natural phenomenon. When you find one, at first you can't believe it, then you are mesmerized and can't stop smiling! That is how I felt after speaking with Ken. He is one of those people that understands that some of us folks are under tight budgets and cannot spend hundreds of dollars on unnecessary repairs or mind boggling dealership prices! My experience with Ken and K & K Auto was nothing short of spectacular. He explained in detail what was wrong and what needed to be replaced and even pointed out a couple of things that the dealership had missed (brought in an 09 Honda Accord for rear brake inspection). He showed me all the old parts that was replaced (btw, he uses genuine OEM replacement parts!) and pointed out some important facts about the parts and the car I did not know. Performed all repairs in a timely manner and most importantly at an extremely reasonable price (almost half of what the dealership would've charged). Yay for me... I found the best mechanic in town!! My car was due for 60,000 mile maintenance and I was lucky enough to find Ken on Yelp. Unfortunately, Ken did not have time to work on my car that day but he was kind enough to add oil to my car (free of charge!) to make sure nothing happened to my engine until I was able to take the care back to him few weeks later. I finally took my car in last Saturday and I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service, Ken's professionalism, and honesty. He explained what needed to be done, he advised me on how to keep my car running well, and he even stayed over an hour past closing time to finish the work. All of that for an amazingly reasonable price! Oh did I mention he vacuumed and washed my car without charging extra?? How awesome is that!! Ken's wife, Michelle, is a sweetheart! She was so pleasant and wonderful. We had a great conversation while Ken was working on my car. She was nice enough to offer to drive me home and pick me up if I did not want to wait around at the shop (I chose to stay and chat with her instead...I think I made an excellent choice!) First time I tried to go in I had to call 4 times before he would schedule me. Over charged me for oil change and brakes. I had to haggle him down to a still crappy price. Second time I decided to give him a shot I called and left message with receptionist who after I gave message told me to call tonight or tomorrow cause she would probably forget. I called three days later and he told me he was too busy so come in on Monday @ 9am (day of this review). I work in the city so I said I would have to take the day to do it at that time and he agreed. Well her we are on Monday morning and he "don't have time". I just moved to SF and immediately something went wrong with my car so I had to take it in. I First took it into the dealer and was quoted a ridiculous amount to replace some parts, so I had to find another solution. One of our friends recommended Ken. And guess what? Stopped by for a smog check on my 2005 Camry and it was completed promptly and my car was fully inspected. I know my front brakes were close and they inspected the car. Brought the car back a week later for recommeded service on the brakes and steering cylinder boot and everything was completed and many extra's as well. I've never seen a mechanic care so much, not ask me to have maintenance performed I don't need. In addition he and completed work as advertised and on-time. On two visits, they have built trust that just doesn't exist. I plan to bring our new Lexus here as well. I'm a huge fan and highly recommend this shop!!!! read more

I saw these good reviews from Yelp and decide to go there, and it was a great choice. Ken, the mechanic was at front and he was such a nice guy. I changed oil here and he checked every details of the car. He even recommended to change my tires even thought he doesn't to tires. The price was cheaper then where I used to go. So somehow my gas cap went missing and I had to get a replacement ASAP. I called ken in the morning and he ordered a new one for me (very decently priced at $27).
