I went into this place blind and honestly wish I had checked Yelp or Google beforehand. Usually when I see reviews with absolutely nothing positive to say, I take them with a grain of salt. But after eating here, I kind of get it. The only positive I can really give is that the price is affordable. It was $12 for lunch, $17 with a Sprite. Other than that, pretty much everything I tried had a weird aftertaste or just felt off. The ambiance at the K and K Buffet place is very nice! There is a wooden lacquered carving of the Buddha that melds into the structure of the wooden table and seats at the waiting area. Near the entrance, there is also a 3D model of waterfalls and rocks as a nature scenery with a bridge on the rocks. A pagoda is located on the top of a rock as well as part of the decor. A seemingly run of the mill buffet. There are a lot of options so there's something for everyone but it took me awhile to decide what I wanted. I actually had a different restaurant in mind but there was no seating available in the spot I wanted to go to so I randomly came here as a detour. The food, while it may look a bit on the basic side (it is a Chinese based buffet) it is fresh and pretty good. I wish the plates could be a bit bigger. For almost $16 (including drink) the plate sizes could be more than 7 inches in diameter and there was a good number of stuff I wanted to try out so I just had to put in a small amount of almost everything. The service was OK, nothing to write home about but also nothing to report either. I did like my stay here. Food was spot on but I've been to better spots so this isn't a place I'd go out of my way to visit again but whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I might swing by. read more

This experience was terrible. When I got there everything was going good btw I'm African American and I was with 3 other african Americans and my baby sister who just turned 1 so it was her first time they gave me a high chair that was broken the buckles wasn't working and it was old and scratched up the food wasn't the best but wasn't bad. We already paid before we sat down while eating my first plate they were trying to force us to pay again for dinner mind you it was early in the morning and dinner time was no where near . We asked if seafood was available they said yea but when we declined to pay extra for dinner they added huge signs that said dinner only then proceeded to follow us everywhere every time I turned around they were following us I also seen a dropped fish on the counter and watched a staff member pick it up with one of the tools and put it back and where the ice cream scoopers were the water was like a dirty gray color and the spoons used for the ice cream was disgusting . Growing up Asian means we grew up in buffets and casinos. I've been wanting to check this place out ever since I first moved to Ridgewood five years ago, but there were moments when K&K was closed. I was super juiced when the hubby decided he wanted to take me this past weekend. He doesn't get as excited over buffets as I do. He didn't grow up with buffeting being a day-long sport. Shame. As far as buffets go in NYC, I think this place is priced on the low end. It was only $16 for a Saturday evening and they do not charge auto gratuity. A bargain, but you get what you pay for. It looked promising walking in, but in making the rounds, you can tell before even taking a bite that the food was not up to par. Items were either overcooked, dry as hell, or left out so long that the texture was destroyed. Wish i could rate no stars . Absolutely terrible dining experience. We arrived 30 minutes before closing and were not informed that closing time was imminent. I regret even stepping inside. The buffet was nearly barren, a clear indication of the poor quality within. Upon closer inspection, the food was alarming. The ham my cousin was eating had visible green spots, the salad was littered with brown, wilted pieces, and the wontons were dry and discolored. The sushi was a sad, single piece of imitation crab on rice. When we brought these issues to the manager's attention, her initial response was a mere 15% discount. When we then showed her the food that was on our table, she and other staff began to argue with us. I refused to pay for food that was inedible. We ended up paying $8 solely for the sodas. Why am I a fan of K&K Super Buffet? Well, let me tell ya. First of all, it's not about food. Trust me. I grew up in the SF Bay Area and have experience a wide variety of Asian food, so I can tell the good from the "you got to be kidding me." I also frequent Vegas enough to tell you what constitutes a good buffet relative to the quality of the dishes and the price they're charging. So, again, it's not about the food. But I have family who adore this place and insist on taking me here every time I visit. They like it, and I don't want to seem ungrateful (although my stomach will be very angry with me soon thereafter), so I've grown accustomed to it. We came here at 6 pm on a thursday, and the trays were sparse and picked over. Most of the food was cold or overcooked, or both. The Waiters and Waitresses are quite nice. Cheap lunch buffet on Mon-Fri 11:00 am-3:30 pm at $7.30. We both got lemonade drinks, and i liked the drink. They have fried stuffs, salads, all kind of seafood, rice, veggies, soups, and desserts. Mostly have Chinese food, but they do have other international food too. Four stars is for the quality of this Chinese buffet in comparison to the food I've seen and/or eaten at other Chinese buffets. I have a sort of bias against Chinese food after a bad experience so I was really reluctant to eat here but my boyfriend wanted to so...yeah. Anyway the food was really good and surprisingly fresh the first time I went. It was a Sunday afternoon I believe. I went again midday on a Thursday and it was blaaaaah. I learned never to go to a Chinese buffet when they aren't busy; it makes sense that when they are busy they are cooking more and changing the trays more often as opposed to them sitting for long periods of time when it's slow. Buffets, in my eyes (or stomach, I should say), are the waterparks of the food world. They are often overrun by people half your size, have practices that make you question their safety and cleanliness and serve alcohol, which you wouldn't expect? However, Rus & I just had to visit this buffet in our 'hood...because it's a buffet in our hood! They have about 4 tables of food set up: cold salads, American + fried foods (french fries, pizza), standard "Chinese" food (the dumplings were the only thing that I thought were decent, everything else was lukewarm and kind of gross). The pineapple shrimp was straight nasty (extremely mushy). They have clams on the half shell, which kind of freaked me out (who knows how long they were sitting out?), crab and all that other stuff. They serve beer. If you enjoy quantity over quality, this place is definitely for you. If you think about what you're putting into your mouth for longer than the 30 seconds that it takes for you to put it on your plate, this place is not for you. p.s. my friend says that this place also hosts raves? that sounds way more interesting than the buffet. also, they do have a really cool fountain in the front of the place (when you first walk in), but it doesn't seem like it's maintained. read more

So we tried to eat the mess that was on the buffet bar. The food was cold. Beside my self throwing up, 3 of my boys throwed up the food . O yeah we barely at any of the food. It was not fresh. Came here for dinner buffet with a large group of family the place has a private dinner area that they use for large groups like ours the hostess was nice when we were taken into the room at first glance it's seems nice until you sat down the tables had a sticky type feeling to them at first we thought it was the material but when we grabbed a napkin and started wiping at it a black greasy flick started coming off not what you wanna see before you eat. They had 3 buffet tables with food unfortunately most of the food looked dry and old like the roast beef and ham they had. Yes this Chinese buffet had plenty of non Asian foods like stuffed shells Italian chicken and more. Their fried rice was very salty everyone that got it complained about the amount of salt it had as for the rest of the food I was disappointed they didn't have any pork fired rice or even plain fried rice the ribs and chicken and broccoli where also dry I did seem them coming around and changing food containers on the Buffet line but it was only for the same things like dumplings and stuff while other food items continued to dry off since no one was eating it but instead of switching it out for fresh or even replacing the item it was just left there. I live in the neighborhood and my boyfriend likes the food here. The food is alright don't really care for it, nothing amusing about it. It's more like the service there. They love slamming your drinks on the table and walking away. We've never been rushed out of here, but I guess it's because we're a young couple they think we don't tip, so they don't pay mind to us. I've worked in restaurants, trust me, no matter how bad the service is, we tip. Not to mention the silverware looks filthy I always grab water and clean them myself. Felt basically invisible trying to get refills.The worse incident was when my daughter finished her fruit punch, she asked for a ginger ale, it was brought back in THE SAME DAMN CUP!! And then asked twice did she want a clean one, after she pointed out that the ginger ale appeared to have a red tint to it. On top of that they have the nerve try to rush us out.
