I have never had a bad meal from K-Blocks. They literally have the best brisket in the Metro area. Today I tried their special which was a brisket cheesesteak and got the fried okra. The bun was toasted, the brisket was amazing, grilled peppers and onions, and their queso! You guys can add this to the menu any time!! The other picture is of the Double Trouble platter with their brisket, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes. (We added the third side) also got the lemon blueberry cheesecake that was the perfect balance of sweet and tart and delicious!! We have completely stopped going to the other BBQ place in town for numerous reasons and will only eat here for BBQ!! I also apprecIate that the staff is friendly and attentive. I haven't been b

Our group of four guys made the trip up M-53 to try K-blocks barbecue for the first time. Ambience is OK it's at the end of an old strip mall. Rustic interior gives a fun vibe with some background music at the bar. Eventually, a girl started strumming and singing which definitely added to the air. Service was pretty good. Our server was the owner's mom who did her best to keep everything correct and our orders came out in a reasonable time. But once the food showed up to our table, the table was silent, except for the sound of everybody going "Umm, ahh, umm" We could've stopped at SB or MB or BB or even BI. Those are all fine places to eat. All four of us agreed this was hands-down, the best barbecue in the area and that will we would be bringing our families back for more.

Had no idea this place existed in Washington! We were in the area and I popped on yelp to see what was good and this place popped up so we figured we'd give it a try. I got the brisket Reuben with a side of okra fried and it was so good. My husband got the French dip and that was really good as well. He got a side of the beans and those were awesome and the potato salad too. The house made chips are super and I love the sauces. My favorite was a tie between the Apple one and I can't remember the other one, but it wasn't the Memphis one. We will definitely be back

We were in the mood for a new BBQ place and found K-Blocks in Washington Twp. From the moment we walked in we knew it was going to be great, and it was! She had the pork quesadilla dinner and the brisket Rueben for me; both were superb and our server Heather was attentive and personable. We met one of the owners and heard all about the origins of the name and the struggle of opening a restaurant at the start of the pandemic...but they made it and are thriving. We'll be back! PS: live music on Saturdays, too! A big plus to us!

Very cool bbq spot. I like that they have live music sometimes . The interior is very cool and really feels like bbq. The food is very good and I like how they offer different types of specials . You come for the food but hang out because it's just cool. The service is very good. What I really like is seeing the owners. Too me it shows they care they are really trying to make the experience and food great.

My friend and I decided to go on a Friday afternoon, April 12th actually. It was empty in there except one other table of people with kids playing keno lol. We decided to order the platter that feeds two. We started by sharing a simple tossed salad with ranch (and she suggested the flavored ranch) so we used both mixed. Satisfying enough. Then came our platter.... The brisket, unfortunately, was dry. The sausage was dry to a point that the skin was very crisp, but the flavor was decent inside if only not done so well. The pulled pork was delicious that had to of been freshly smoked. I really didn't care for any of their bbq sauces sorry I mixed a couple Next for our chosen sides were the macaroni n cheese and the potato salad. I'm a huge Mac n cheese fan and did not like the odd flavor in theirs. The potato salad was decent enough. The cornbread piece was ok as well. All in all, I might go back again and check out their live band night with music and get a pulled pork and she did give us a coupon for a free appetizer on our next visit which was very nice on the way out. The service was very friendly for sure

We had a great experience! We went during Happy Hour so the draft beer was $3 a pint. The peanut butter stout was pretty tasty and my wife enjoyed her dirty blonde ale. We started with the candied bacon and it was delicious. We decided to split the Pit Platter and it was amazing. We had a rib each, some pulled pork, brisket, and the jalapeno sausage. Our sides were mac-n-cheese and the street corn. Everything we had was scrumptious including the raspberry swirl cheese cake. The service was exceptional and we enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely go back.

K-Blocks has some of the best BBQ I've had in the Metro Detroit area. Ever since I went to Franklin Barbecue in Austin, Texas, I've been searching for a local BBQ restaurant that can compare. So far, K-Blocks and Bad Brad's are my local favorites. The burnt ends here are easily the best I've ever had. The brisket, pulled pork, and sausage were all delicious. The brisket and pulled pork were both flavorful and not dry. I thoroughly enjoyed the ribs, which is typically my least favorite meat on a BBQ platter. K-Blocks also offers options for people that may not like the typical BBQ menu items. This is a must try for BBQ lovers and also food lovers, in general, as well.

Just have found this hidden gem and I had been recommended to come and try it, I must say the vibes inside are sweet from the bar to the artwork on the wall just had that bbq feel to it. The staff was very nice and had maybe recommendations. The food was terrific I had the double trouble it was great, the pork with the Romeo apple bbq was prefect 5/5. Heard they did live music on the weekend I'll be back for sure.

I'd say this place is ok. Definitely worth stopping if you're in the area and feel like BBQ but not a destination. Ordered carry out tonight and got the following. Pulled pork- it had nice bark but was a little dry, need a lot of sauce Brisket- this was a miss...very dry and even crispy in spots Gumbo- had nice flavor but very brothy, almost like they don't use a roux Pit beans- probably the best item, nice flavor and big chunks of meat Hush puppies- these were really good Apple sauce- this was pretty good too Corn bread- kinda bland I'll agree with other reviewers and strongly suggest checking your carry out before you pull away. Mine was missing several items (sides, corn bread and dipping sauce for hush puppies). That said the kid working the counter was great and included some extras to make up for the inconvenience. His service was 5 stars! As I waited for my food I did get a nice feel for the vibe of the place and it seemed cool. Great local decor and a live music that was really good. Maybe dine in is more K Blocs jam.

All the good stuff from K-blocks was at the back of the table.

We had my son's wedding about a month ago and came in for a tasting. He and his fiance - at the time - LOVED everything. They ended up going with K-Blocks for their wedding meal and it was outstanding. Kendra and Brian made sure everything was perfect. Each tray was labeled so that we knew exactly what was inside and where to place it on the table. Not one issue. Everything was hot, well seasoned, PERFECT. Before picking up my order I made sure everything we ordered was received - not wanting to wait until we got to the venue to realize something might not have been correct or missing. As expected it was exactly as we had ordered. Would highly recommend K-Blocks for any catering or party needs.

So K-Blocks was highly recommended to me by a friend as a fantastic spot for BBQ. While I enjoy good BBQ as much as anyone else, my son is the true fanatic here. Even at the tender age of 15 he can break down the positives and negatives of brisket, mac n cheese, ribs, pulled pork or chicken in great detail and even greater enthusiasm. To say he was more than disappointed in this experience would be selling the situation way short. We ordered the Pit Platter with an extra 1/2 slab of St. Louis style ribs. The platter was supposed to come with the following with the grades in parens: Brisket [C] - very dry and firm. Like it was cooked too long. Pulled Pork [C] - same, it was also very dry and needed a lot of sauce. Ribs [A] - Came out great. Fall off the bones and great rub. Jalapeno cheddar sausage [A] - Also spectacular. Just enough spice for a kick but not overwhelming. cornbread - never received Two sides: never recieved either side Driving from my house to Romeo to pick up this food is no short trip, and to get home and fine out that both sides and the cornbread was missing was extra frustrating. Yes, I know I should have double checked everything before leaving, and at the end of the day it's my fault, but sheesh, to miss that many items and the items we did were not worth the trip for me. I can't ever imagine going back, but maybe if i'm in the area I will again. We are blessed to have several great BBQ joints in this area and I don't feel the need to make this trek again.

Food: The food here is so good. I love the "pick two"…read morebecause it lets me live my best life without committing to just one thing. I always go chicken sandwich + Cajun pasta or gumbo. The salads are huge, but they are very onion forward, so just a heads up if onions aren't your thing. Shrimp comes piled on top of some dishes and you can add or remove it. Also worth noting, nothing is overly spicy, just solid flavor that doesn't knock you out. Service: The staff is genuinely kind and super accommodating. You can tell it's family owned. Everyone seems to care and wants you to enjoy your meal. Ambiance: The space is cute and Creole themed. It's cozy, casual. Easy 5 stars for me, this place is a gem and I'll keep coming back for sure.

The…read moreinterior has been remodeled and looks great, love the dark layout and the huge dining room, however the food remains touch and go. Certain dishes are great, others not. Got a huge bread basket that looked empty, when peering in, two small pieces of stale french bread smothered in Saran wrap were visible. Shame all that wasted space. C'mon Gumbo. Don't skimp on the bread. Serve it fresh too! During past dining experiences, the fried shrimp and hushpuppies were much larger. During this visit they were midget sized, like they were "cooking to a price point". That said, Gumbo's always excelled at frying and they tasted great. The fried catfish was dredged in cornmeal and flour. It tasted as good as catfish can taste, considering slimy-stank taste is natural to a bottom feeder and next to impossible to cook out. If you like catfish, gather up a chair, you're in the right place. The gumbo was watery with small dices of sausage and more midget shrimp. The broth had little taste. Mediocre gumbo is a misdemeanor violation. I wrote Gumbo's a ticket on that one. The cajun pasta was very good. In the old days they used bowtie pasta in a thick creamy sauce smacked with Cajun decadence and big ole' shrimps. Today they used penne (not a big deal, but it cheapens the dish) in a disappointly watery sauce with a few midget shrimp. It still tasted good but it quite clear at this point Gumbo's was cooking to a price point. The STAR OF THE SHOW was the shrimp crawfish etouffee. Wow! Thick, creamy, rich gravy with a heavenly base of toasted roux having notes of roasted peanut. They got that one right, midget shrimps and all. I want another bowl NOW! DIATRIBE ALERT: Service wasn't terrible but far from exceptional. The new generation of wait staff expects big tips for mediocre service, like we should should be honored by their presence. I always tip large despite my general grumpiness. Problem is, tipping culture has gotten out of hand. It's become a bottomless pit of greed. Front and back staff with their hands out perpetually. Cash registers programmed to induce tip guilt. Dirty looks for not tipping a carry-out order. CARRY-OUT RULES: If I don't sit down to eat, I ain't tipping your ass. Go back to Nursing School or something like that. Why should the customer pick up the slack for an industry refusing to pay employees a decent wage? SUMMARY: Love the vibe. Like the food. Gumbo's was clearly cooking to a price point. Midget shrimp? Sacriledge. New Orleans ain't like that.

This is a super late review that has been sitting in my drafts for some unknown reason…read more.. But my girlfriend (who is from Louisiana) stopped in to eat here a couple months back. They had vinyl jazz playing, which i noticed but was second nature to her... We were greeted, told to order from the table, and he would bring it out. We got a whole bunch of stuff to try out... She got catfish and curly fries, which she loved. I got a larger sea food boil with every seasoning, it was great -- a bit small for what i thought the price was but for the taste i'm not complaining. We ordered hush puppies as an appetizer, and i had to hear from her that they were "good" but it's not how she would make them, blah blah blah.... Southern people and their soul food, everyone has a hot take. With that said, she ate most of them. We also had a fried basket appetizer which was catfish nuggets, shrimp, and clams i think -- also very good. Lastly, no picture on this one, but we got a blackened alfredo to go --- and it was also very tasty. We have been back twice since our initial visit. Amazing food, and come to find out the employee that was helping us, was the only one who works there... it was overall impressive, tasty, and we'll be back more.
