I found this place through yelp and have been wanting to try it for a while. Now that it's spring and the weather's getting better, I felt comfortable driving out here on a Sunday afternoon to see what this place is all about. K-blocks BBQ is tucked away in a cute little strip mall and well decorated but dark when you walk in. They have bar and dining room seating, and since it wasn't busy, I chose to dine in the dining room. The menus fabulous, and portions seem really on point. I chose to get the brisket sandwich and it came with a side of chips. if I wanted an additional side, it would've been $4, but I wasn't feeling it so I stuck with the house made chips, which were actually quite good. The brisket sandwich was absolutely delicious. Totally on point and really hit the spot. Not to much food, but definitely not skimpy either. It came on marble rye bread and I ate the whole thing! Heard great things about their food and and was in the area and finally decided to give it a try. I wanted to love the place but didn't even get a chance to try the food. I stood at the front counter for nearly 15 minutes waiting for someone to come to the front to seat me and was ignored. It wasn't super busy, so there was no extenuating circumstance like that. Our group of four guys made the trip up M-53 to try K-blocks barbecue for the first time. Ambience is OK it's at the end of an old strip mall. Rustic interior gives a fun vibe with some background music at the bar. Eventually, a girl started strumming and singing which definitely added to the air. Service was pretty good. Our server was the owner's mom who did her best to keep everything correct and our orders came out in a reasonable time. But once the food showed up to our table, the table was silent, except for the sound of everybody going "Umm, ahh, umm" We could've stopped at SB or MB or BB or even BI. She had the pork quesadilla dinner and the brisket Rueben for me; both were superb and our server Heather was attentive and personable. I had a wonderful experience at K-Blocks BBQ. I ordered the Double Trouble dinner - 2 meats and two sides. I went with the pulled pork and the brisket. They were delicious and not dry AND you get a quarter pound of each meat. Along with that comes your choice of two sides. I had the pit beans and the Mac n cheese. My friend and I decided to go on a Friday afternoon, April 12th actually. It was empty in there except one other table of people with kids playing keno lol. We decided to order the platter that feeds two. We started by sharing a simple tossed salad with ranch (and she suggested the flavored ranch) so we used both mixed. Satisfying enough. Then came our platter.... The brisket, unfortunately, was dry. The sausage was dry to a point that the skin was very crisp, but the flavor was decent inside if only not done so well. The pulled pork was delicious that had to of been freshly smoked. I really didn't care for any of their bbq sauces sorry I mixed a couple Next for our chosen sides were the macaroni n cheese and the potato salad. I'm a huge Mac n cheese fan and did not like the odd flavor in theirs. The potato salad was decent enough. The cornbread piece was ok as well. We had a great experience! We went during Happy Hour so the draft beer was $3 a pint. The peanut butter stout was pretty tasty and my wife enjoyed her dirty blonde ale. We had my son's wedding about a month ago and came in for a tasting. He and his fiance - at the time - LOVED everything. They ended up going with K-Blocks for their wedding meal and it was outstanding. Kendra and Brian made sure everything was perfect. The platter was supposed to come with the following with the grades in parens: Brisket [C] - very dry and firm. Like it was cooked too long. Pulled Pork [C] - same, it was also very dry and needed a lot of sauce. Ribs [A] - Came out great. Fall off the bones and great rub. Jalapeno cheddar sausage [A] - Also spectacular. Having read all the positive reviews, I was disappointed for a secod time. I had been here for lunch a while ago and it was nothing to brag about but I thought I'd give it another chance. I had the pulled chicken which is 1/2 pound of meat but nothing comes with it so I ordered mac & cheese which was a small portion and lacking flavor. The chicken was dry and hard in some places so I added a lot of BBQ sauce. They do have nice variety of sauces. My husband had the brisket which was flavorful but had quite a bit of fat. I have to update this review because our experience was so different this time! We were heading to Romeo and we passed k block and I thought we should give it another try. Our original experience was not bad by any means but they had just been featured on the news and were swamped with carry out orders. They were out of a lot of stuff and the service could not keep up with demand. So I figured today may be different. And it was! We got here on the earlier side. We were fortunate to get the last two seats at the bar. The bar area was very busy but the other side of the restaurant wasn't. We sat down and we were greeted by Collette, our amazing Bartender! I hope management knows what a gem this one is! She knew every single person's name at the bar! She was chipper and sarcastic and funny! By the time we left I knew about her husband, her dogs, her favorite beer, and that her name might have been Star (which would have meant she had to become an erotic dancer) or Jennifer (which would have made her a kindergarten teacher). She was efficient too. She was training someone and still kept up with the busy demands. They didn't have a huge assortment of beer on tap but they had a good variety. Now for the food. Collette recommended getting the tray and splitting it. You get to try all of the meats that way. We both decided on the double trouble. I got pulled pork and brisket. He got pulled pork and ribs. They were out of ribs last time we were here so we had not had them. The brisket was very fatty last time too. This time the ribs were delicious and meaty. The pork was so good that I ate it naked. The brisket was incredible. His was a bit fatty but mine was perfect. I chose to smashed potatoes and coleslaw as my sides. He got the baked beans and potato salad. The baked beans had a sweet flavor to them. The coleslaw was unique. It was most definitely homemade. And the potatoes were delicious, smooth, and creamy.
