There are large power line towers throughout the courts. They have birds all over them which is a little noisy. Never like being by these towers. They have some nice seating by the courts which is a really nice touch for us spectators. Our club dont have chairs. :(. A nice place to have a tennis match at.

I love this club. All the staff is so nice, including the membership coordinators, the front desk check-in staff, the instructors (even those you haven't even taken a class from), the café staff, and even the cleaning ladies. I've had long conversations with the front desk, café, and janitorial staff. One Zumba instructor I play pickleball with sometimes! My primary activity is pickleball, of course! This is the premier place to play pickleball in the greater Sacramento area. Sure, you can struggle to play on a public court or join other sports clubs with pickleball, but where do all the pros eventually gather, and where are the most local tournaments held? It's here at the Johnson Ranch Pickleball Complex (South facility) with its 24 beautiful and maintained courts. The beauty of Johnson Ranch's pickleball is that it's not hard to find open play. It's also organized by skill level, unlike the public courts. We have a pickleball director, multiple pro instructors, and 3 pickleball event organizers putting together fun events for us: the popular Kings/Queens of the Court, women's/men's/mixed doubles events, ladders, MLP teams (I can't wait!), beginner Pickleball 101 classes free to the public, Challenge the Pros game, prize challenges, Live Ball and other drill classes, and pickleball classes and camps. You can also reserve a court (pickleball, tennis, racquetball, or squash) or a swim lane for free with your membership. The North facility has 25 tennis courts. All our tennis and pickleball courts are lighted until 10 pm! Gym equipment, swimming pools, hot tubs, and children's wading pools can be found at both North and South facilities. The North facility has a sauna and steam room. The group exercise studio and cycling studio are in the South facility. Other than pickleball, these are my favorite classes: 10 AM Aqua Fit Class (M W F Sat Sun) Dance Fusion Class (Thu 2x, Sat with instructors Lori N or Ali B) Sometimes, I will go to Julia's 4:30 Warrior Flow Yoga class on Thursday before Dance Fusion class. I should try more classes, but they all conflict or compete against pickleball or aqua fit class. The Aqua Fit ladies like to chit chat and celebrate birthdays monthly with a potluck after class. To celebrate, one woman sometimes brings her homing pigeons to release, and they fly home...so cool! Kathee on Mondays and Wednesdays is the instructor I interact with most. Kelly on Fridays seems to be the most popular with her water aerobics class. The Dance Fusion instructors Lori and Ali have years of dance training in different types of dance. The rest of us in class are just trying to keep up and wishing to look as hip, coordinated, and graceful as them. We're working on the Beyonce Texas Hold Em TikTok Dance currently! We've done the Shivers line dance and Michael Jackson's Thriller dance before. There are group classes in yoga, cardio, strength training, cycling, pilates, barre, and more. The morning group exercise devotees will often attend three classes in a row! The food and drink menus at both the North and South cafes are extensive. I like the Chicken Caesar Salad for around $8 and love the $1 slushies! I need to try one of the homemade cookies someday. There's also homemade banana bread. I heard the smoothies were good from a personal trainer. You can hire a personal trainer or get private instruction in your sport of choice. Johnson Ranch offers after school programs and summer programs for kids (i.e., swimming, pickleball camps), as well as child care. You can contact a membership coordinator or sign up online for a free one week trial: https://www.sparetimesportsclubs.com/free-one-week-membership/ During the summer, there is sometimes a free two week trial if you contact AmyH@sparetimesportsclubs.com Last year, I won a free two week membership from spinning the prize wheel during a Friday Night Lights pickleball party. To cancel a month-to-month membership, you just need to give notice before the 15th of the previous month. You can also put your membership on vacation hold ($15 per month?) or medical hold ($5 per month, prorated when you start back up and the $5 that month is credited, hold for an initial 3 months and extend as needed). On the last Friday of the month, you can bring in 4 free guests. To look for pickleball events at Johnson Ranch, sign up for a free account on the Playtimescheduler.com website. Free 5 PM beginner Pickleball 101 lessons are usually in a brown circle on the 1st and 3rd Fridays every month. The free 6-9 PM Friday Night Lights party open to the public is usually in a brown circle on the 3rd Friday. Time is precious. If you want to play and improve at pickleball quickly, this is the place to be.

It's a nice facility if you don't want to utilize the almost non existent free weight area. There were 2 flat benches, 3 inclines (one of which could not be adjusted due to missing knob) and one seated bench which was missing the seat. I waited 25 minutes for a bench and never did get one. There was almost 2 rows of missing weights 20-35 lbs I believe and as there were only 4 people using the weights, not sure what to think. For $40 (my fully equipped club charges $25 day pass as does the fully equipped 24 hr fitness nearby I expected a more fully equipped gym. There were a lot of cardio and fitness machines if that's what you are looking for but if you are looking for a free weight fitness program, I highly recommend looking elsewhere. I mentioned the broken benches and missing weights to the front desk and he is "going to let the fitness director know" - shouldn't they already know? Anyway spent too much money and didn't really get a decent workout. Just spoke with club ambassador Rocco - he reached out regarding my experience. He explained that I was there during their busy time and they are repairing the benches and will be expanding their free weights areas in the near future. Felt better that I was heard and the club was already working on a solution.

The gym isn't overly busy at that hour, which makes it easy to access equipment and move through your routine without waiting around. If you are considering signing your child up for their soccer academy, be extremely careful. My daughter did a free trial for the soccer academy. We decided not to join the program, and I immediately called to ensure everything was clear. The staff member I spoke with explicitly assured me that the trial was canceled and that we would not be charged. Trusting their word was a huge mistake. It turns out they signed me up for a full gym membership anyway. For the last six months, they have been secretly charging my account. When I discovered the charges and called to resolve it, the nightmare only got worse: "Not our problem" attitude: They refused to refund the six months of fraudulent charges because the employee who told me it was canceled has since been fired. Blaming the customer: The manager, Scott, told me he would look at camera footage to verify what happened. When he called back, he claimed there was "no record of anything" and essentially shifted the blame onto me for their former employee's fraudulent actions. It is completely unacceptable for a business to pocket hundreds of dollars from a family due to their own employee's fraud/mistake and then use "that person doesn't work here anymore" as an excuse to deny a refund. Scott and the upper management refuse to take accountability for their staff. Check your statements closely if you step foot in this place. They will happily take your money, lie about cancellations, and blame you for it later. Avoid this place and their academy at all costs.

I've been a member of In-Shape Fitness for some time, but my recent experience has left me…read moreseriously reconsidering my membership. While the gym itself has a decent setup and the equipment is adequate, the management and childcare experience were extremely disappointing. During a visit to the gym, my child was placed in the kids' care area, and when I came to pick them up, they were crying and had visible red marks on their forearm and stomach. Initially, staff (Nimsy) did not disclose what happened, and after I asked, I was told that another child had pushed my kid down--twice--and even sat on them. This happened on a soft play toy, roughly two feet high. I understand accidents can happen with kids, but what I cannot understand is the lack of transparency and communication. The staff withheld critical information about the incident, leaving me in shock and deeply concerned for my child's safety. Asking to see security footage was met with the response that I would need a police report first, which felt like an unnecessary barrier and added to the frustration. The lack of accountability and clear protocol for handling these situations is alarming. While the gym is clean and has a variety of equipment, I cannot feel comfortable bringing my child back under these circumstances. Parents entrust facilities like this with their children, and the way this incident was handled seriously undermines that trust. I hope management takes serious steps to improve childcare safety, communication, and transparency. Until then, I cannot recommend In-Shape Fitness for families with young children. Currently here now filing a police report and seeking the truth.
