Every Tuesday, like clockwork, I roll into K C's Bagel Express to grab a couple dozen bagels for work. At this point, I'm not a customer, I'm a weekly recurring invoice. The bagels are good. Doughy. Soft. Reliable. These little guys get absolutely demolished by my coworkers every single time, which tells you everything you need to know. No leftovers = success. This place is aggressively basic and I mean that as a compliment. No wild cream cheese flavors, no bagel flavors you need explained to you, no coffee that requires a TED Talk. They've got hot coffee, iced coffee, and both do exactly what they're supposed to do: keep you functioning. If I'm craving crispy bagels? I know where to go. If I want 47 flavors of cream cheese including birthday cake and Buffalo chicken? I know where to go. But if I want a good, doughy bagel that does its job and doesn't overcomplicate my morning, this is it. The two employees I see every Tuesday are amazing. Friendly, fast, and way too pleasant for the hour and the amount of bagels I order. Never an attitude, never rushing me, just good old-fashioned customer service like it's 1998. Speaking of 1998... the inside hasn't changed since then. It's frozen in time. But weirdly, that's comforting. Clean place. Renovate it and suddenly the bagels might start acting different. Don't touch it. Bottom line: K C's isn't trying to be trendy. It's just trying to feed you and it succeeds. read more

I no longer live on the East coast but sure do miss them bagels. Grabbed a TGTG bag here during a recent trip and the bag was packed with more than enough to satisfy my cravings plus more for the whole family! read more

I was visiting my mom from CT and stopped in here for a quick bagel and coffee. I was pressed for time (but starving!) abd grateful that I was in and out in 5 minutes or less! The women behind the counter was friendly and super quick. I just got a plain bagel with veggie cream cheese and regular coffee. The coffee was good - she made it a tad too light and the brew could be stronger with more flavor but it worked. The bagel was a good size, light & fluffy. Jersey bagels are bigger than what we get in CT abd these were no different although not the biggest I've seen around. The cream cheese seemed made fresh and was on the plain side could use more veggies. Overall the bagel was fresh and filling and hot the spot! I should have ordered an everything bagel or something mine was boring, but I enjoyed it. read more

The bagels were undercooked. The place was dirty. Spreads in the refrigerator appeared stale, Coffee was watery. Bagels are great - always have been - however, you should have an expert audit your bagel recipes. They've been starting to get really dense and heavy. Something is wrong with the mix/ratio. All the bagels taste and have the consistency of heavy bread, not bagels. Please address this before it affects business. read more

Amazing French toast bagels! I get an Egg and Taylor ham on a French toast bagel and it's delicious, highly recommend!

Ordered for the first time. Two bagels with cream cheese and lox. Taste-wise it's good but the bagel wasn't all that fresh and I paid extra for onions only to get one tiny ring the size of a quarter. I took a picture. I'd try it again, but I'd either call or notate I'd like a fresh bagel and if you're going to charge extra for onions when most places have them as part of the sandwich, add a few pieces of onions! read more

What happened to KCs? New owner? Always was a go to bagel place and usually packed on weekends. My first clue things were different shouldve been it was fairly empty. Prices went up (but that's not unexpected these days). Ordered and immediately was demanded to be rung up (by a woman who did not take my order). Felt very rushed and chaotic. Lots of changes inside including adding a table? Counter was cluttered with hot serving trays holding soups, hot food and empanadas. Tacky hand written signs all over advertising new items (not bagel or deli items). Very confusing. Despite the rush to get me paid and kow customer count it still took over 15 minutes to get two breakfast sandwiches (which were not the quality of what we are used to getting from here). I had a breakfast bagel here (Taylor ham, eggs, cheese) on a garlic bagel. I think I can say with a clear conscience that it was the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. In fact, I am glad it's multiple states away or I'd spend my paycheck there eating every morning. Don't go trotting in thinking you're going to get a seat at a table. There are no seats. It's an order-up and take it to go place. I really wish I lived closer because I'd be here every morning. The only downside right off the bat is that it's cash only. Now aside from paying a small atm fee if your outta cash, this place is awesome! I'm a huge fan of big fluffy doughy soft bagels which this place has. Also wheat everything is a big plus. They honor my annoying request of a three egg breakfast sandwich and the eggs they make for the sandwiches are delicious. When I say that I mean they aren't overly fried, overly saturated in grease and burnt on the ends like a majority of bagels places. The taylor ham portion is solid and the ingredients just taste overall superior to most bagel places around. I love my breakfast sandwiches and this place has got it, great fresh delicious bagels. I had a flat tire at around 4:45 am and was parked in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo bank, 2 parking lots away. I had been waiting for 2 hours and needed to the restroom badly. The safest and closest and only open business this bagel shop. I walked in and explained my situation. The woman I was speaking with asked the other woman who said, without even looking at me, I can't do it. The first woman suggested I go to the diner (which was closed)further down the road. This place used to be the best! I would ship bagels overnight to relatives in Florida, they were so good. When we moved to Florida, KC's was the first stop on a trip back. Just went this week and the bagels were dry and tasteless and the whole place smelled of burnt fried chicken oil. Our clothes stunk for hours afterwards. Why do you need to make fried chicken when there is a Popeyes across the street??? But burnt fried chicken might be better than the bagels. And it was super shabby looking inside too. I called today ( Sunday at 2:45) and a man answered and said they were closed. I said oh ok, probably sounded defeated, and he said what do you need. I only needed a bagel for my daughter (who helped me all day w her grandmother, and all she wanted was a bagel). He said ok come and get it. I got there and offered to pay more since he stayed open, he would not take it just said come back again. It's not the closest bagel shop for me but now I will make it our favorite!!!! This place has been churning out the best bagels in NJ for decades. I worked here in HS, moved away for a bit, tried other places - but ultimately nothing even compares. When I visit friends living out of state, they request that I bring an extra suitcase just for these bagels. That's a pretty high compliment for any food. read more

I've been coming here most of my life, but I will say the quality and service has come down over the year. I've been by several times this summer and the young, presumably college employees chit chat behind the counter and move slow as molasses. The employees take one sandwich order at a time instead of the entire order (more than 1 person) so then you wait for them to make one thing and come back. Recent orders included bagels with flavored cream cheese, which upon receipt barely had any shmear on them, but the employees consistently manage to get cream cheese all over the wax bag. We also ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches another time and although it was empty we were waiting for almost 10 minutes. I was pleased to see the eggs weren't destroyed, but seemingly confused as to what took so long. Lastly, never order a iced coffee there unless you prefer milk with a splash of coffee. We thought it was an isolated incident, but went back again and saw someone walking out with a similarly milk-diluted iced coffee. Will likely only get bagels to go here going forward. read more

This used to be my favorite bagel place. I have to find a new one at this point. I have gone the past few times and asked for a bagel with extra cream cheese (because it's never enough here) and I get hardly any. When I ask the staff, I get an attitude, which makes me more frustrated. Also- I try to call ahead in the mornings and the phone is never answered. I gave them one last shot today. Let me start out by saying that I used to LOVE this place. I've gone several times in the last few months and things have gone down hill. I never seem to get what I order. I could understand if they were short staffed or if there was a long crazy line, today there was neither of those. Very disappointing to pay $4 for a bagel only to find out it wasn't what you ordered and it ended up in the garbage. I think I'll stick to Goldbergs from now on.
