Overall, this was a pleasant experience. I got shellac manicure and it was 27$. The website was not good at all but the prices are listed above the checkout counter in the shop. I did call and make an appointment but still had to wait around 10 minutes after arriving since they were busy (went mid day on a Wednesday during summer). I saw many comment on the limited color selection so I took a pic of the bin. I was able to get a color I really liked. The staff was friendly and did not talk much, so I was able to just "zone out" and enjoy it. They were quite fast and did a good job overall. I feel like I've gotten shellac for less than 27$ (pre tip) before so I'm not sure if I'd go back again... it was fine and convenient for me that day. Worth a try if you are interested. read more

I ran in at 6:15 for a quick manicure and they close at 7:00. They hardly spoke to me but confirmed in a strange way I could stay for a manicure. They weren't busy. I was rushed through, with my hands soaking for 2 minutes in minimal, cold water. Instead of getting my cuticles soft and pushing back the tech used the dremel tool as though I was getting acrylic nails. I'm sure due to time. Then another technician hit me in the shoes twice trying to hurry and clean so they could walk out at 7:00. If you close at 7:00, close at 7. I won't go back. read more

I read the not so great reviews but decided to try it due to its convenient location. I went in with low expectations and left a happy customer! Granted I only get basic mani and I was more in it for the pedi- so if your going for shellack or fake nails I have no feedback for you. The massage chairs were better than most salons in the area. The deluxe pedi included salt scrub, moisture mask for feet and legs and hot towel service. I also got a very nice foot/leg massage. I went in with very rough winter dried tootsies and left with soft and smooth results- alone worth what I paid since the prices are the lowest I've seen in Grand Rapids/Rockford. One thing I've learned from years of pedi's is its all about the nail-tech you get, so if Mindy is working I would recommend her. read more

I haven't been here in a while and stopped since it was close to where I was going for dinner. Came in for a pedicure and manicure. The work done was adequate but the place is dirty!! They do a 15 second job cleaning the pedicure bowls, the floors are dirty, the area to wash your hands and trash container we're dirty. I'm not being picky, it's visibly dirty. Recently went to KK Nails for the first time and my first experience getting fake gel nails. I went to the salon on 10 Mile Rd by the Rockford Meijer. My nail tech was Mindy. They looked good but not wow. I had to file some of the tips uneveness out. One week out I can see edges lifting and some dark spots developing under 5-6 nails. Looked up symptoms online and it could possibly be a bacterial infection. Not happy about this! I called the salon but they were closed due to a storm related power outage so I called their other salon by the Family Fare in Rockford and talked to the manager Sally. She said I needed to get in right away incase it was an infection. Sally said it wasn't an infection but they were lifting so bad they needed to be removed and replaced. Mind you this started to develop at 7 days after application and I was careful to use gloves when doing dishes etc. I still had to pay the price of application so within two weeks it cost me $90. for nails and $20. in tips! When I finally got ahold of the manager Lyn at the 10 Mile Rd salon to make a complaint she was so unreasonable she wouldn't even give me a free fill for the crappy job Mindy did. It looks like Sally did a much better job and didn't charge me the standard $10. fee for removing my gel nails. We'll see how it goes. read more

I used to go here often and decided to bring my friend from out of state. Although it wasn't my establishment I was bit embarrassed that I even brought her here. Everything was filthy and they did such an awful job. I think I was there for 15-20 minutes and they were done. I go to another salon in GR so I know the normal routine and a lot of it they skipped. I also have been here in the past and the owner even did mine and I could just tell she wasn't into it anymore. It's sad because this is local for me but I will not be returning. read more

Everything was okay. Just okay. The people are okay... Friendly, but sometimes anti social. The woman (while we were getting the manicures done) asked if I would pay at that second. I'm not sure of this is unusual or not but I've never had it happen. My best friend and I got the French Manicures. The woman did not get all of my polish off, and it is visible in my manicure still. The manicure over all was OKAY... Uneven and a little sloppy. Would recommend for maybe a pedicure? Something that won't be seen or doesn't need to last for a while. read more

They'll rip you off!!! And are using a razor for pedicures ILLEGALLY (I wouldn't let them use it on me) I just left. My mom got a deluxe pedicure which we were told had hot stones and didn't. I got a deluxe pedicure with a gel manicure. I asked about pricing and was told mine was $50 plus $5 for shellac. My moms was $35. I go to pay and all of a sudden my bill is $125!!!!! After visiting two of the nail salons in downtown Rockford for walk-in availability and being greeted by both with a sneer, I decided to try this place. I'm surprised at the negative reviews for this place. They were nothing but professional, kind and courteous. It's a pedicure, not a biopsy - it's hard to mess up. In fact, they did a fantastic job and the price is great. I would recommend this place to anyone, even the snobs in Rockford! I'll be back for sure. read more

I had acrylic nails put on. They are very thick and look unnatural (sticking upward and out). The women were very accommodating, but if you're going for acrylic nails, this is not the place to go. I've had much better. Everyone there was really nice, though and it seemed clean there. read more

After my friend had gotten a nail infection the last time she was there, I made the mistake of going back. The woman I had was more than unfriendly and said I was too picky with my desire of just two colors and no design. I asked for a new nail person because I was so uncomfortable by her rudeness but she refused. She kept trying to add fees and was talking blatantly about me to the other workers. She ultimately took her frustration out on my nails digging her fingers into mine and doing an awful job. I left with wet nails because I couldn't wait to get out of there. read more

I usually have pedicures here. They are careful and clean, and give me the pedicure (basic or more) according to what I ask for. When I had a bad hip, they helped me in and out of the chairs. I recommend this place. read more

I knew i wanted to get acrylics done for my school dance and a few of my friends said they always go to K & K so i was under the impression it was a good place. After she put the nail tips on, she placed the cutting tool on it at a really short length (i like my nails long) and asked if that was good. I said "maybe a little longer" but she clipped it right away and said "oops too late!". Two of my nails ended up being totally different lengths. So there i was, knowing i would have short nails which i really don't like, but trying to stay optimistic. She then went on to do the acrylics and her acrylic 'beads' were definitely way to wet (i only knew this because i had watched videos on how the acrylic process works). I asked to do a coffin shape and she said it was 5 extra dollars, so i said maybe a round shape. She responded with "I can try" but still gave me very square nails which i don't really like. Her words were "I think square would look better" as if she was the one who would wear the nails. The paint job was okay, but pooled in my cuticle area and the acrylic was oddly pooling under my nails. I filed down the bottom part when i got home so it looked more natural which definitely helped, but i still left the salon unhappy. The photos i attached were a few days later so my nails had a chance to grow out from the polish on my cuticle and the filing of the acrylic helped make it look better. I could tell she was a beginner because other ladies would come and check on her and how she did the nail, but it still ended up looking mediocre. Overall i think some people can have good experiences here like my friends who normally go, but i will not be going back. read more
