Food was prepared pretty quick. Small store located in Chinatown. The store definitely stands out and I was curious about it so I decided to give it a try. I thought the burgers tasted okay but they were a little bit on the smaller side. Not the best burger I've had but also not the worse. If you were craving a burger in Chinatown, I would say this is a pretty decent spot, but there's definitely better options elsewhere. We ordered the "lights out" and the "meaty boy ". The bacon for the meaty boy was thick cut, and it was pretty good. The burgers weren't overly salty and it tasted pretty fresh. Recent burger but just a bit on the oily side. The fries and the onion rings were a little bit disappointing though. It tasted like they used old oil. The fries were dry and the onion rings were overfried to the point where the exterior was hard. Finally made a stop to check out KO Burger. Glad I did. I ordered a Thrilla in Manila double and a Ring Side w/jalapeño ranch dressing (under $20 in total) at the little window. Dude gave me a ticket. 12 minutes later I grabbed my loot & I Citibiked myself to eat it hot at home. True to the plan, I plated my double smash burger on a potato roll with American cheese, jalapeños, green chili yuzu mayo & a side of onion rings. I loved the burger. Good flavor and surprisingly moist. Far better than Shake Shack and a better price point ($11!) The onion rings featured REAL onions and a crispy bite. However, they were not sufficiently seasoned. To the Midwesterners out there, there is not a burger in the city of Manhattan that tastes more like Culver's butter burger than here. The first bite took me home, with all great memories of cows and dairy (!) seeped into my brain as the buttery, tender burger with spicy K. O. sauce enveloped my mouth. You might not think much about this spot when you first walk by -- food is served through a window and there are only two standing tables outside. However, a quick read of the menu alludes to something great. I ended up going with the amusingly-named "I'd Hit That", which is their rendition of the black truffle burger you'll see at quite a few places around NYC these days. I've had plenty of burgers -- and especially black truffle burgers -- elsewhere, yet I'd venture to say this one is the best. Starting with the bun, it has a good bite to it without being overly dense or oily. The patties are thicker than you'd expect from a smash burger, maybe 50% more than usual, which made my double feel like a triple. The cheese melts nicely over the meat without being excessive, and the toppings bring a bursting variety of flavors and textures to each bite. In short, it's become one of my favorite burgers in the city thus far; I wouldn't mind walking through the rain again to get another one. read more

It has Black Truffle Mayo which is an absolute plus for me and two types of onions which are two more pluses. Another plus is the space design and mural for photo op with your burger. Also, you can edit your order meaning if there's an item you don't like in the burger listed such as onions, pickle, etc, just let the cashier know so they can inform the cook. Both were really good, so good we forgot to take a picture. We wished the hatch burger was a little bit spicier and had more of the yuzu mayo, but overall still amazing. This small burger joint serves up straight from a takeout window. They don't have room for seating, but have standing tables outside, under an awning. After I placed my order, the food did come in short order, as there was but one custoner ahead of me. To be honest, I like smash burgers up to a point. They are thin, tend to be on the smaller side, and when they are prepared on a flat grill, they are smashed, with any juices squeezed out along with it. That being the case, the burger itself along with their KO Sauce was good. The burger comes with jalepeno pepper. What really won me over, was the crinkle cut fries. They also do offer a few burgers that include some fun toppings including a bacon burger and truffle burger, I tried the Knockout burger which is their best seller. This is a classic take on a potato bun, American cheese, pickles, onions, mustard and their signature KO sauce. The crinkle fries were very yummy however I did find both sauces I got for dipping (jalapeno ranch and comeback sauce) to be on the mild-er side in terms of flavor. I don't know if i'd make another special trip to try it but if you're in the area and craving a smashburger this is your best bet. read more

The patties were smashed to perfection and the sauce paired so good. Everything was well seasoned. On the truffle burger, the truffle is very prominent and it gave it such a great umami taste. The KO was also very good as it had pickled jalapeños. I loved this place so much that I decided to go twice in the same week with my friends. The burgers had a great crispy smash to them. Both my partner and I agreed the double meaty boy was our favorite, but the I'd Hit That had a wonderful blend of flavors with an incredible Truffle mayo. The knockout burger was a great reliable smash burger. Fries were a healthy portion for their price tag (and perfectly crispy). KO Burger is in a location just off Division in the eastern part of Chinatown on the way to Seward Park that makes it a little hidden. They only have walk up service via a window to take your order, so everything is to go here. There was no line and I had no problems in placing my order, which was as good and friendly as it can be for such a quick transaction. I ordered the Meaty Boy double stacked, which is their bacon cheeseburger, with fries. It comes with raw onions, but he was happy to accommodate my request for grilled onions. They have a regular cheeseburger and another with truffle mayonnaise, as well as a jalapeno version, all of which can be ordered with a double stack of pressed/smashed patties. I actually ordered two of the Meaty Boys with fries, which, packed in my backpack, kept them warm until I got home and devoured one of them. There was a considerable amount of grease on the paper wrapper, but the burger was not overly greasy as some can be. There is no middle bun in between the smashed patties, so the appearance is on the small size. Given the level of competition in the NYC "burgerscape," I cannot state this KO Burger blows everything away and is above the competition at this high value price point. A regular single patty burger will run 9 and a double stack is 11. The quality of the meat is not at the Shake Shack level and it is not trying to compete with the likes of Minetta Tavern. However, the bacon is in there and not an afterthought. The bacon could be prepared a bit more crisp so as to offer a different texture in there to highlight its flavor more. The pickle is in there, but it does not make itself well known. Their secret KO sauce on the Meaty is tangy (with some mustard, mayo, and vinegar? I believe) and lends well to wake up the taste. The crinkle fries are good, but they too did not hit above the competition; though, definitely above what Shake Shack offers. There was clearly an aim to hit an affordable price point and deliver a filling burger, which they accomplish. If they had the option to up-charge two bucks for fresh lettuce and a nice heirloom or steak tomato slice, not too thin and doubled lettuce and tomato for the double stack (with a $3 upcharge), with crispy and caramelized bacon, that would elevate the experience immensely. Add another pickle slice or two with that upcharge, and the rating would hit higher and surpass this value segment of the market. However, I understand these are management decisions based on the market as they perceive and not what a Yelper would recommend. For now, it is a very good two and a half stars, leaning toward three, and very much worth your visit if you're in the vicinity. Don't let the two stars above discourage you. I had an appetite and ploughed right through this Meaty Boy burger. There is a lot of upside to KO. In retrospect, I wish I had ordered the jalapeno version. I'm certain that has the pop in flavor needed here. I would be interested in that feedback. read more

Absolutely hands down excellent burger - I'm shocked more people aren't buzzing about this. I've stopped by twice now (both times got the "Meaty Boy" + a side of fries). The burger most closely resembles the 7th Street smashed patty but somehow manages to over-index on flavor (the crispy edges alone provide a flavor symphony while the proprietary sauce brings the house down). Haven't encountered any wait/line and burger is ready to go, piping hot, in the 5 minutes it takes to walk around the block. Roasted garlic & truffle sauces are quite excellent flavor bombs but miraculously the crinkle cut fries don't require any sauce (I'd almost argue they are better without). This was such a great find while staying in a hotel nearby. It's the perfect neighborhood spot to get something greasy and satisfying when you're feeling a little hungry later at night. You pay at the window and then wait for your order to come out, which took about 5 minutes. I got a single knockout burger, which was your typical smashburger with the addition of pickles and pickled jalapenos. It was really tasty! The burger itself didn't blow me away, but I loved the flavor of the K.O. sauce and the tanginess of the pickles and pickled jalapenos. Overall, it felt quite balanced and not overwhelmingly greasy. I found myself wishing it was just a bit larger, but for the price ($7), it's really not bad if you want a small bite. I'd totally come back to try one of their more specialty burgers. read more
