    Ka Pow Burger

My fellow burger bozo and I have had Zaab Zaab on our radar for a while now and finally had an opportunity to try it before heading to a comedy show. Ordering was seamless through the kiosk, receiving the receipt and notification that the food was ready by text. We chose to try the Isan burger and the Ka Pow. The isan burger was deliciously spicy and the Ka Pow was super flavorful. Both were cooked perfectly and delicious, though I'd say the Ka Pow was my favorite of the two. Of course, what's a burger without fries? The Zaab fries had a very unique seasoning on them, kind of limey in the best way. We got the spicy mayo for them, but honestly, they didn't need it! Another fantastic burger joint in LES!

This review will strictly be for the fries as that was all I had gotten from this spot in Essex Market. I have no idea what Zaab seasoning meant but was very intrigued since I was watching the chef cook and all the food looked and smelled incredible. The fries were fried to absolute perfection in my opinion and the spices and seasoning that they were tossed in were so perfectly balanced and had just the right amount of kick that it left me wanting more. Definitely eat it while it's hot because they'll be nice and crispy. I saw an isan burger on their menu and I'd be very interested in coming back to try it!

This was super gross and I got upcharged for everything. I don't know how a tiny burger with a 'double patty' and a handful of fries cost $20

What a great option in Essex Market! We tried the BBQ and Ka Pow burgers and both enjoyed our meals. I really liked the kick of the Ka Pow, and the holy basil really gave the burger a true Thai touch. I also appreciate that smashburgers are not that big, but if you want to make your meal more substantial, you can do so with a reasonable upcharge by doubling the patties. Prices are relatively affordable. The fries are fried perfectly-- so crispy. We opted for the Zaab seasoning, which was pretty good (if you like lime). But honestly, they fry the potatoes so well, I'm sure the regular salted version is also great. The service was friendly, quick, and helpful. Upstairs seating is clean and plentiful. Looking forward to returning!

It seems like this business shifted away from your traditional Thai food offerings to smash burgers with a Thai twist, which I greatly appreciated. I got two burgers and an order of fries here for a grand total of 28.01, which is phenomenal seeing as how this is Manhattan. The krapow double burger was $11 and the issan double burger was 10 with fries coming in at around 4.50 I was ecstatic that I got that much food for this price. The flavors were good, but a little underwhelming as I felt like it didn't hit me with the usually fiery spices I'm accustomed with Thai food. That being said though, the burgers were done well and were juicy, topped with a nice potato bun this Thai smash burger was overall a very well done and tasty burger. Would definitely come back here again, but I do appreciate the fact that this food court has a nice assortment of affordable and creative foods.

Delicious burgers in Essex Market! Zaab Zaab serves Thai-inspired smash burgers for a really affordable price. I grabbed my burger and headed upstairs to the dining area. The Isan Burger comes with Thai peppers which adds great texture and a kick to your standard smashburger. The Zaab fries were well-seasoned and the order came with plenty of fries. Looking forward to stopping by again soon.

Khan Jee Burger. GOOD. A Smash Burger with a different twist using Sticky Rice as Buns with a Pickle for a Topping. The Buns were formidable being strong enough to hold the Burger without falling apart. GOOD flavor profile. RECOMMEND.

Zaab Zaab was great! I stopped by their stall in Essex Market because I had heard a lot of good things about their burger--and it was delicious! The guy at the counter was super nice. I got the Ka Pow burger with a side of Zaab fries and their spicy mayo sauce. The fries had a sour kick to them, really delicious. I like the Ka Pow burger a lot, super flavorful with a little bit of spice. Kind of a mix between a smash burger and sloppy Joe, but make the flavors Thai. Would love to come back but honestly might try a different burger.

We got there around opening and the line outside was already very long. Since we had a reservation, we were able to go straight to the door and were seated immediately. The menu is very extensive with a ton of different Thai dishes to choose from. I really liked how they organized the menu based on the different regions of Thailand, and everything seemed very authentic. Our waitress was still in training, but she was very nice and welcoming. She took the time to explain a lot of the menu and dishes to us and gave some great recommendations. We started with the skewers and sauce, which we were told was one of their more popular appetizers. They were pretty good, but not the best skewers I've ever had. For my main, I got the Pad Mee Korat, which reminded me of Pad Thai but came with crispy pork belly. The pork belly was very flavorful, although I wish it had been a little crispier. My friend got one of the steak dishes, and the steak bites were rubbed in spices and seasoning that gave them a ton of flavor. It was served as more of a salad, so the steak was slightly cold, but it paired really well with the onions and everything else in the dish. We finished with the mango sticky rice. It wasn't the best mango sticky rice I've had since the mango was slightly bitter, but it still paired nicely with the warm sticky rice. Overall, we had a really great experience. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the servers were attentive and responsive throughout the meal. I've definitely had better Thai food elsewhere, but this place is still up there and worth checking out, especially if you want to try dishes from different regions of Thailand.

The restaurant was busy and I was by…read moremyself so I was happy to sit at the bar, and was attended to by the most sweet bartender ever. Very polite, professional and attentive. I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

We started with the curry puffs and satay buns, both of which were easy wins. No complaints, I would happily order them again. The Khao Soi was the highlight of my meal. I also tried a little bit of the crab fried rice which was also incredible. I also ordered the lychee mocktail. The drink itself was fairly average, but it came with a lychee mochi that completely stole the show. I honestly enjoyed the mochi more than the drink itself. Overall, this is just good, no-nonsense Thai food. Nothing feels overly gimmicky. The restaurant focuses on solid flavors, a beautiful space, and warm hospitality.
