Do you need a life saver? I had a switch go bad and really needed help. Being afraid of electrical shock, I called and the lady on the phone was super sweet! It was quick to schedule an appointment and the electrician knew exactly where I lived. The morning of the appointment, they gave me a courtesy call to let me know their approximate arrival time. I learned this was a family operated business and I love supporting local businesses. The electrician was kind enough to remove shoes before walking in so that was bonus points too. I loved that the electrician took the time to explain things and tested everything before leaving. Anela on the phone was very knowledgeable and patient as a saint with all my possibly stupid questions ("Do bulbs come in different sizes? Not wattage or the sockets, but the diameter. Why does this not fit!?!") She helped me diagnose what was needed and set up a convenient appointment. She also sent a reminder the day prior (I had set an appointment about 5 days away on my day off). Iolani texted about a half-hour prior to her arrival and arrived right on schedule. My little feminist heart was pleased that a woman could be such a skilled electrician, and I appreciated that she so personable and accommodating as I had several other electrical issues she advised on. The main project was to replace a broken light/ceiling fan and remove a lightbulb that had cracked in the socket. She also checked that the house's wiring was ok. It would flicker on one or two fixture (scary if you don't know it is a problem). There were also two other that were "funky" but are now ok. Cue "how many homeowners does it take to change a lightbulb..." joke. Answer: more than two. There was also a remote control on another ceiling fan that is now on it's own frequency and not turning on with Netflix or whatever weird thing it was doing. The house feels new and safe now. Was looking all over for an good electrician company, and finally found one! Only thing is sometimes communication wasn't as good but it was fine, I still ended up to an understanding! They were good workers, nice, tried to ease my concerns cause it was an old house that needed an upgrade in wiring and panel box. After the work they went over with us on what they did. They even helped put my disposal back working, long story...., put up new lighting & fan that I bought...and even helped fix our outdoor outlet that they didn't need to. When I called, Anela was sweet as can be and answered my questions. I followed up with an email with info & photos as requested, and bright and early the next morning, Kaulana was in there got it done, and both Anela & Kaulana called to give me a roundup of what was done- at a reasonable cost as well. Schenk was recommended to me and the reps from Schenk that came out were really nice-but they didn't finish the job and one item was not wired correctly. When I called back to request that they return and redo the item, the office rep (who was not at my house when the reps were working), questioned that I knew what I was talking about. I found this to be very impolite, however, I told her that the item had been checked by someone other than myself and that indeed it was incorrect. It pretty much went downhill after that because she wouldn't allow me to finish my explanation, and it just seemed rude to treat a customer in that way. When she gave me the date to have someone return it was more than two weeks away-I decided to go to someone else and I would not recommend this business. read more

Installed outdoor breaker box, new wires, conduit for pool pump. Replaced 2 ceiling lights with recess lights in kitchen. Kaulana is professional, punctual and very reasonable. He came to my house to look at the scope of work and sent his journeyman the next day for my job. The journeyman is also professional and very neat. He even corrected the recessed light cans that were installed improperly. They have come out a couple of times to do work for us. We moved into a new house, there were lots of electrical issues. They came out the first time and fixed several things for very reasonable price. They also put together a quote for us to have some other work done. After asking around, their quote was definitely the best and we are very appreciative of the detailed work they do. At the last minute, we called before they arrived and asked if they could put up a ceiling fan in our 1960s beach house. I have been bugging my husband for some time now about calling an electrician about fixing the plugs in our kitchen. If I use my microwave I can't use my toaster. If I use my coffee grinder I can't use my dishwashers. We have two plugs on my counter and I can only use one appliance at a time. Im always tripping the breaker. We were refered to K. Almost had a fire with a smoldering outlet, so looked for an electrician the next morning. First one called was so busy they couldn't accept new work for two months, second one called no longer made service calls, and third one was Schenk. Left a message and they called back promptly--I made appt for following week, tho possibly could have taken me sooner. Pleasantly surprised the electrician who came was a woman and it's a family business, with kids having followed in their dad's footsteps. She switched out the outlet "device" and it was fixed w/in 45 minutes. Only thing is after she left, the other outlets on same circuit didn't work...luckily she was closeby helping on another job, so didn't take long to return. After repeating the steps on faulty outlet, success! I asked for opinion on the other outlets and she said they're fine for now but eventually I probably should switch them out--usually should replace every 15 years.
