I contacted OceanHead in July 2025 after a dealing with another, larger solar company for over a year. Deadline to get solar installed for the tax credit was 31 December and the previous solar company was not proactive in the least. Mark from OceanHead came out, inspected our property, and said his company could get the job done and operational well before the deadline. We did a change of contractor and in just 2 months OceanHead got HOA and HECO approval and installed the system at a lower cost and higher wattage than the previous solar company proposed. This is/was a great company to work with when it came to a seamless installation of our solar panels. When working with my elder parents (96 and 89), John was so patient and answered every question in layman's term vice using technical terms to answer all their concerns. We would recommend OceanHead Solar & Electric over and over again. We were apprehensive at first but John Yeh met with us promptly to explain the process and answer all questions. He took care of all the paperwork with HECO and our home association. Gail and Michelle worked with us to get what we expected from a solar system, even though we really didnt know. They worked with us to position the batteries where we thought was best for weather. They set us up to have power IN the house through an outage (we learned this is not automatic, so ask up front). They showed up on site to check on the progress and final product. Michelle actually inspects their work and applies the stickers! The electricians and installers were professional, friendly, and good at what they do. The pipes and lines are clean and neat. Though it rained, they worked safe to get our system up and running. Sorry so long, but one last thing... we contacted five solar companies before deciding on Oceanhead. Last year my wife and I didn't think we were quite ready to install solar yet. However we met Gail @ the BIA show and she gave us a thorough overview of its benefits and the OceanHead business. Eventually, after doing lots of additional research into solar products, costs, financing, and other solar installers we decided on her team to install an 18 panel system onto our brand new roof. The team worked and communicated well with us throughout the process. They provided timely responses and followed through in all aspects of the project planning through close-out. The installation was well coordinated and aesthetically compliments our roof line. The system is installed directly onto an open beam ceiling, so the installers were very cautious to insure the rack was anchored only into the beams. They also provided a waterproof sealing system that gave us confidence. The system has wireless communication which allows us to monitor the energy production on the web. So far its working well and I am certain that if any problems come up in the future Gail and her team will make it right. From the beginning our consultant John Yeh was awesome. Never did I feel rushed or pressured into buying anything. John explained the process very thoroughly. Ok, called them to get an estimate for having a c-wire installed on our Nest thermostat. Their ad says they work on AC as well as electrical. The lady on the phone could not have been more unwelcoming! Wanted to send someone to my house for a minimum charge of $200 just to look at it, but not do anything. Excuse me? Then she says, "you know we are electricians, right?" Um, yeah, but your ad specifically says AC. To which she replies, "yeah, we sell it, but we don't usually maintenance." Disclaimer: This is a review for a ceiling fan installation they performed, not involving solar panels. I hired this company to install 4 ceiling fans I had purchased. They quoted me 600-800 for the job and that it would take a day to complete after coming to my home and surveying the installation, less if I helped the electrician pre-assemble the fans. The electrician they sent was very friendly and professional but slow. Since they only charge by the hour, I tried to help out as much as possible with the installation. I even drove to Home Depot to buy supplies I that he did not account for in the original estimate. By the time everything was said and done, it took 2 full days to finish, I personally spent 8 hours of my own time assisting with the installation and cleaning after it was done, and i was charged $1,200 even after a price reduction for the job. I am rating 2 stars on the inability to complete a proper estimate for labor and supplies, as well as poor customer service when attempting to sort out the final billing. read more
