My son and I tried this place because we were in the area. It's been updated a little bit from when it was Island Style. More thoughtful seating and less like a cafeteria. The $12.99 AYCE banchan is the price and you can order a main dish at an additional price. The main dish is a smaller portion. Just like the AYCE BBQ menus, everyone has to order from the same menu choice so everyone at your table is charged for the $12.99 banchan. Total for lunch today was $58 with 15% tip. The service was good, friendly. It's a good sign when a lot of locals, Koreans, are eating there. Food was good. They also had barley tea which is not common to most korean restaurants. I came on a weekday dinner with some friends and it wasn't too packed. Parking is kinda small for the plaza but I was able to find parking pretty quickly at that time. the concept was pretty interesting. You basically pay 12.99 per person for unlimited sides. I'm not sure if I super like it bc a lot of Korean restaurant do banchan for free. But this place charges. However it comes with a lot of different sides. So that's a plus. The sides were all pretty authentic. You also get a clear soup that comes with it. There was a bit of a language barrier with the servers but they were really friendly and tried to help to their best abilities. It seemed like we all had to order at least one main dish or at least 75% of the party needs to order a main dish. We got the bulgogi, steamed egg, short rib, and the pork bulgogi. My favorites of the main dishes would be the pork and beef bulgogi! Super flavorful and not chewy. Overall it's not bad and pretty interesting. I may return again if I'm in the area but I'm not sure if paying for banchan is the move even if it's a wide spread. That's just comparing it to other Korean restaurants that do it for free even if it's a lesser amount. But good vibes overall. Came here for a Saturday dinner, location is the old Island Style. Menu is unique and they charge for Banchan at 13 per person and you can add a main for an additional amount. It comes out to the same price as most other Korean places. Ordered the Banchan and 3 mains. Pork feet, kalbi, and rich fermented soybean paste soup. The mains were not huge but delicious, kalbi was tender and pork feet were as expected. The rich fermented soybean paste soup was unique and very good. K Ssam Bap is a relatively new Korean restaurant that opened up. What makes them different from other restaurants is the amount of banchan that is offered. Customers pay $12.99 per person for the unlimited banchan, including lettuce wraps. (There is an additional $3 fee if you need more lettuce wraps though.) You then add on the protein option - which can range from $5.99 for a stew to $25.90 for the Braised Black Cod. Since we had a party of four, and two of them being children; we were given the option of ordering 2 unlimited banchans, along with our added proteins, and then an a la carte protein. This worked out in our favor, so we went with that suggestion. The added proteins we chose were: * Grilled Pork Neck $9.90 * Braised Pig's Trotters $15.90 * Steamed Egg $5.99 * Soy Sauce Marinated Crab $34.90 (a la carte price) We got a little over 20 different banchan from what I can gather. With so many options, we only refilled a handful of them because there was such a variety to choose from. There were quite a few that I have never had before, so that was a treat. We love that they automatically serve cold boricha (Korean barley tea). I do wish they used real glassware instead of the plastic disposable cups. Those Korean metal cups would be ideal! We were seated at a rectangular four top, but it was pretty crowded once all the dishes are laid out. We did knock over a few things, so definitely aim for a bigger table if you can. I think 2 people at these tables would make it way more comfortable. As others have mentioned, there is a bit of a language barrier but we survived and it all worked out just fine. The place was clean, they definitely deserve more customers. The language barrier was very clear, we had issues trying explain stuff. The men's restroom light was broken, floor was sticky, I did let them know but again, I don't think they quite understood what I meant, the lady did say that they already know the light was broken. This place is so amazing and charming. The staff was so friendly and helpful. The ajima was happy that I could speak a bit of Korean. The first thing to order is the full ban chan 쌈밥 정식백반 for $12.99. So many dishes to go with your meal. And then order your main meats. I ordered the Spicy Pork. The side dishes (반찬) were so yummy. Fresh kimchi and pancakes and other veggies. All of them so fresh and tasty. The Spicy Pork comes with lettuce wraps. So spicy and tender and juicy and full of flavor. I have already recommended this place to several of my Korean friends. Was recommended by a random video on Instagram I stumbled upon, and wanted to support a new small local business. Although there was only one person working to service all of the tables and service was a little slow, she was very kind. Complementary iced tea was refreshing, side dishes were plentiful and delicious (there was only one that we weren't a fan of, it was some kind of fermented salty mushy thing). We also were offered a refill on a few of the sides partway through the meal. We got the $12.99 per person, plus a beef Bulgogi, spicy stir fried squid, and a kimchi stew. It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us and the total was $70 after tax, before tip. The Bulgogi was a little dry and we could've maybe used a tiny bit more rice to finish off the sides, but other than that, everything else was great! Amazing food, incredible prices! Checked out the new K-ssambbap and I'm so glad I did. Their basic Baekban is only $12.99 and comes with 20 side dishes--all of which were fantastic. Their add-on menu is super budget-friendly too. We added the Cheonggukjang ($5.99), Pork Bulgogi ($9.90), and Grilled Atka Mackerel ($13.90). There was so much food that three of us couldn't even finish it all. Getting a feast like this for just $74.50 is unbelievable. The flavors were perfectly balanced and tasted just like authentic Korean home-cooked meals. They even gave us a complimentary seasoned raw crab, which was amazing. Not a great experience. The menu was super confusing, which ended up costing us quite a bit of money. They also don't serve tap water, or at least they acted like they didn't want to. In my opinion, all restaurants should offer filtered water and include that in their markup. The ambiance was okay. Our table was really wobbly which was annoying. I was surprised to see Island style get replaced, but Im not mad about it. This place offers a HUGE meal for roughly $25 after tax (not including tip) depending on what entree you pick. You get like 15 side dishes that are all refillable. There are a ton of other restaurants that serve the same kind of Korean food, but I will keep coming here because they charge about $5 less than ANY other Korean restaurants in the area. Firstly this restaurant is very overly crowded with plants and to many tables right as you walk in. The workers don't greet you and don't even seat you right away they expect you to just find your own seat. I find it really weird they charge each person $12.99 for side dishes like what kinda restaurant does that I was not expecting to pay over $80 for 2 kids and me for lunch. Also the workers do not go to you once in a while to ask if you need anything or water they are eating/talking at a table super unprofessional!!!
