Golf course

My boyfriend and I visited Golfland on Sunday, 11/05/23, in the evening time. We decided to do miniature golf during our visit. We participated in both 18-hole courses, which allowed us to play a total of 36 rounds. Overall, it was a fun experience and we truly had a blast. Some holes were more challenging than others, but still very enjoyable. I even liked how the Halloween decorations were still up at the beginning of November. We will be returning whenever we are in the area.

I have been coming here Since I was a kid. Super fast Water slides where you could fly out the mouth of a dragon, mini-golf, Nachos, Icees, and all the fun a kid could have! My grandma lived across the street so you know we had to go! I recently went back after years with my girlfriend on a early Sunday evening to play video games, eat candy from the candy Kramer game, and get Icees! We found it useful and funny that now it's all digital, you could choose you're own colored golf ball (whaaaa!) and we had a blast of an arcade date! See some pics and go here for a video game date!

Place has a lot of potential as it offers a lot, but it also offers a nice lesson in chaos. This place is a mess. Trying to have a nice game of mini golf with my daughter and wife, but people were jumping through the holes like nothing mattered. Some kids just showed up in front of us and WWIII almost happened. No real structure to this place. Just be prepared to have to lay the law down. Still, it's a cool spot for the kids to enjoy as long as you have a decent amount of patience. This place was packed today and mini golf isn't going anywhere.

You can never go wrong with miniature golf! My family and I have been here a couple of times by ourselves and also got invited to a birthday party. The experience was great, we had a great time both times. Don't expect much from the place as far as ambiance, it's classic/nostalgic and have not been properly modernized/maintained. We went here only to play mini golf - we have not tried any food nor the water park. Spacious parking as well.

Always fun for the family. Been there a number of times since last review. My grandkids love it, so I love it!

I think for the amount of money you spend on each child to use the waterslide, the guards can be a little more attentive to the kids who are utilizing them. Yesterday we took our kids, paid $30 dollars a kid...... So that was a total of $240. Just when we were about to leave my daughter smacks her face on the slide, literally her last slide down. And I noticed but I'm sitting on the grass so by the time I get up to walk down there to see if she's okay because she is holding her eyes struggling to get to the end of the pool, the guard is yelling at her..... (Get out of the pool). By the time I get down there there is another little girl who is in distress crying also saying she's hurt the guard is also yelling at her telling her to get out of the pool. I turn around and tell the guard she's hurt can you not yell at her, his response was ma'am she needs to get out of the pool. I tell him I understand that but my daughter whacked her face on the slide and you're yelling at her this little girl is also hurt and you're yelling at her as well. Employee lifeguard just being an asshole. Golfland should really retrain their lifeguards to do their job correctly! Clearly my daughter and the girl behind her were in distress from hurting themselves but these lifeguards did not give a fuck!

It was extremely stuffy and warm in May, reminding me of a locker room. I definitely wouldn't want to come back during the summer. We won a decent amount of prizes (albeit we spent $240), but the prizes weren't as cute as the ones I've gone to in SoCal either. It was hard finding a machine where I actually wanted the plush or figurine. They also had 6 different machines just dedicated to kuromi, which is great and all but there just wasn't much variety. Hopefully they update their selection and add more skill based machines.

They got what felt like a lot of "hand me downs". This location has geared more towards redemption games like crane, claw, and ticketed games. There isn't an emphasis on traditional video game cabinets anymore. I do love that there is an emphasis on improving food options. I remember they used to have the most basic of foods. My favorite is the $1 scoops of ice cream! I do hope that the escalators get fixed eventually so that they can run consistently.

Hoping for different selection of stuffies next time we come, so we aren't trying to win the same ones again.

Checking in was fine, except I was asked to fill out a paper version of something I already filled out online. I had pre-ordered shirts for us, and they had my son's no problem. My shirt couldn't be found, and after having me wait for 30 minutes while they organized the shirt pile I had to demand one of the "same day sale" shirts because they were about to sell out and no one else thought of that solution. We finally get into the event and its dark. Its hot. We aren't allowed any outside drinks, not even water. Every game that wasn't broken (a lot were) seemed to have a line, and no one was in a hurry to let others play. There was no communication that there was a 2nd room with driving/flying games, we stumbled on that ourselves. We gave it 4 hours, and at the end we just left. I was told by staff that they weren't expecting this many people so they were completely in chaos. It really showed.

They are held at California Extreme in Santa Clara, Golden Gate Pinball Festival in Lodi and Pin-a-Go-Go in Dixon. California Extreme is not exclusive with Pinball Machines. There are also tons of arcade games for those who enjoy them. We have enjoyed attending these events whenever we're able to. In the past, our work schedules often got in the way. Now that we're retired, our vacation schedules often cause conflicts. The people who run this event have always done a tremendous job of getting others to bring their beloved machines, set on free play, for the masses to play. In return, they get free admission. A substantial number of volunteers are also needed to load-in, load-out, wipe down, perform minor repairs, scorekeepers, registration, check-in, etc., etc. We attend to see Pinball Machines that we've never seen before, to play with machines that are hard to find, to play new machines, but mostly to play in the tournament. Yes, there are cash purses and trophies or plaques to be one. Bragging rights galore! But for players at my level, it's mostly about WPPR Points that affect your International Flipper Pinball Association Ranking. As I write this review, I am 8640 out of 103,576 players in the world. Does it mean anything? Only to my ego. At one time, I was sub-3000. I simply don't play in enough tournaments to keep my ranking. This year's tournament entry fee was $2 per game. That is not particularly expensive BUT there was no limit to the number of entries that one could purchase. This changes that tournament of skill and luck to one of skill, luck and DEEP POCKETS. In my opinion, there should be a single buy-in. Everyone plays the same number of games on the games that are available. Yes, this will reduce the prize money but so what? Whatever happens, happens. If you have a great day, congratulations. If you have a lousy day, better luck next year. But under the unlimited buy-in, you just keep putting out money until you have a few good games to tie together for your final score. What? The tournaments almost over but you're in 11th place and only the first 10 places are in the money. Well, play some more and hope to improve your score and win! Anyway, without the tournament to play in, I will either only attend California Extreme one day only or skip it all together moving forward. Additionally, this year, for the first time, the Hyatt is now charging $40 to park overnight. This was either not disclosed at the time of booking or I somehow missed it. When I complained, it was discounted $20 because I was staying there for California Extreme and another $10 because I'm a Hyatt member. I was told that, "all the other area hotels are charging more for parking and the Hyatt is just trying to catch up." There was a 49ers exhibition game on Saturday, August 19th, and parking was expected to be at a premium and traffic would be a zoo. To counter that, we arrived way early to get a space. We arrived at 8:30 for a 10:00 opening. Because we left the house so early, we didn't have time to eat breakfast, but we had plenty of down time in the hotel (check-in was at 3:00pm), so we opted for breakfast in the hotel (see our review for Evolution). Breakfast Buffet at $28 per person vs Continental Breakfast at $22 per person. So, while California Extreme is still lots of fun, between the costs and the crowds and a Deep Pocket Tournament, it may be time for us to move on.
