Adding a comment about customer service. The young woman / teenager we spoke to was rude and showed no social skills. My wife is pregnant and we wanted to make sure there's no risk, but she wasnt able to tell us if thats ok, not even give us the info to check on our end, and overall we got contradicting info. The flight-seeing experience itself was amazing! Full marks to that. However, K2 aviation was very unprofessional!!! We had booked for their basic (blue) tour with glacier landing, but because of bad weather, the original booking had to be canceled. Since the weather was nice the next day, we called to book again but we did not want the glacier landing (because we had done a glacier trekking tour the previous day). They said it was fine and they would take all the other details from our previous booking. Everything went well the and the tour was good. Later, I realized that they charged me ~100$ more than the cost. When I called them, they told me that they put us on a longer tour than the one we had asked for, WITHOUT ASKING US!! When I called them about this, they said (in a very casual, matter-of-fact way) that I anyway had a good time and that I anyway saved in comparison with my original booking (with landing). WTF!! So I should be cool about it. Save yourself some disappointment and book with Talkeetna Air Taxi. My friends had a great experience with them. read more

The employees here always put guest experience first. If the tour isn't going to run as described they allow the guest to cancel, which most flight seeing places for denali do not. I always recommend them when I suggest things for my guests to do (I'm a tour guide) and everyone always has a once in a lifetime, memorable experience. read more

Did the glacier landing summer 2013. Due to weather our flight tour was changed during the flight and cut short. People are fairly nice, but I was kind of disappointed that tour was short lived and we didn't get to fly over denali. I did get a partial refund, but I would have rather get a reschedule instead. read more

Horrible company!!! felt as if they didnt want our business!! Their boss is rude and have no courtsey to how to deal with his customer. He even deals with his staff with more rudenss. we cancelled our trip with them an hour before our flight because of his rudeness and asking us much more than the other companies were charging for the same day for Glacier landing. Flying with our pilot Patrick on the glacier landing tour was one of the most incredible things I've ever done. The plane was clean, the check in process was easy, and the views were incredible. Being on a glacier on a mountaintop was completely different than the time we'd spent on the Mendenhall in Juneau earlier on the trip and I'd recommend them both. Patrick was clearly really knowledgeable not only about the area but also as a pilot - I was extremely confident in his ability to fly is safely and loved every minute in the air. read more

Did the mountain tour and glacier landing. It was scary, but one of the most awesome flying experiences I've ever had. Our pilot was great and experienced. We flew in a 1955 Otter with plenty of space inside and it felt very stable. Overall, a great experince. I would do it again! read more

We had a great experience. Our pilot, Jeff, was personable and made us feel comfortable and safe. I was quite anxious as I do not care for flying, but the takeoffs and landings were so smooth, I wasn't even sure that we had taken off or landed. This was the best experience ever!! Our pilot was awesome. I highly recommend taking Dramamine if at all motion sick because the air over the valley is bouncy. This is the worst tour I ever had. Do NOT use this company if you care to have meaningful tour and NOT ruin your trip. The Owner of the company flew us (4 people). ALL HE SAID FOR ENTIRE ONE HOUR tour was "That is mount mckinley" and then 10 minutes later when it was close "That is mount Mckinley" That was ALL he said except two other sentences, "DON'T put your camera to glass. It is plastic. It's going to scratch my plane". (I only took like 5 photos by this time). He didn't let us use the headphone to block the noise and communicate. (He later told our tour company that the headphone is $1000 each and he didn't want us to break it.. WHAT THE F*CK" We spent $1100 in ONE freaking hour for it. We had 2 twin boys which the pilot never gave any hand for them, my wife or me to get on to the plane. After we landed, I made complaint to my tour company immediately for the horrible one hour on the air, my tour company decided to never use K2 Aviation as part of the tour any more. IT WAS WORST ONE HOUR OF MY LIFE!!! For all the visits, I only heard following, "Make sure they paid" (the owner pilot telling the woman on front desk). "Get on to the plane" "Don't put your camera to glass. It is plastic. It's going to scratch my plane" "That's McKinley" (when we were closer to the mountain) "That's McKinley" (when we were very close to the mountain) He didn't respond to any of our questions which we stopped asking after two as he never responded to our question. No explanation of anything about which mountain, or any thing. It is supposedly tour but obviously, it's not what he thinks or he is just being racist. We loved 7-days Alaska tour under our tour company except this horrible experience with this company. If you don't want to ruin your vacation, do NOT use this company. read more

We did two flight seeings of McKinley, and this was our second. It says something that I wasn't bored even though I'd already been once. It was awesome, the pilot said different things than the first flight, got different views. It was beautiful and amazing. Pilot and staff were super nice and informative. Daniel was our pilot today and I was impressed with his professionalism as well as the efforts he made to make people feel welcome. This group goes the extra mile to be sure everyone is safe, well taken care of and enjoying the adventure. I was also impressed how the pilots constantly spoke with each other updating each other about "choppy weather" conditions in some areas and preferred routes. Landing on the glacier was a great experience and expertly handled by our pilot. Again, the pilots were communicating about conditions which helped optimize our landing. K2 Aviation is the flight service to use in Talkeetna, for either climber support or flightseeing. I've flown with them for both: as a climber flying into Kahiltna base camp in 2003, and as a sightseer for a "grand tour" of Denali and the surrounding mountains in 2013. They are extremely professional and have terrific equipment: large turbine powered Otters, mid-sized Beavers, and small Cessna 185s. For flightseeing, a glacier landing is definitely recommended. My wife and I landed on the Ruth Glacier and the experience of a landing on a glacier with skis is unforgettable! These flights may be pricey, but they are worth it. read more

I've been flying with K2 for 8 consecutive years for a reason. Each year, I do the same flight which tells you right away that it must be good. The same tour somehow offers something new each year. I gave this one star initially. We drove for two hours to find out that they had canceled our Mt. McKinley tour and that we would be going on the Knik Glacier Tour instead. I was irritated, and rightfully so. I expect more for someone offering customer service. I wrote a one-star review. Tonight, I offer my apologies, and I want to make it clear that it is because of Daniel, the pilot from Arizona, that I am giving this excursion 5 Stars. Daniel is not even from the area. This is his second summer here. He kept all of us informed and engaged from the first moment he accepted responsibility for us on the tarmac before we set foot upon that gorgeous 1952 De Haviland Beaver. We did a Tour Cruise of Alaska with Celebrity Cruise Lines the end of May and early June. Had not planned a flight to see Denali and changed our minds at the last minute. I wish I had been told of the severe haze from northern forest fires and increasing cloud cover before takeoff, not after! Visibility was terrible! The pilot mumbled and played music, and told us he was an introvert and hated talking to people!! Check on visibility before you pay your $$ read more

The flight was cancelled in a cloudy day, but K2 avaition never notified us about the cancellation even when I called them 2 hrs before the scheduled flight, after we arrived they told us they haven't been flying for quite a few days because of the weather, and gave us an option for 30 minutes flight in the valley for $180 (or so), which we were not interested in at all. It turns out a waste of a whole day in Talkeetna, we would have travelled to Fairbanks if they notified us about the cancellation beforehand. read more

my wife and I wanted to fly over Denali so we stopped in to see our options. the staff was very friendly and helpful. they set us up for a tour 2 hours later. unfortunately in that time the weather on the mountain changed as a snow storm covered the area. even though the weather was questionable they tried to accommodate us anyway. our pilot was Ryan, he was very personable and a great pilot. we got to the base of the mountain before the weather cancelled our tour. since we didn't get to finish the tour we were invited back to try again great customer service and great communication by the team there. when we got back we spent 30 minutes talking about life in Talkeetna, I highly recommend K2, you will be pleased read more

Easily the highlight of our Alaska trip. We booked a Mt McKinley tour with glacier landing. We were disappointed with the weather the past few days but on the day of our flight seeing trip, weather was perfect. We got to see the mountain and the views were just so fantastic. You will have to go on one, no words can describe the beauty of nature. The staff were very courteous and professional. Our pilot, Chris was just amazing, landing and take off both on glacier and land were really smooth. It is expensive but totally worth your money. My wife and I took the McKinley Flyer ( 1 hour 15 mins) this morning. Initially we thought the cost was a bit high, but after the excellent experience, it was worth every cent! The pilot was excellent and provided information throughout the flight which enhanced the visual experience. Probably the best experience ever? They promptly pick you up at your hotel and take you to the airstrip. It's a quick check in and grab some snow boot slip ons if you're doing the glacier landing. The flight was comfortable and expertly narrated. The glacier landing was perfect. You really won't find a better flight experience. If you go cheaper, you'll get what you pay for-less! This flight with K2 Aviation was one of the two highlights of our vacation (along with a tour of Prince William Sound with Lazy Otter). Everyone in my family wanted to flight-see around Denali, but we thought it was too expensive. In the end, I decided that it was an opportunity we shouldn't miss and scheduled a flight. I am so glad I did. There are really no words to describe the views of the mountains and the glaciers. Our pilot, Chris, was exceptional. He changed his flight patterns to give us the best views and also gave us lots of information about the area. We were disappointed that we weren't able to land on the glacier, but appreciated that they had our safety in mind. We did see all of Denali and it was spectacular. The ride was bumpy at times and the smell of the fuel wasn't pleasant, but the experience of riding in a small plane and seeing what we did definitely out-weighed those issues. K2 is easy to work with. I would highly recommend a flight-seeing tour with them. read more

We flew with Patrick on the Green Flight Route. We saw several mountains including Denali, glaciers, etc. The views were stunning. It was a sunny day and Denali could be seen for miles, even from the ground. My only regret is not including on our flight the landing on the glacier. We could see the base camp from the plane though - like pepper flakes on the ground! The staff at the office were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended. read more

Staff booked us on summit tour but told us we may have to take different tour when we arrived because they did not have enough passengers and need to make money, although they charged my card over 400 dollars for this tour without telling me, figured it was just to hold reservation. I have to give this FBO 5 stars for the great job that they do to give each and every passenger a great and rememberable flying experience. We hired them for a Mt McKinley flying experience. They have both low wing and high wing aircraft and several experienced pilots that will fly you to the mountain for a up close view. We flew in a 5 passenger (plus pilot) Piper Six aircraft that ran great but had a few upholstery blemishes. Our pilot, Chris, did a great job of pointing out the various highlights of the trip. The mountain, above 17,000 ft was obscured but was still a wonderful sight being so up close. We were also shown where Don Shelton, a great Alaskan bush pilot legend, built a home close to the mountain and many other sites that could not be seen without taking the K2 Aviation Flight Experience. Details of many glaciers, mountains and valleys were narrated by our pilot, Chris, that did a wonderful job. A one hour flight turned into a 1 1/2 hour flight of a lifetime. I would highly recommend that if you want a thrilling experience that you will always remember, talk to K2 Aviation in Talkeetna, Alaska. read more

In the office, there were certificates posted indicating they are the best flying tour company. To be the best not only you need to know how to give good tours but also know how to treat your customers when there are problems. To keep this short, they gladly took reservations from us to do a tour to Denali. We drove 2 hours up to Talkeenta from Anchorage to find out they are not able to fly to Denali due to weather but they are offering to fly to a different location instead. We were set on Denali and a glacier landing so we declined the offer. We rescheduled for the next day hoping the weather would enable us to take the tour. We did not want to drive up the next day and then find out they cannot fly due to weather so we called the next morning and it turns out weather is again prohibiting the tour. If we did not call, we would end up driving up all for nothing again. I can't say anything bad about the tour as I was not able to go on one. Unable to give the flying tour due to weather is completely fine. I am glad you are looking out for your customers safety. However one phone call if you are unable to fly regardless what the reason is certainly can save people (your customers) a lot of trouble. It's not like we live at Talkeenta and for those that do not live nearby would certainly appreciate it if you would let them know ahead of time there maybe issues with the tour. We did provide a contact phone number so there is no excuse to leave it to your customers to call you to confirm if the tour is happening or not. read more
