Carmel Frap, Fontana coffee "Katherine's Blend, Southeast Texas Olive Oil (devers tx) & Muldrow Bee Farm (beaumont honey)
    Melissa C.

I live in Galveston and was home for a few days. As I was on my way to Pink Chandelier via Southern Shears hair salon...I needed a coffee and YELPED for a shop nearby; and wa-la...K2. Which I had no idea Katherine and Co had a 2nd location with longer hours...so, I was VERY excited because I had never been to either. This little cafe is in a strip center off to the side..and too cute. They have prepared meals, dips , salads, fresh ready to eat food...coffee, tea, and smoothies. I got a Carmel frappe, Fontana Coffee, SE Texas Olive Oil from Devers, TX and Muldrow Bee Farm from Beaumont. This local honey company supports "The Giving Field" (where the bees/honey come from) The GF is a non profit organic garden where the $$ goes to help feed the community. LOVE LOVE LOVE everything about K2 and the other small businesses they support. SHOUT OUT to the young lady barista (w/long brown hair) that was working on July 11th around 445p---SHE has the type of personality that any business would want working for them---helpful, patient and kind. BUY LOCAL SUPPORT LOCAL will be back!

Kylee, thank you for visiting us here on Yelp! While we do use some organic produce in certain menu items, the entire menu would not be considered "organic". I hope that helps, and we hope to serve you soon!!

There's a new kid in town, his name is Layne, let's give him a little love…read more The Hunny and I did that, we went to see how good Layne's Chicken Fingers is. First, it's at a competitive location. Chick-fil-A is very close to the freeway exit, and Raising Cane's is across the street. And that's just the chicken. The short distance between I-10 and 11th Street has a lot of places to eat, including a Dairy Queen. Time will tell how well Layne's does. The food is pretty good, right about at Cane's level. The chicken fingers are smaller, which works out for people with smaller appetites. The Hunny had regular and I had spicy, we both enjoyed our meals. She had hers inside two slices of Texas toast, and they kept falling out. Several sauces are available: honey mustard (me), buttermilk ranch (her), BBQ, Layne's special, I forget the other. Or you can do like I did and douse the chicken with Cholula. So, pretty good, not all that memorable. It's certainly not bad, and the price is good. But Chick-fil-A has a larger selection, and is better funded with so many restaurants nationwide. And Cane's has a quirky character that stands out from the rest. Compared to them, Layne's has joined the crowd like a minor political party among the Democrats and Republicans, shouting "Hey! Look at me! I'm here too!" It doesn't have the distinctives of either Chick-fil-A or Cane's, but I think it can still succeed. Go ahead and stop by, you should like what you get.

"Food, Glorious Food, Going to a deli…read more It makes me feel good, It makes me feel selly." (well, "silly" didn't rhyme, so if Ogden Nash could mangle words to make them fit his poems, then so can I) Oliver Twist from the crappy musical "Oliver!" would have a good time here. The menu has several selections of sammys for sale, both meat and non-meat. You can also pick out what extras you'd want: mayo, pickles, hot peppers, garlic, or oil (likely not 5W20). Location: On the road to Kountze. Too far to walk there from the high school, but close enough to the hospital. Several fast food restaurants within close distance. Parking lot is only one lane wide, but you should still be able to find parking. Know your limits. There are three sizes: 4 inch Skinny, 8 inch Original, 12 inch Big. The Hunny had a Chicken Club, I had Mama's Meatball. I marked mine down to 3 star because I had multigrain bread, and the strange grain taste overwhelmed everything else, and I've had better meatballs. The Hunny liked hers, and was pleasantly surprised to see bacon in there. For the less important things: Decor didn't really stand out. Service was with a smile. I joked about getting multigrain bread ("can you tell I'm from California?"), and the girl said "so's my boyfriend. He loved this one sandwich shop where he came from, and he said that Potbelly is better!" I doubt that anything can beat Capriotti's, but maybe there are selections at Potbelly that do. I'll need to investigate, heh heh. I ate at Firehouse Subs some time ago, and I think their food is better. I may have just gotten a raw deal at Potbelly this time, or maybe I should get white bread instead. Whatever. Potbelly Sandwich Shop is an option if you're in the area.

As always, the restaurant was packed--which is always a great sign that something good is happening in that kitchen! My waitress, Bailey, was sweet, attentive, and very accommodating, making the experience even more enjoyable. I started with a cup of their famous tomato bisque, and let me just say... I simply cannot come here without ordering it. This heartwarming soup, made with slow-roasted tomatoes, shrimp stock, cream, and Creole seasoning, is rich, comforting, and truly soothing to the soul. It remains my absolute favorite--if you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it! For my entrée, I ordered the Avocado Multi-Grain Toast. It's a light and satisfying plate featuring mashed avocado spread over thinly sliced multi-grain bread, served with your choice of sausage or bacon, an egg cooked your way, and a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was well-prepared and very tasty. If I could make one small personal tweak, I would love to see this served on a thicker slice of buttery toasted sourdough, maybe with a sprinkle of feta on top. That's just my personal preference and how I enjoy my avocado toast--others may find this version just right as is! The search continues for my perfect avocado toast, but this was a delicious and enjoyable stop along the way. Happy Sunday, and keep sharing those amazing finds on Best Bites!

On my most recent visit, I sat at the bar and started with a Buffalo Trace bourbon while looking over the menu. The bartenders here are always attentive and welcoming; in fact, the bartender remembered me from previous visits, which speaks volumes about the level of service they provide. Dinner was a ribeye cooked medium-rare with asparagus, and it was exactly what a good steak should be: perfectly cooked, with great flavor, and served hot. The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing. I followed that with their lemon icebox dessert and a lemon drop, both excellent, and finished the evening with a Four Roses Small Batch Select for a nightcap. What really sets J Wilson's apart is the staff's consistency and professionalism. The bartenders, servers, and kitchen team all seem to work together smoothly and take pride in the experience they deliver. Even on a busy night, with spring break crowds and daylight saving time throwing schedules off, the service remained attentive, and the food came out exactly right. If you're looking for a reliable steakhouse in Beaumont with excellent steaks, a strong bourbon selection, and top-notch service, J Wilson's is hard to beat. Five stars. Always a great experience.
