Really liked this place. Everything here is very affordable, entrees are around 8 bucks, soups 3, appetizers no more than 5. The homie and I ordered samosas, phal, tandoori, salad, lassis and a chicken wrap, all came out to about 30 bucks. Everything was spiced well and well cooked. Waiter was super nice, helpful and attentive. He warned me that the phal was incredibly hot too lol, i said yeah whatever. It was a pretty medium spice level for me but I like that they do spice things up a little bit! If you have a touchy stomach you definitely might want to grab a cold lassi to coat the innards if you're going to get something spicy ;) It's kind of in an out of the way part of Hamtown, I'm guessing that's why there wasnt a ton of people there. Shame, because its one of very few good Bangladeshi/ Indian restaurants around there. Superb Indian/Bengali restaurant. Please don't be deceived by the looks of this place. The food was super flavorful and fresh. My friend and I shared the Naga biryani, mixed grill tandoori, and chicken 65. These were probably the best versions we've had of these dishes in the Metro area. The spice level was perfect. Be warned though, the Naga biryani is only for real ones who can handle their spice. Treat it with respect. The mixed grill came out on a sizzling iron pan and was super flavorful and moist. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive. He made sure we had plenty of naan and water. To finish, we ordered the gulab jaamun which is a dense cake ball soaked in a flavored simple syrup served chilled. We got 6 enormous pieces for $5! In total, my friend and I, both big guys with big appetites, ate like kings for under $40. We will be returning with our entire crew for dinner in the very near future. read more

We really enjoyed the food and the courteous service. Our waiter was the teenaged nephew of the owner, and he forgot our tea, but he's new to this. We had dall soup, which was my daughter's favorite, but I liked the mullagatawny soup better. The owner gave it to us for free because he was out of the vegetable pakoras. The chicken tikka masala was amazing. My daughter had the vegetable curry and a samosa, which she said was the best she'd ever had. The owner suggested the biryani for our next visit. The tea was also amazing. It was like a spiced chai. The only bad thing was that it was a very small glass. As to atmosphere, the paintings on the wall and the chandeliers are very beautiful, but none of the tables match. It looks like it was once a carry out restaurant. A trusted source, i.e. my boyfriend, told me the chai here is just as good as what he's had in India, and I gotta say, from personal experience, it's like a smooth, balanced coating for your esophagus--and soul. Their naan is among the best I've had, and the chana masala paired with their basmati rice is also hella good. I highly recommend you try their pasanda, with your choice of chicken or lamb marinated in a sweet almond creamy sauce. I'm still dreaming about it. This place is absolutely amazing! Their pan fried pomfret (a type of fish) as well as pomfret curry is authentic and delicious! Also, you can pick your spice level: I chose to make the pan fried fish "extra extra hot" and the curry "Madras hot". They were both really spicy, so I think the spice levels here are pretty authentic/not-watered down for non-South Asians. They also deliver to downtown Detroit! This is our go-to Indian take-out place. Diverse set of dishes, good drinks and naan, and even the mild and medium dishes have a lot of spice flavors without just being spicy. This was our first time ordering from here. They delivered in under 1 hour and the food was still HOT! Local places won't deliver outside of hmm, 2 miles, this place is in Hamtramck and we live in Ferndale. Ok, so we purchased a rather large spread just to try them out. Shingara: Didn't know what to expect. I like it. Puff pastry filled with some vegetables and potato concoction. Nice. Vegetable Samosa: Similar to what you'll find at most restaurants that sell them. Mainly potato filled with a few vegetables. I like them so there really wasn't a wow factor, most Samosa's haven't been a WOW for me, I just like the dish itself. Aloo Chop: Didn't have a clue as to what I should expect. It's deep fried so hey, couldn't be bad, right? Good different type of dish. The crust was nice. Aloo Chaat: Anything with coriander has to be at the least, good. This was a good dish. the potatoes could've been cooked a bit longer, but otherwise it paired very well with the use of the naan. I'd order it again. Chicken Tikka Masala: I didn't eat this, I'm non dairy and no meat/poultry. My wife on the other hand, she enjoyed this. Said it was "YUMMY". Shrimp Biryani: Nice change from a typical Shrimp Fried Rice. I'm not sure if they're prepared the same, but the similarity was there. Now as far as the shrimp...amazing. They didn't use those small ones, they used nice sized shrimp and I had plenty of them in the dish. This was a WOW for me as most restaurants seem to use the smaller shrimps. Tasting the shrimp alone, you can tell they've seasoned them differently than that of the rice mixture. Naan: A bit thick. I've been to a restaurant that made a similar bread but they called it a Roti. I don't know how similar and different they should be, but it was good, especially with the dishes we had. Peshwari Naan: Not as sweet as I've had before, but it did the job. We will definitely be ordering from them again. Maybe not as much as we did today, but definitely a go-to spot. I tried to order takeout from Reshmi the day I moved to Detroit. The reviews for the food were good and Indian food sounded ideal after a long day of moving. I used their website and ordered through a third party, Eat 24. I expected the food to be ready in about 15 minutes but I soon got a call from Eat 24 that it would take an hour. Fine, I waited an hour then drove to the restaurant. Once I arrived, I was told that the chef refused to even look at my order and it would be at least another hour (if at all) before I could get my food. By this point I was hungry and decided to cancel my dinner order although I did buy a mango lassi, which was ready to go. It tasted delicious but did not make up for the fact that I had to figure out something else for dinner in an unfamiliar place on a day that I was exhausted and hungry. I also had to go through a frustrating process with the third party to get my money refunded, but that is not up to Reshmi. Overall, I cannot speak to the quality of the food but I would give them no stars for service, even though the guy at the front was perfectly polite, nothing was being done about my actual order. read more
