When we finally made it upstairs we were placed in a corner with no lights and no service. Even after complaining we still received no help. If you're ever in Richmond this is an awesome party spot. The club is located on the top of the Hilton hotel where we're staying. I really enjoyed it cuz it's pretty cool to have a club right on top of the hotel so if you get drunk you don't have far to go all you have to do is walk down back to your room the dress code was good the dress code is business casual no hats no sneakers which gives you the type of crowd that you want. The club is very spacious and open couches everywhere outside on the balcony the music was good the atmosphere was very nice the dance floor is quite big two bars and all the bartenders are very friendly. There's no cover charge which is awesome the drink price is pretty reasonable didn't try anything on the menu but the prices were good also. read more

I depended on her a lot because I live in SC so was difficult for me bc I don't know Richmond. She had great ideas and so helpful and patient. I left my bag at the venue and she delivered it to my hotel! Who gives service like that these days??? A big challenge was that we set up outside and it started to rain 15 minutes before the event was to start. We had to move EVERYTHING inside! The entire team pitched in to help. The last time I was here was a couple months ago and Ive been meaning to write a review ever since, due to such a terrible experience. My boyfriend and I chose Kabana for the rooftop view(this was not our first time). We visited on a Friday night from about 7-9. We did not have reservations but we were able to get a seat at the outdoor bar. We ordered Crab dip, fried calamari and and bang bang shrimp. Did not enjoy a single item. No effort in the appearance of the food either. All 3 appetizers looked and tasted like they were taken out of the freezer and microwaved. We informed our waitress that the food was terrible, we barely ate much, and she did not seem surprised... however she did not offer anything to rectify the situation. The people sitting next to us also had many complaints for their experience. Aside from dining, the view is beautiful, the vibe/music could be much better. Fast forward 5 hours later, my boyfriend and I woke up mid morning, both experiencing severe stomach aches. We spent the next few hours suffering from what was clearly food poisoning. It clearly came from Kabana because it was the only meal we shared alike the entire day. A few days later, I called Kabana to inform them of our experience, I left a voicemail and received a return call a week later. I informed the manager of the experience and she let me know she would escalate the situation and get back to me. I never received a follow up. I give this place 2 starts because I've been here a few times, once to celebrate my birthday with which I brought 6 other guests, and this was by my far my worst experience. Now if you're expecting to mingle, sit down, kick your feet up...this isn't the place lol. You're going to have to take a couple of laps around the spot to feel the area. Kabana Rooftop was an okay experience. We had a 6pm reservation. We arrived right on time, around 6:05. We were a party of two. When we arrived the bar staff told us someone would be with us shortly. When the hostess arrived, we asked could we sit in one of the open seat with a canopy because it was a very hot & sunny day. She expresses that there were no seats available on that side and told us we would have to sit at the sky bar. So as we are walking by the canopy seats, we asked her why couldn't we sit there and she expresses that every other canopy area seat blocked off for social distancing, which still was mind boggling because the way they are already sectioned off, they are already setup for social distancing with plenty of space between parties. And the one that was available, they said they were saving in case of a larger party. So we didn't trip. We just went with the flow. When we get around the corner to the sky bar seating, this area was jammed packed, elbow to elbow, no social distancing at all. So I was like REALLY? How can you sit me here with no social distancing but then say the social distance area was off limits? So I asked for a manager. The same lady who sat us came back and asked what the problem was? I hate I didn't get her name because she was rude and ignorant. So I expressed the issue to her and she says well I cant explain why you cant sit there. Another party arrives with 3 people and they were seated in the open canopy seat that we inquired about. Plus there was a party of two in a canopy seat as well. So here reasoning was just not adding up. So I told her I wanted to see a manager. Not another hostess or waitress who cant help me and who knows nothing. The manager finally comes and says the sky bar should be set up for social distancing but the staff didn't separate the seats properly. He then went to offer us one of the blocked off canopy seats for the inconvenience, so that was a plus. The moment we sat down they brought us cold water and menus. We started off with drinks. $13 Sunset Margarita & $13 Blue Horizon. Well, for the price, these drinks were trash. I only drank about a third of my drink and my friend drank maybe half. They just didn't live up to the price, the name, or the descriptions. We had such a bad experience at the spot before that we were unsure if we wanted to order any food but we bit the bullet and ordered the Pork Belly & Watermelon Skewers. OMG! Now, these were amazing. Seasoned well and very tasty. I would have never thought to grill watermelon, let along with pork. It was a great combination and delicious. Our waiter Meredith was attentive and kept checking in with us. Because of covid and limited seating, they limit every party to a two hour window. Just at our two hours out waitress expresses the rules and told us we would have to be ending out visit soon. We were actually prepping to leave anyway, so two hours was long enough. I would probably return to Kabana if they had some kind of special event or party. But I am okay with or without. The view was nice from certain sides of the roof. The atmosphere seemed pretty chill. We enjoyed the food, and the Frozee (frozen Rose) I believe. For some reason it always looks like a little confusion in the lobby when coming up. Other than that nice place to visit. The waitress was very polite and friendly. They checked on us frequently. We had no issues with an allergy accommodations this time. However after we were seated we noticed our behinds felt wet and we realized the cushions seemed dry to touch but after sitting the water dripped out from underneath and on top which caused our pants to be wet. The group next to us noticed as well. We requested extra napkins to sit on which helped. When we first arrived we ordered a bottle of wine and a few appetizers. Everything was delicious, calamari had a nice taste and the Brussel sprouts were very good. As the rest of our party arrived, we noticed a change in the appearance of food and the calamari was very spicy. We questioned why the same meal tasted so different and even the presentation was different (second time came with beans and a salad). The waitress mentioned the chefs changed. So we continue to order and two items we specifically requested no cheese due to allergies however they both came out with cheese and one of the ladies I was with started to instantly breakout in hives. Totally disappointed and should have read the reviews before choosing this place. Took a coworker for dinner and we both ordered the ribeye steak and asked for it to be cooked medium. When the meals arrived, both steaks were well over cooked. I pointed out to the waitress and advised that I would eat it, but that the cook should receive the feedback. After battling to chew the steak, I left half of it on my plate. The waitress eventually came back by and asked "how was everything?" She noticed the fact that half of my steak was uneaten, but showed little concern. Brought me the check (with no pen) and was not seen again before we left. Honestly I had high hopes for this place. I went with my friend we arrived a little before 8. The host was quick to seat us. About 20 minutes later our server Sebastian finally arrived at our table took our drink order. Another 20 minutes pass and still no drinks no water no nothing. Listen I understand if it's busy, a full house, people dancing everywhere, just chaos. But it was a Wednesday, full of empty tables, it was pretty slow and they had two bartenders. If you forgot about us just say that. We eventually decide to move to the bar where we waited another 10 minutes for a drink. And it wasn't even good! How're you gonna be called kabana and can't make a decent mijito? Don't get me started on the tacky uniforms. The only reason they got 2 stars is bc and the music was good. It had been at least 15 minutes we never saw her so we asked another waitress if we could place an order with her she said she couldn't take it or relay it but she would find the waitress. Another 5 minutes later she finally arrived so we ordered Ceviche and Bang Bang Shrimp. The fried shrimp took over 30 minutes to make and somehow the raw fish took almost 40. Once she finally brought it out she asked what else we needed. Which clearly we needed plates, napkins, and silverware however, we still had to ask. We waited 5 more minutes before asking a bus boy who proceeded to only bring three napkins when there were four of us. At the end when the manager asked us how it was we told him the truth (we didn't want or expect anything) but you could tell he didn't care at all as he made one excuse then said thanks for the input and walked away. It has been a few years since we had originally been and this visit confirmed why we will never be returning.
