Excellent food and service. I'm Pakistani and I typically don't frequent Indo-Pak restaurants. Even though the food isn't bad, it's not quite as good as I can cook it myself. I come from a family of good cooks. I don't always have time to cook what I want to eat. Kabob & Chutney Grill is my go-to now for those busy weeks. I order the family tray for 8-10ppl and some extras. My brother turned me onto them and he does the same. Much thanks to the chefs at Kabob & Chutney for keeping it traditional for us spoiled and picky Desis! P.S. I'm sharing a photo for this review. It includes Chapli Kabobs, chicken kabobs, chicken tikka and pakora. Beneath the meat is a nice salad with cucumber, onion, chili, etc., and rice. I have to use both forearms to carry the tray. Edit: After reading some reviews of ambiance and service, I feel the need to pipe up. I go to restaurants for the food. Although the ambiance isn't what you'd normally expect, I felt a bit of extra joy in it like I was a part of a small happy celebration. It's unique and I'm down with it. As far as service is concerned, I mindlessly left half of my takeout order there. Once i realized it, I called the restaurant and asked if I could pick it up the next day on my way home from work. I told them to just throw it in the fridge bc that's what I was going to do with it anyway. They insisted that I call when I'm 20min out and they'd make it fresh even though it was my fault (I work close but live far away). As far as freshness is concerned, I walked in and ordered a massive quantity of food (saved me food prep for a week -that's how much). I waited 1hr and it was piping hot when I got it. You don't wait 1hr for old and recycled food. Obviously everyone's mileage varies and I'm not here to invalidate other customer experiences. I'm just sharing my own. Ordered $60 worth of takeout -Chicken Biryani -Chicken Tikka Masala -Aloo Palak -Garlic Naan -Side of Rice The chicken biryani was an absolute disaster and quite possibly the worst I have ever eaten in my life. Pieces of flavorless boneless chicken chunks thrown in with rice. It is not biryani. No chutney, no raita, no salan. The chicken was so dry, we couldn't eat it. The picture is what we threw away. It gave the entire house stomach issues. 0/5 stars -Go to Curry Leaves in Rocklin Chicken Tikka Masala was super sweet with old chicken. The chicken was mushy like a baked potato. It's tikka masala, not tikka gulab jamun. I honestly think they served the chicken from the day old or longer buffet. Never again, more stomach issues. 0/5 stars -Go to Shalimar in Natomas Aloo Palak was edible but little to no flavor. 2/5 stars -Go anywhere else Garlic Naan was not garlic. It was plain with butter. 1/5 stars. -Go anywhere else I hate to leave this review, but if you have eaten at a quality Indian restaurant, cafe, chaat house, or even hole in the wall you would realize the overwhelming disappointment in flavor, preparation, pricing and commitment to quality. The kicker, guy that handed me the food said we are making it all fresh for you right now...these were leftovers from their buffet I suspect. Sad I had to post, would love a quality Indian option in the area, you will have to drive elsewhere. I challenge those that love this place to measure it against Trader Joe's frozen entree options. ¼ of the price, more flavor and tastes fresher...which is crazy for me to say, I know, but try it. I stumbled across this gem during lunch hour. They offered a choice of a buffet for $17.95 or a full menu with other options such as sandwiches, entrees, and other Indian, Pakistani, and Afghani dishes. We chose to get the buffet so we can sample them all. It was super flavorful and all you can eat. The dessert option on the buffet was a pudding of some sort (not great) but wishing it was a homemade sweet delicacy like rice pudding or gulab jaman. Service was very kind and friendly! The ambience was interestingly decorated as they host parties for wedding receptions or other large events. I had an allergic reaction from the spices; definitely a bit overwhelming for my system. But I don't mind. I can't deny the food is wonderful, but the ambiance leaves something to be longed for. Walking in had me scratching my head --why is the host stand all the way at the back? There's a lot of potential, yet the décor feels mismatched; a lopsided couch. Not quite the relaxed dining atmosphere I was hoping for! That said, the extensive menu features a wide variety of options! I was tempted by the buffet, although I noticed a few hygiene concerns--like the absence of sneeze guards at the hot bar. Now, onto the food! I indulged in chicken seekh kebab, chicken biryani, vegetable samosas, and garlic naan. The kebabs were a standout, bursting with juiciness and flavor! The samosas were equally satisfying.Yummy..... Really flavorful and affordable. Had the chicken tikka leg and thigh(it came out sizzling like a fajita) for 6$. A mountain of chicken biryani and a Chicken curry. Spicy but not overpowering, and the curry was rich and velvety. I haven't tried the buffet but I'm definitely gonna make return trips to try out the rest of the menu and the buffet. We are always looking for good restaurants when we come to Antelope to visit my Brother in Law. I think we finally found one that we will come back to next time we're in town! The food was delicious! Came here with some colleagues for my last day of work. We're a very diverse team and North Highlands is a very diverse community. We wanted to try something new so I yelped to see if there was a close Indian spot nearby and yes there was! We came on a Friday afternoon. They offered a buffet for $18. They had butter chicken, naan, tandoori chicken.. all the goods. I didn't order from buffet because I wanted to take mine home. I wish I had gotten pictures. This place is yummy! A little dead inside, but the vibes are good. Music is good and customer service overall is good. Would definitely recommend. My only complaint is the water because it taste like tap water. We ordered food from here for Thanksgiving, and I am very glad we did. First, I think ordering kabob from this place wasn't the best thing, because neither me, nor my husband enjoyed the kabob, and that's why I deducted a star, but now we get to the good part: the beryani. The beryani here is MUST TRY! it was so so so good, that I didn't even care that the kabob was not good. We had gotten both chicken beryani and mutton beryani. They were both so so so so good. I can't say enough about how good it was. the meat, and the rice were both cooked perfectly, but what did it for me, was the spice level. It was perfect! it was just the right amount of spicy, and it was so balanced. As far as which beryani to order, I can't even decide. I think the chicken was my favorite (and I'm picky with chicken so that says a lot that I loved it) but the mutton was my husband's favorite. Oh! BTW! the leftovers were somehow even more delicious, this place is definitely a must try, just have to order well. I can't wait to try them again soon. read more

The food tasted great and customer service was great. What i did not appreciate was the fact that we went to the buffet and my teenage son wanted to treat us well not knowing they had a table with dessert we asked if for everyone with buffet they said yes. When my son went to pay what was supposed to be $60 for 3 buffets was $85 because each item was individually priced on the dessert. Also they ran out of the meat that his friend enjoyed eating so he didn't get the full enjoyment of the buffet. This place is by far the best Indian food I've had. I had samosa, a samosa order that had chickpeas, red onions and I don't know what else. But it was amazing. I also got Aloo paratha (Hope I spelled that right) and it was also delicious. I will definitely go back. It took a while longer than the estimated time of order completion but well worth the wait. Both chicken dishes had mainly just flavored oil and meat. There was very little of anything else in the dishes. The mango lassi was watered down. But, the naans were good.
