So kabob-ster kind of annoys me because I've had such a variety of experiences there; they haven't been consistent in my experience. Going there is like getting produce at the grocery store: you might get some good stuff, you might not. You're kinda rolling the dice here. But today they did it RIGHT. The baba ghanouj had a nice, smoky eggplant flavor. The falafel in my wrap was cooked just like I like it: crunchy on the outside, seasoned goodness on the inside. The ratio of toppings was on point: not too many pickles, thinly sliced onion instead of huge clunky chunks, handful of shredded lettuce, nice globs of garlic sauce throughout. Every bite was a delight. The Greek salad was also good, although it didn't have any Kalamata olives on it. I'm not sure if their salads ever have it or if they just forgot to put some on mine. Usually, you your bread is pits bread but the flat bread is so much better. The decor is bland and it was warm inside. We came here on a whim because the pictures online looked really good and I'm a huge fan of Greek salad. It was a Saturday evening when we arrived there were three people waiting for food. They took our order very quickly but it took 45 minutes to get our (2) chicken and rice with salad meals. There was only one guy working the counter and cooking. That alone probably wasn't sanitary. But he was very confused on who ordered what and messed up every order in front of us. The food was cold when it came out and not very big. Pretty disappointed in this place. Man, I really like this place! I ate lunch here today and it was just so good. And the prices were too! I got the lunch basket where you pick 3 items for about $8.50 after tax. I wanted falafel x2 and hummus and it came with pita. I really wish it had come with more pita, but other than that the flavor was so good! The hummus and the falafel were delish! I visited this place about a year ago and was very pleased with the food especially the baklava so flaky and good and since I was back in the area felt very confident that this meal would not disappoint however it DID. I ordered the chicken kabob meal with rice and Greek salad. Well I was VERY disappointed at the chicken it was no more than pressed imitation chicken it was not at all like the meal in the past. The kabobs were great, the humus was good, but there was very little in the container. The falafel was awful. It was so, so dry and had zero taste. Okay so first let me apologize to everyone who loves this place. I'm from Dearborn MI which has the highest concentration of Middle Easterners. My tastebuds must be spoiled my the intricate delicacies available at just about every corner. I understand that with Covid -19 everything is carry out. There needs to be a better drive thru service or close the drive thru and just do walk-in carry out. I ordered Chicken Shawarma 1.2 of 10- The chicken was tough, dry, overcooked, overly salted, drowned in a soupy concoction. The meat wasn't grilled it was obviously boiled in what tasted like turmeric, salt and pepper bath. The lettuce was brown and wilted, the picked turnips were either canned or pickled incorrectly based on the lack of snap and bite. The tomatoes and pickles were good. The pita that the sandwich was wrapped in fell apart due to the amount of sauce that the chicken was in. 5-piece Falafel 1.3 of 10- They were served with garlic sauce and some vegetables for presentation. Visually appealing the flavor just was not there. I'm a fan of overcooking falafel because they get crunchy and delicious and if made properly stay moist on the inside. These were not that. They lacked flavor almost as if they were purchased frozen or were made from a prepackaged mix and over worked. Despite that I attempted to eat them with the garlic sauce. Bad idea, the sauce was bitter and tasted like sour cream. Service 3.2 of of 10- There was a very long wait time and I understand that the drive thru may have been a temporary service but both were very poorly executed. The gentleman who helped via the drive thru was pleasant and helpful and offered menus thru the window to help. Overall score 1.9 of 10 It wasn't the fact the the food wasn't authentic. It was the lack of heart, soul and pride. The chef behind these dishes has lost their way. They've forgotten to love the food they make. My message to the chef is simple, slow down breathe remind yourself of the wonders you're capable of. Bring that life to the table. I would like to try this place again. read more

It was a time for my friends -all wonderful school moms-to get together. And I always try to find something special and interesting for us to do and to try. This time I really wanted to introduce my friends to Turkish food. This place is not big. Inside of the restaurant I did not feel the atmosphere of Middle East. The guy that took our order did not want to be there it was obvious he was irritated we were even there. (Fun facts, the chefs that are responsible of providing mouth tasting authentic Middle Eastern deliciousness are from Iraq & Morocco) Looking at the menu, Kabob-ster accommodates to almost everyone's dietary needs. From the carnivores to the vegans. Everything is made from scratch AND the ingredients are fresh. Let's start with the bread. If you're like me and love their bread, you would agree that it is quite tasty and fresh. The bread is baked onsite in their tandoor oven. The bread is great for dipping into hummus, baba ganoush, taziki or tahini. The falafel is spiced very well and it's very flavorful, which I love. I am a vegetarian and oftentimes vegan but also can be carnivores once in a blue moon (Yes, it's complicated). At Kabob-ster, I ordered a sampler platter or the "pick 3" and I also got the shaved lamb gyro. (disclaimer: I didn't grow up always being a vegetarian). I will say, the lamb I had here will go down as some of the best I've ever had state side. For dessert, their baklava was quite rich! As I mentioned before, this restaurant, from their simply Middle Eastern decorations to their foods, it's designed to bring a taste of authentic deliciousness. Great culture. Great staffs and from my time there, I did not notice it being too busy or a customer have long wait time. I love Greek/Mediterranean food so I had this place bookmarked for awhile and I found myself in this area with time to kill. It isn't super cheap but you get a lot of food for the money. I got the gyro plate with three sides that automatically comes with naan bread. Yes please. I like hummus but love babaghanouj so I went for that. If you don't know, it is an eggplant dip. You would have no idea that is truly what it is if you haven't had it or made it before. I also got the Greek salad and falafel. The falafel was coated with something that stuck to my fingers so I used a fork after that. Good and crispy and especially good in the sauce. I can't tell what the sauce is, maybe hummus with some other stuff added? Ok I see now they call it tahini sauce which happens to go into hummus. The meat was very tender and more in rectangular strips than the flat strips I am used to. Whatever it is good. Comes with a small container of taziki. Greek salad is a nice romaine salad with tomatoes, olives, cucumbers and what seems like house made feta ladened dressing. I will definitely come back if in the area. Zabiha halal! This is one of the very few locations that's zabiha in this area. I loved the food and so did all my friends. The gyros was delicious make sure you ask for extra tziki sauce! The appetizers were just okay. They have a glass you can look through into the kitchen in case you want to check if everything is sanitary. The inside is simple, nothing too fancy. This is not close to the downtown area so you have to make a short drive. But it's worth it! read more

While some of our favorite restaurants have restricted their menus during the pandemic (and that's understandable) and have also had quality issues even so, it's wonderful that Kabobster doesn't seem to have restricted their menu - and their quality has remained outstanding! We've had the Gyro platter, the Kufta platter, the Shawarma platter, and various side items like the Stuffed Grape Leaves (which I especially enjoy because they are not vinegary like most other places, but rather savory). We just moved here. Last night was thanksgiving, and we drank a little much. So now this morning we got the hangover munchies. I ran into this place. They were closed, but the guy working came to the door and talked with me. I returned when they opened, and got a few gyros, a schwarma, and some other tasty meat treats I've never had before. Was in town on a business trip and as always, had to find the cleanest/healthiest food option! About half way through my trip, I discovered this spot. I went 3 days in a row, and all three times I went with the chicken skewer meal with hummus and rice. Pita is included. My first and third visits I would give a 5. My 2nd visit I give a 3. The chicken was dry. (I'm guessing it was already cooked and placed on a warmer.) The 3 young staff members there I interacted with were super friendly. The lady I presume to be the owner wasn't so friendly. I saw her walking around and she never spoke to me which was a little rude. All in all, I recommend it if you're looking for a healthy food option while in Chattanooga! read more
