I love Ammer's! It adds diversity to Calhoun. The inside is clean and the place is kind of big. The Mediterranean food is delicious with huge portions for a fair price. It was very fresh! My favorite meal is the chicken and steak with rice. It comes with dipping sauce, rice, falafel, hummus, and a fresh vegetable salad. They offer a buffet with a big selection of Country and Mediterranean food. The buffet itself is awesome. The location is not far from the exit on 53 with plenty of parking. I like that Ameer's is not a corporate chain. the owner and his son have been there each time we have gone it and have been very helpful and friendly. Best in Calhoun!!! Yummy! I know this place may seem foreign to many of the locals, but you really must try the shawarma plates and the kebabs. When traveling it's always nice to fine a delicious tasting place to stop that's clean and friendly. They had vegan options. They also have outside eating too. I like to find healthy places to eat and Mediterranean food is at top of my list. I was actually going to pop in Checkers for a quick fish sandwich and fries, but saw Ameer's signage and pulled around. I was met promptly by a smiling cashier and then Ameer came to the counter. I ordered the combo #1 with all beef and sat down. In just a few short minutes I was served the beautiful food you see in the picture. Everything was fresh, the meat was tender and cooked perfectly. The pita bread was nice and hot. Moving on the the falafel, it is the best I've ever eaten. Most falafel is dense and tasteless. This was moist and you could taste all the herbs and seasoning. The hummus was not gritty one bit. It was incredibly smooth. The fresh vegetables made a nice accoutrement to this meal. If you are visiting or driving through Calhoun, this is a must eat restaurant! Ameer's is a delightful surprise in this area. We were traveling passing through and did not want the same old fast food unhealthy choices. As soon as we saw his Mediterranean menu we had to try it. The food was right on! We had the mixed grill and beet salad. True to its roots but adjusted a little for American taste. For example the Kofta kebab was not as spicy as I am used to. I would know as I am from the area of origin. The service was pleasant and delightful. The owner came to greet us and it is pleasant talking to him. It is a perfect stop off of exit 312 on I-75. Rebecca was very helpful and caring. She met us at the door and told us that they were closed but I told her that we spoke to the owner Sami thru yelp msgs and he said that they were open until 10, it was only 9:23 pm. She told me that they had 2 locations and that the other location closed at 10 but this one closed at 9. She immediately apologized for the misunderstanding and offered us a few things that were still available. Zyad was in the back and prepared our order and came out to speak with us also. They were very appreciative of our business and we thanked them for taking care of us even after they closed. We had the lamb shank and it came with salad, bread and veggies. We also got some falafel with baba ganoush. It was all fresh and tasted excellent! The meat was tender and seasoned perfectly, the salad was fresh and crisp. We had chicken kabob & chicken schitzel. It was all so good. The kabobs came with dipping sauce -- either garlic which was especially good & tzatiki. Also on the combination plate was felafel which was really good. Actually the entire meal was delicious, the service was good & friendly. We came here for my brother's birthday dinner, and decided to do the buffet. All of the people who worked there were kind, especially the (probably) owner! The food options were a mix of American and Mediterranean and all of the things I tried, (Fried chicken, macaroni, fries, banana pudding, and cranberry sauce), were all pretty good, though the food was a bit cold to my liking. One thing that I'd like to point out is the Banana pudding, it tasted very different to 'typical' banana pudding, but it was a very pleasant taste! The falafel and hummus were perfect. The pita was light and fluffy. However; the baba ganoush, not so much. I don't think there was any tahini in the baba ganoush. It wasn't creamy at all, but the flavor was fine. The tabouli had large diced onion which I did not care for. The dice was way too big. My son had the beef and lamb shawarma which he devoured and loved every bite. The lentil soup wasn't very flavorful. The baklava was old. The filo had no crispiness at all. I tried combo #1, but wish I had just went with the chicken only, which tasted yummy and was tender. The beef was tender too and accentuated by the sweet sauce that was served on the side. I've been trying to deal with these guys for two weeks now. They charged me twice for my order. The original order was placed via Yelp/ Grubhub. But when I picked it up, the owner said the Grubhub charge had not gone through, and I needed to pay again. Then I got home and found I was charged twice. The owner seemed willing to help, but after providing him with all documentation that I was charged twice, he stopped responding or answering my calls. This is so dishonest! What else is he up to? Amazing! Love this place. And in Calhoun?!?!? So glad there is something more than BBQ and Mexican. Yay! The service was great. The restaurant was clean and felt new. It was not freezing, like so many other places (thank you). Friendliest server and owner (thank you!). This place is a little hidden, just off the main drag by one building, but basically right across the street from Starbucks. Now the food: ummmm...This foodie is in love! The falafel was fresh. The sauces were delish. The Lebanese salad was perfect. The pita bread was fluffy and thick (best ever!). The baklava was completely moist and easy to eat. At other places baklava is served too cold and you need a knife to eat it. Not here, the baklava was soft! We drove quite a distance to get here...and we will again...soon! read more

Excellent service and food! The shrimp was a tad salty but overall the food was amazingly fresh and delicious. My husband had the fried snapper and it was a whole fish!
