Bacon, Egg, Cheese with Potatoes
Kate H.

I enjoy the food trucks at work because they save me from the dreadfully monotonous salad bar. Having said that, I hate dropping $16 for an item that includes paper/plastic dinnerware, no water, and I have to stand the whole time. Ok. Rant over. Kabomellette is great. Great food. Great service. Great value. I spent $8 on this giant egg, bacon, potato meal. I appreciate how quickly they were able to move the line through without sacrificing on quality. I had my eye on the Thai peanut chicken kabob so i guess I'll just have to try that next time!

Forewarning: This is a CATERING review. I blindly booked the Kabomelette food truck in late June for my wedding celebration in late August. I emailed back and forth with Chelsea for a couple week while we got everything figured out. First and foremost, Chelsea rocks and is super pleasant; and I am really grateful that she was so easy to talk to and was okay communicating via email because I am on my computer all day at work and it's just easier - plus I am super anti-social and I hate phone calls, lol. I checked out their catering menu and was able to freely put together a menu of my liking and she helped me figure out if that would be a sufficient amount for my guests. They even let me print my own menu with a funny picture of me and my husband and slap it on their truck. Fast forward to the day of the party, Chef Greg and [insert the other guy's name I totally forgot!] arrived right on time an hour before start time as promised and got to work prepping in their truck. They rolled their window open just a couple minutes past 7pm and people started getting in line! With just under 60 people they were steadily busy until closing up shop and it seems like we ordered perfectly because we didn't have much leftover aside from one item that people were a little too scared to try (Prosciutto & Cantaloupe - come on people! Get with the program!). All night long I heard people say how awesome the food was and how much fun they had ordering off of the truck - and that the guys were super awesome. Everyone just had the best time! Here's what we had on our menu: Caprese Kabobs Loaded Potato Skins Goat Cheese Blackberry Crisps Zucchini Pizza Bites Prosciutto Cantaloupe Kabobs Caramelized Onion Wontons Thai Peanut Chicken Kabobs Vegetable Crudite Chicken and Waffle Bites Honey Chipotle Beef Kabobs Steak & Blue Cheese Bites Hot tip: If you are the bride or you are throwing the party, make sure you carve some time out for yourself to eat! I got to try a few things but wish I would have sat down and ordered "The Chefs Special" aka: Everything on the menu. My favorite items were the Caramelized Onion Wontons and the Steak and Blue Cheese Bites. YUM! The only thing I wasn't crazy about, surprisingly, were the Chicken and Waffle Bites - I am glad I didn't double up on the order like I had almost done, lol. The waffles were a bit hard and the chicken wasn't quite what I was expecting (more like nuggets vs. fried chicken). I would not hesitate booking them again - in fact, I want to plan another party just so I can book them again! lol Food truck is definitely the way to go - - the guests all had so much fun "ordering" what they wanted and not having to pay. I don't know why but it just makes things better - people love free stuff and giving them a whole MENU of free stuff? Well, you've got the best party around! Thanks, Kabomlette! Can't wait to see y'all again - and I'll be sure to hunt you down to try your regular menu - I need some omelettes in my life!

Fiesta omelette-3 egg omlette, chorizo, black beans, corn, cheese, with pico di gallo (sriracha optional)

There are different kinds of bargains out there. Sometimes you find something you have been looking at for quite some time and see that the price has dropped. Sometimes a "bargain" is just some junk that while it doesn't cost much you really have no place buying it because it costs next to nothing. Kabomelette is the best type of bargain - something really good for a really good price. I ordered the fiesta omelette, a three egg omelette with chorizo, corn, black beans, cheese and pico. Service was quick and the food was extremely fresh and delicious. One omelette filled me up and at a price tag of $5 it was a true bargain. I will not hesitate to track down Kabomelette again, whether at the Midtown Farmer market or the Golden Valley Farmer market or wherever they might show up. Delicious, fast food with quick and pleasant service will bring me back.

We were at Northgate Brewing and getting hungry. The food truck of the day was the Kabomelette. It was a done deal before we even saw the menu. Two items were ordered, a kabob and nachos. The Spicy Jerk Kabob was not your usual Minnesota nice spice. This thing took a top layer of your tongue to a flame thrower, then sprinkled it with tacks. Yeah, I loved it! It's not for all though. The rice and cucumbers they added with it were a nice distraction to the heat, but did little to quench it. The Fiesta Nachos were good, so here's my NACHO BREAKDOWN! Chips: Not different from any kind you would get from the grocery store. plenty of them and they stayed crisp. Cheese: I saw real cheese on it when I dug down into it, but the taste was very Velveeta like. The jury's still out on this, but it tasted good on my burnt drunken tongue. Fresh Toppings: Yes, black olives & corn/tomatoes from the fresh salsa. Not enough for all the chips however. Near the end, we were using the rice from the kabob as toppings for the chips. Overall, they did a decent job and I liked the food. If I had to make a decision on the nachos, I'd have to say these are some of the better ones I've had from a food truck.

Thai peanut kabob

This was at Grand Old Day and I have been wanting one of their omelettes! However, the menu was only Kabobs. That's ok. I love kabobs. why doesn't? Plus it's a generally healthier option related to everything else that was at Grand Old Day (cheese curds, corn dogs, french fries, etc). I asked the guy what was better- jerk chicken or Thai peanut? Without hesitation he told me he loves the Thai peanut. Sold. The kabob was given to me immediately and it was delicious and only $6. I will come here next time I see this truck!

The restaurant is quite large and super cute. We were greeted and seated right away. The walls have fun little things written in chalk and it is very bright and cheery inside. We received the menu and waited a bit before our order was taken. We did not need to wait long for our food to arrive. My daughter and I ordered the same thing with slight variations--Two Eggs, Potatoes, and Toast. I chose the Hen Potatoes which were amazing! Tender on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside--not greasy at all. My daughter had the hash browns, which were just as good--not greasy, but perfectly crisp and flavorful. The seven grain toast and jam were great and our scrambled eggs were cooked just how we like. My daughter also ordered a fruit cup, which was filled with a bigger variety of fruit than she expected and she loved it. I ordered a side of bacon and it was delicious. While the food wowed us, our service was just okay. She was polite enough, but did not check on us until we were well into our meal. Thankfully, we didn't need anything. Our check and my payment were dealt with promptly, which we appreciated. We also ordered a caramel roll to go and were very glad we did. Super tasty and not overly sweet. If you are in the area, stop in. You will not regret it. The prices are higher, but it is worth every penny. We will definitely be returning when we are in the area.

This time our family tried the 5th Avenue Minneapolis location right across from Twins Stadium. Quick tip, park in the garage facing the restaurant on the left side. It's an easy elevator ride up and the signage makes it simple. Matt was our server and did an outstanding job. Great service always makes a difference. Beverage options were excellent too, stuff for everyone, mimosas, specialty coffee drinks, and really solid drip coffee. The menu has a great balance of savory and sweet, so naturally we tried both. We had the breakfast sandwich with sausage, a BLT on a croissant, biscuits and gravy, pancakes with fruit, and a croissant-waffle fusion with lemon and sweet cream. Honestly, everything was delicious. What I appreciate most is the atmosphere. These restaurants just feel comfortable, welcoming, and easy to enjoy with family or friends. I'm excited they're coming to Maple Grove, but I'll still keep visiting the St. Paul, St. Louis Park, and Minneapolis locations too because I want to see our cities and local businesses thrive.

Cozy Hmong-American restaurant with French-influenced pastries? Count me in! I literally updated my destination to this restaurant while in the uber and decided to grab a bit of food before heading to my hotel. I had no reservation, but arriving a little after 1 pm on a Monday had no wait for a bar seat. It's such a cozy, homey restaurant with light wood, light brick, natural light, few plants inside and a very casual patio with picnic tables outside. I could see this place being a tough reservation during peak times. I hadn't eaten all day and was extremely hungry. I opted for the king crab omelette with red curry beurre blanc. I got a side of sticky rice to make it slightly heartier since I was so hungry and got some pastries to go, since I was in a bit of a time crunch to make it to my hotel and take some work calls. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. My server really did Minneapolis proud, chatted with me about my trip, gave me other great goodie recommendations to fill out my dining for the week, and overall really made the visit special. The crab omelette was unreal. Simultaneously fresh, light, but with a hint of kick and richness from the red curry beurre blanc. Excellent flavor combo. I got the crab Rangoon danish and the coconut pandas croissant to go and ate them for breakfast the next day and they were still so light and fresh with unreal flavor combos. The pandan was my favorite and I tend to be a savory over sweet pastry girl. This place is deserving of all of its hype and more. I honestly really wanted to go back and asked if I could try to sneak in a reservation to come again for later in the week, but sadly they are when I was free the rest of the time I was in town. Absolutely scheming to come back to Minneapolis just to eat here again!

Overall, the service and lack of attention to detail really took away from the experience.
