    Fish & Chips

BIRTHDAY LUNCH! We sat at the bar as usual. Our bartenders were just wonderful. All the staff is regularly pleasant. The ambiance was chill, and is was bustling. The Fish & Chips were disappointing as there was barely any fish. Last time there was much more fish. Ordering a turkey burger is hit or miss everywhere. Difficult to find a juicy one. Unfortunately, it was a tad dry, but mayo helped. Nice Place

Tried this location for Saturday morning/noon bingo recently. I didn't realize each Lucky's location handles their bingo a little differently - was surprised that it cost $24 to play which was a bit pricey. My friends and I are used to buying 2 sets of cards to play but at this rate, we couldn't justify it. The payouts were different (lower) and the final blackout game card had a different approach. Bingo aside, I enjoyed the food and ambiance. The Cajun breakfast hash is substantial and delicious. Plump, large, juicy shrimp with chopped sausage and chicken. My only criticism is the bad tasting chicken - maybe this was an off day but the chicken that came with this dish tasted old and rubbery. Everything else about the breakfast hash was on point in terms of flavor. Easily makes 2 meals!

Lucky's is great and I always question why I don't come here more often. They have great bang bang shrimp, FYI. This time I tried the buffalo chicken sandwich after it was recommended by our server, Justin. He was right. It was coated enough in buffalo sauce - some places really slack on the sauce. They top the sandwich with diced celery and cold lettuce. Pair that with the warm buffalo sandwich, and it just hits - it hits hard. Fries were hot and made for a great experience.

Every time I come here I have a blast! Food is great free popcorn and huge portions! Let's also talk about good Pulltabs!

This was our first time here. Love the popcorn they bring to the table! Fish was good, fries were meh. Cookie brownie combo skillet was glorious!

Chain divey spot is one of my least favorite combos. I have to admit the pizza rolls were kinda tasty in a very chain specialty frenkenfood sort of way. Fries were a bit soggy right away and I can tell the beer lines don't get cleaned very often right off the bat. At least it isn't bright and it's fairly comfortable and the server was pleasant and had recommendations.

I tend not to review chain restaurants but with football season back in flight, here we go lol... I haven't been in a luckys in years and the one in Roseville (been twice) has the best service hands down. I wish I could recall our servers name, she was amazing. Came in for Thursday night football kickoff, I'll say, they prob have an opportunity to replace some TVs, I think half of them were dark and shadowy (backlight issue). From a snack standpoint, their popcorn was on point. Perfect saltiness and solid flavor. For actual food, ordered the Smoked Turkey and Gouda Sandwich with bacon, guacamole, tomato, chipotle aioli and ciabatta bun which was pretty solid. The happy hour special of domestic beers for 14 ounce - $3 and 22 ounce - $5 is hard to beat around town.

Food grilled to perfection with amazing seasoning and a welcoming environment that you can dress up or down in. There is a complimentary popcorn machine while you wait, at your table, bar, etc., a window of where the food is prepared where you can see all the grilling and cooking live in action plus pull tabs which add to the fun atmosphere. The service is phenomenal and there are plenty of spots to enjoy your meal at. My favorite dishes are the Hawaiian and Monte Cristo sandwich paired with a flavored lemonade. Don't let the kettle chips slip you by as it's so easy to order tater tots or fries but the chips are seasoned so well - yum! The half-order of nachos is the size of two football fields so be prepared and the fried pickles are delicious paired with ranch. On this visit, I won $100 in pull tabs. Talk about a great experience overall. Enjoy!!

We were in the area for some holiday shopping and decided to grab lunch here. It's a really attractive space--the attention to detail on the decor was impressive. Service was friendly, and we loved the popcorn that came out to the table while we looked over the menu. As other reviews have said, this is mostly pub fare--there are lots of options from the fryer, along with soups, salads, and burgers/sandwiches. The vegetarian options were somewhat limited, but I went with the black bean burger and enjoyed its heat level. The lettuce and tomatoes on top were ultra-fresh, and they were super generous with the guacamole. The coleslaw is A+. Expect generous portions, straightforward food, and a space that is conducive to conversation--it's not too loud, even when there are a lot of guests.

    Fresh and tasty popcorn.

Our server was super nice and even gave us a discount for giving us the wrong food before we needed to mentioned it. I got the salted Carmel and brownie malt. They kinda lacked the brownie but was still good taste overall. Appetizer: Cheese curds were decent, not super strong flavor but not oily and decent portion. Side of onion rings were pretty good. Again not strong flavor but made well. Upcharge $2 (service didn't mention) Atmosphere: Kinda loud because it's a smaller restaurant and harder to hear the person across from you. Nice older classic decor and look. Been there since 1986. Unfortunately the entree food was not good... Disappointed on the California Burger. Had no flavor. The tomato was bland and soggy, the meat had no seasoning or flavor. The avocado was dull and tasteless, Only good part on it was the lettuce. My boyfriend order the turkey club but didn't get that, the server knew it was the wrong order but still brought it to us. My bf didn't want to say anything, and the server said he took something off the bill (which we thought meant took the sandwich off, but gave us $9 off the bill) Overall. It was a decent, the appetizer, and malts are nice. But I wouldn't go there for the entrees.

We still enjoyed our time and will absolutely be back to try more items on the menu.

Being a breakfast aficionado, I have no idea why it took me so long to get to Al's. My husband, who is out of the house a lot more than me, has been there several times. He has been trying to get me to go there for months. And finally we made it in February. At the time, with all the political things going on in Minneapolis, Yelp actually told me I could not write a review at the time. So I am glad now that I can come back and leave this five-star for them. So as many have said, Al's is about as old school diner as you can get. One line of stools, 14 seats or something like that. Just like Matt's Bar, there's an impossibly tiny grill and the chef makes the most amazing things on it! My husband adores the wally blues pancakes. I do think they are super tasty. They have nuts and berries and are just about the most tasty pancake you've ever had. Get one to share even if you order something else. He got the corned beef hash, which looked like basically everything you would ever want that dish to be. I got the classic benedict (the dish by which I judge all breakfast places). It was SO GOOD. It's an english muffin and a big thick slice of ham, plus the perfectly poached eggs. But the real true thing that makes this dish just baller is the generous helping of hollandaise sauce. Thick and luscious and seriously the most lemony hollandaise I have ever ever tasted. It was so good. I tried to be a lady but eventually was just sticking my finger in the leftover sauce and licking it like a toddler. I would have seriously licked the plate. The guy behind the counter smiled and said, "Yeah, our hollandaise sauce will ruin you." And he was right. Can't wait to go back for another helping. Cash only, no bathroom, street parking. Come prepared. We happened to go close to the 1 p.m. closing time and didn't have to wait at all. Pro tip.

Went right at open, 6am, and the place (10 seats) was already mostly full. It's about as old-timey diner as you can get. Wood paneling, cash only, watching the line cooks work, and a-la-carte menu. Everyone was friendly and I love the inclusive, anti-ice vibe. Unfortunately that's kind of where the highlights end and mediocrity begins. I would describe everything as "fine" but that may be partially due to my pancake preferences. They were definitely the dense and, well, slightly gummy pancakes I don't really like. That's opposite the crispy, lacy ones at Al's and fluffy buttermilk ones at Our Kitchen. Not to mention it's like $3/oz for actual maple syrup. My partner got an egg, sausage, toast meal and it is what says on the tin. I think it's good, and I love the community support from management, but definitely riding the "institutional" status for business. I think I'd prefer Al's if in the area and Our Kitchen if South.

I just expect a bit more if I am going to drop $70 for two lunch entrees and two drinks. Not including the tip. Bottom line: I would not go back for this very expensive diner that doesn't know how to properly cook simple things. Or chop veg. Or make a drink.

The menus appear to be the same, the spaces are large enough to accommodate big crowds, the service is efficient and friendly, and the food is consistent. The open layout is appealing and fits the "classic diner" vibe perfectly. The other thing they share is HUGE portions. For example, my wife ordered the "short stack with bacon." It sounds innocent enough, but the pancakes are the size of hubcaps and stuffed with what feels like a bushel of blueberries. That's not a bad thing, but my wife ended up taking home about 3/4 of it--which turned into several more breakfasts! By the way, the pancakes were incredibly fluffy and flavorful. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. Again, it was a massive portion, but I heroically finished it all. The mashed potatoes seemed scratch-made and the gravy was plentiful. I liked the turkey, though I'm not entirely sure it was roasted in-house. The menu says "real turkey," and while I'm sure that's true, as a bit of a turkey fanatic, the flavor was just slightly different than what I'm used to. Regardless, I really enjoyed it. Fat Nat's clearly has their act together; all three locations are remarkably consistent. For a hearty breakfast or lunch, this place is highly recommended. Pro Tip: Be careful with what children or grandchildren order.
