I recently picked up some bread from this location after being assured by the staff that it was baked fresh daily. Unfortunately, after getting home, it was very evident that two-day-old bread had been mixed in with the fresh loaves. Anyone familiar with baked goods can easily tell the difference in texture and quality. Frankly, I would much rather pay a higher price--even $4 or $5 per loaf--for guaranteed freshness than pay $3.50 for a compromised product. Suggestion for the business: Consider moving the bread display to the customer area so guests can select their own loaves. This would eliminate transparency issues and ensure customers get exactly what they expect. I hope management addresses this quality control issue. read more

I've been getting their chicken wrap every week lately and it never disappoints. It's super flavorful and honestly one of the best wraps in the area. Their kabobs are really good too and made fresh on the grill. The workers are always friendly too. Definitely recommend this place. read more

The chicken halal New York style- that dish itself was pretty good, but the salad was surprisingly brown/wilted/a bit slimy so that was tossed in the trash can. trash...food does not taste good..they raised the prices and cut down on food portions. Used to get 2 skewers of chicken or shami kabobs and now they made the portions smaller with only 1 skewer..waste of money. Salad with your food is just pieces of lettuce with nothing on it. The food was awful and then after I put a review, the manager wants to come on here and lie and tell me that I was lying that the food was not cold. It was ice cold. Flavorless meat that they covered with the sauce that was barely OK and soggy lettuce. He needs to do his homework. This place is a one star restaurant and looks nothing like the old pictures that I could see. They have stacked so much crap like a hoarder above their rotten meat. Come to the bay and check out some real places like falafel flame. In your area, Yaffa hummus is better than Azar. We calked at 12pm today 10/19/2025 and olaced an order for an afghan/chicken pizza for pick up at 330 and said yes confirmed for the pick up time at 330. we arrived at 340pm, and the cashier said that its not ready yet. He said that the dough was made at 330 pm and we have to wait another 30 minutes! wow!!! Maybe, they ahould have informed us that during our initial call order and not show ip at your store and expecting that our pizza is done! So sorry but you lost a customer today. read more

I really hate updating reviews and deducting stars but I have to keep it real and sadly Azhar has taken a nose dive this last year. It used to be great but since I stopped seeing the younger guy (owner) here things have just not been as good. - Meat counter. The quality has deteriorated to the point we had to throw many of our purchases away and we recently found that when we ordered 10lb of ground meat we actually only got just over 8lb due to the weight of the packaging. You dont charge for the weight of the packaging. - Food quality is also sub par where it used to be great. We noticed it declining earlier this year and on our last visit I couldn't even eat it. My Shami Kabob was a pile of mush that looked more like Dog food and when I said something to the cashier the Cook shouted out from the Kitchen and was incredibly rude. He actually said that he dropped the Kabob which is why it was mushy but still ok to eat. Uh.. no. The store still has a good selection of items although I have noticed a number of price increases. Unless they do something about the food quality though I doubt I'll be eating from here again. read more

I come here for the halal chicken breast and lamb &goat. My go too market for meat. They cut them as well. As for the grill I recommend the lamb curry, goat biryanis, chicken tikka with the Afghan naan. Delicious! Feeds a family of two depending on your portions! Delicious. read more

I went to Azhar market and restaurant one of the best restaurant and market in Tracy, excellent service, very polite stuff and provide the best fresh kabobs and foods. Called ahead placed an order, arrived about 25 minutes later told the guy in the kitchen my name. He tells me" they are closed come back tomorrow lol." I was shocked so I repeated myself so did he. I stood there for a minute. another guy...asks me if he can help. I asked if the phone number that I called is correct. He tells me " he doesn't know the number." I was like WTF is going on here. Then I walked up to the cashier and spoke to another guy. He tells me" they have your order give me a minute." I thought to myself okay at least we are getting somewhere. 25 mins later they say my food is ready! So we waited 50 mins in total for a takeout order! Got home, I opened the food up, kabobs were burned and Biryani had a ton of oil in it. I chucked the food in the garbage and made myself an omelette. This place maybe be under new management but they have lost their commitment to quality and making good food. So I encourage others to take their business elsewhere! read more

It is sad that this is one of only 2 places for halal meat. Neither are good and have absolutely horrible hygiene practices. I have no idea how health inspectors go through this store and give a pass. Beyond that, the cross contamination of meat is just mind boggling. Absolutely zero regard to what is being cut where, any thought to changing gloves when handling different types of meat, or just common sense in general. Yesterday as I was buying meat, I saw live and dead flies inside the meat cooler unit. Forget the lack of customer service, the always pissed off looking employees, or the lack of basic butchering skills...if you're buying any sort of meat here, I advise you to look elsewhere or thoroughly inspect what you buy. I have once made the mistake of buying meat from them that turned out to be days old. Yesterday's trip was my absolute last trip to buy anything from this store not commercially packaged. read more

So for people expecting a traditional grocery store like Vons or similar this is not your place... ya this place could be more organized but they have so many traditional ingredients that Vons or other American groceries dont. So if you're looking to support local businesses and willing to put up with some mess and not your traditional customer service then this is the place for you.... The bolani was outstanding however the chicken kabob was totally raw inside and seasoned well. The rice was also half cooked. The most important was the general condition of the restaurant that was terrible. It is a small area but good for at least four tables. But it's disorganized and very dirty. My husband and I were hungry and wanted to set there and eat but we couldn't tolerate the to set on dust full table in an disorganized place and eat. We rather took out food and eat in our car. We ate bolani but discard the chicken kebab. I hope they think about these points because their price is the same as the high standard Afghan restaurants. read more

Purchase experience was okay, beef looked days old but not like something that I would not buy. After all it really seems impossible to find fresh (24hrs) meat in the entire bay area. (If someone knows of a good source of halal meat, please DM me) When I opened up the bag, I realized the beef was older than what I thought it was. Seems like they dressed it up with added blood to make it look fresh when it was on the display. I requested to have them cut into small pieces. They guy asked 'Biriani size?', which I replied to 'yes'. I bought about 13 pounds of beef. Half of the meat were cut in to right size but the rest were left in huge chunks! I cant cut these bones at home See the photos attached how huge and pale they are! I'll be looking for alternatives when I shop for fresh beef for sure. read more

The food is great, that is why i will continue to come back. Heres my experience I call ahead of time, wait 30 minutes...I get there and find out that the lady that took my order didn't let the cook know...I wait an additional 20 minutes before recieving my food. They cause an inconvenience and give you attitude. The lady in the kitchen seem nicer than the lady running the register. My previous visit, i waited 20 minutes before heading to the store and waited an additional 40 minutes before getting my food. Mind you, the store is not busy. Atleast the men taking care of my order apologized and showed great customer service. Other than that food is good, but expect to wait 45mins-1 hour everytime. I had heard a lot of people talk about this place, so decided to give them a try. What a waste of time, money, and gas. The place stinks, no greeting. The cashier lady is rude and was constantly on her phone via her EarPods. She was also fighting with the people cooking food in front of all the customers. What kind of place is this??? The guy making naan bread told me it would be 10 mins so I said I'll wait. Was handed my bread 35 minutes later, and he kept making and giving bread to all the other Afghan customers who came and ordered after me. Never going back here ever again! Save your time and money.
