    Navajo Taco

It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I came here because it was close to where I had an appointment. I had missed both breakfast and lunch and so I figured I would get something quick. I saw Kachina Kitchen, and decided to give it a try. The service was friendly and quick. The place is a quiet place with many booths. I tried the Navajo taco and an order of fries. I loved the shoestring fries but the Navajo taco wasn't the best. It looked like it was going to be delicious but I feel it was a bit bland on the flavor. It wasn't horrible but really needs more spices. This is an okay place. Maybe their other plates will be better.

Definitely I agree with the other poster who says to ignore their reviews from several years ago. Ordered three Carne out of Ada Navajo tacos tonight and they were fantastic. Realize that this is kind of a hole in the wall kind of Mexican diner so it's not like every ingredient is top notch. For instance the cheese is nacho cheese like you get at a movie theater but it was still delicious and we really enjoyed them and the auto Votto was flavorful and spicy. Would come back in an instant.

I've never had rice like this before. Interesting stop to say the least. Don't expect real Mexican food I guess is all I can say about it

Quick friendly walk-up to the counter service. Not fancy but clean and very tasty. Ignore those old posts.

Best food yet! Been in Durango for 3 days and been very disappointed with downtown food but this was fresh and hot!

Left Durango 20 years ago and I still crave a Navajo taco from here. Need to get back soon.

My husband and I enjoyed the Navajo Taco. It was served hot. Just wish it had more meat in it. The diner was clean. Would it here again.

The food tasted like cheap carnival fare. It was highly processed and tasteless. We went on a local's recommendation and were disappointed.

One of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at. With so many good choices in Durango avoid this establishment at all costs.

The service? Dialed in. Attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful when navigating their very tempting margarita menu. I went all in with both the Mamasita and Papasita...no regrets. Creative, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to sip. Chips came out warm and freshly fried (always a good sign), and the sizzling queso hit that perfect salty, melty note you hope for but don't always get. The avocado stuffed with shrimp starter was a standout: fresh, colorful, and a nice lighter contrast before diving into the mains. And speaking of mains... the Seafood Diablo absolutely delivered. Packed with shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid, and finished with just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the flavors. If you're in Durango and want something that's a little more lively than the usual lineup, this place brings both personality and flavor. Definitely worth a stop.

Just a quick heads-up: If you're not from the West, the salsa will likely be a little spicier than you're used to. Ours was. There was also a slaw "salsa" served that we were unaccustomed to, but it was a good change of pace. My only regret - not getting a margarita because we were driving.

If you are a lover of well done birria, this is your place. Craving authentic Mexican food? Yep, this is your place. We started with their chips and salsa. I think you can tell a lot by the salsa at a place. Lemme just say, I was so very happy! Their salsa wasn't too chunky, not too thin and they are not afraid to season and add some heat - but hey, don't worry it wasn't too hot if you've got a dad like mine who isn't a fan of "too much spice." Such a good omen. I couldn't decide which marg to try so ordered a flight. Best decision ever. Even as I write this, I'm still hard pressed to choose a favorite. They were all so good. Add street tacos, quesadillas for my mom, elote cob, and switch fries for my dad and we were all happy campers. The flavors were obscenely good. Staff were amazing and stopped by to make sure we were always taken care of: fast and friendly. Best combo ever. The place is also super cute! Loved the bar and simplicity of the concept. Switchback has a quiet elegance while be so very casual. Perfect in my book.

They were tired from the day and zipped into their stroller so they could only see out the front and had a cozy bed where they were soon snoozing fitfully. The staff was welcoming and helpful. We placed our orders. My daughter chose two Camarones tacos that had grilled shrimp, corn tortilla, lettuce, onions, cilantro and salsa. She also got one Carne Asada taco that had grilled beef, corn tortilla, lettuce, onions, cilantro and salsa. She said the meat was delicious and the toppings were super fresh. My husband chose the Fajita Taco Salad with chicken, the salad had onions, peppers, beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, cheese, guacamole, and sour cream. He really liked the crunchy shell and the salad was tasty. I chose the L.A. Quesabirria Tacos. It came with 3 tacos on corn tortillas and consumé for dipping. The tacos were filled with melted Monterrey jack cheese, onions and cilantro. It was decadently delicious. I would come back.
