    Burrito Asada

Looked on the app to find this has high reviews for a Mexican restaurant in Durango. I usually go to tequila's, but thought I would give this place a try got in and got a table very fast lively atmosphere and servers are very prompt and attentive. I ordered the burrito Asada Christmas style so I could try the red chili and the green chili And it comes with rice and beans. By far in all my travels was this the worst Mexican food I've ever had. They use pre shredded cheese. So it doesn't melt completely. The red sauce I can't even explain it. I want to say it's like they're salsa which the salsa is not bad but not smothered on a burrito. The green chili is more a tomatillo base which is OK but had an offputting taste for some reason the tortilla even tasted bad And I love tortillas. The meat was chewy and had no flavor. Everything needed salt. The rice was planned and almost had a sour taste to it, which doesn't make sense because the place had a lot of people in there so everything should have been fresh. I hate writing reviews about food that is this bad but somebody has to. I gave two stars only because the people were nice. It was a good atmosphere.

Very cute place. Sat right away and our server Sadler ask about drinks. Got them and ask if we were ready and we were we order our food and an appetizer, he even ask if was an appetizer and we said yes. He came with a plate of food which was mine. Dropped it off and left then a few minutes later he brought out the appetizer mango ahi tuna ceviche but no chips. And left so I have my food and an appetizer but my wife has nothing. About 9 minutes later my wife gets her food and finally got to ask for chips. Food was decent but not hot even my wife's. Off night for server maybe but actually acted like I'm here don't expect much.

Lunch at this place was okay. I had the shrimp stuffed avocado which I usually get but it was not as tasty as usual, my house marg was weak. Husband was not pleased with his dish either. Then the check came & we left a $10 tip. On our way home I was looking at the check & the restaurant had already added on a 20% tip. Ended up tipping $20. Ambiance is nil. Service was good. Don't like being deceived.

This business just moved to this new location just south of town. It's newly decorated in typical Mexican restaurant items and colors. Being Sunday evening we were greeted and seated promptly. Our waitress was helpful guiding us on the most popular items. It's not the normal refried beans and rice with some type of meat wrapped in a tortilla. They have a lot of seafood based dishes that looked very good. We stuck with tacos and enchiladas. The tacos had real sliced beef and the enchiladas had shredded chicken. Both very good. The seafood dishes looked interesting but we decided to stick with what we know. I would say it's a step above the typical Tex-Mex restaurant. I would recommend this establishment.

They've moved to a new location...but it's better Food and service are still excellent and I enjoyed the Carnitas plate, the meat was fork-tender and the corn tortillas were served warm with butter on the side. I'll be back next year

We went on a Wednesday night and sat at the bar. We had great service. They give you complimentary chips and salsa. They are fresh and tasty. I had three street tacos- carne asada, al pastor, and shredded beef. All were very good and served on top homemade corn tortillas. My friend had the carnitas! They are amazing. Tender roasted pork is served with tortillas, guac, and beans and rice. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of parking in the attached lot. They have outdoor seating.

Pollo and ground beef crunchy taco.

The service? Dialed in. Attentive without hovering, and genuinely helpful when navigating their very tempting margarita menu. I went all in with both the Mamasita and Papasita...no regrets. Creative, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to sip. Chips came out warm and freshly fried (always a good sign), and the sizzling queso hit that perfect salty, melty note you hope for but don't always get. The avocado stuffed with shrimp starter was a standout: fresh, colorful, and a nice lighter contrast before diving into the mains. And speaking of mains... the Seafood Diablo absolutely delivered. Packed with shrimp, fish, mussels, and squid, and finished with just the right amount of heat to keep things interesting without overwhelming the flavors. If you're in Durango and want something that's a little more lively than the usual lineup, this place brings both personality and flavor. Definitely worth a stop.

Just a quick heads-up: If you're not from the West, the salsa will likely be a little spicier than you're used to. Ours was. There was also a slaw "salsa" served that we were unaccustomed to, but it was a good change of pace. My only regret - not getting a margarita because we were driving.

If you are a lover of well done birria, this is your place. Craving authentic Mexican food? Yep, this is your place. We started with their chips and salsa. I think you can tell a lot by the salsa at a place. Lemme just say, I was so very happy! Their salsa wasn't too chunky, not too thin and they are not afraid to season and add some heat - but hey, don't worry it wasn't too hot if you've got a dad like mine who isn't a fan of "too much spice." Such a good omen. I couldn't decide which marg to try so ordered a flight. Best decision ever. Even as I write this, I'm still hard pressed to choose a favorite. They were all so good. Add street tacos, quesadillas for my mom, elote cob, and switch fries for my dad and we were all happy campers. The flavors were obscenely good. Staff were amazing and stopped by to make sure we were always taken care of: fast and friendly. Best combo ever. The place is also super cute! Loved the bar and simplicity of the concept. Switchback has a quiet elegance while be so very casual. Perfect in my book.
