My husband and I had an exceptional experience at Kadlec Medical Center this week. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the outstanding level of care, kindness, and professionalism shown to us. We arrived ahead of schedule, as we always do, and they were able to take my husband in right away. When he came out of his appointment, he was genuinely happy and relieved. He told me, "The representative from the pacemaker company was so friendly and personable and immediately put me at ease. The MRI technician was very kind and even asked if I would like to listen to music during the MRI. The gentleman who escorted me to the imaging department could tell I was nervous and did everything he could to reassure me. Three wonderful men treated me like I truly mattered." We desperately needed a positive experience with a local hospital, and Kadlec provided exactly that. Compassionate care makes such a difference--especially when a patient is already anxious--and this team went above and beyond. We highly recommend Kadlec Medical Center. Odd review.... Emergency Room, Father got the flu having COPD got mild pneumonia. Waiting in the ER lobby got a Milky Way (I believe $2.75) the vending machine rips you off. Gave it a $5 bill, got 2 $1 coins in change (Pictured). This is a class action lawsuit waiting to happen. read more

This is referring to their behavioral health suite at kadlec but since they don't seem to exist online I will put my warning here for all patience. I am Really disappointed with the discrimination I experienced at kadlec behavioral health. I went in not once but twice to get the help I finally needed. I have ADHD and I wanted to get properly diagnosed and start the proper treatment as my life is heavily affected by this. While I did get diagnosed, I was looked down upon because I smoke. She made me come back in, even tho I was already confirmed twice to have the illness. Mary Habiba Ameh couldn't care less. She looked at me like I was a drug seeker and wanted to put me on antidepressants and anti-anxiety meds. I told her I had already used those in the past and had bad experiences with them. I knew they wouldn't help and I wasn't there for generalized anxiety, I was there for ADHD which she confirmed I had. But no, that was unacceptable. She was EXTREMELY dismissive, EXTREMELY SARCASTIC, and frankly she needs to learn more about the diseases she is "treating" and how it presents in people. I felt like she tried to make me Feel small and it felt horrible. For someone who is a medical professional, she did not seem all that Knowledgeable and honestly was a stark reminder As to why I stopped working with psychiatrists in the first place. Unless you fit the perfect mold as to what she wants a patient to look like, don't even bother. If you have ever tried to help yourself deal with your symptoms, don't tell her or she will probably try to tug you around by a leash. read more

I had a partial knee replacement and was kept overnight due to an error in scheduling my physical therapy, which is essential upon release. Unfortunately, my experience was frustrating from the start. During pre-registration, I was completely confused about how I would receive my post-surgery medications. The nurse handling my intake incorrectly told me that my doctor didn't prescribe meds to be delivered at the hospital. I had to check MyChart myself and confirm that, in fact, my prescriptions were being handled there and would be delivered bedside. This unnecessary confusion could have been avoided with better communication. My actual hospital stay was even worse. My pain catheter became unplugged, and I didn't realize it for hours until I felt something wet. The nurse never checked it, leaving me in excruciating pain without proper management. Twice, I was the one who discovered the issue. My IV also blew, and the beds were so thin they caused serious back discomfort. The nurse assigned to me was very new and lacked the experience to handle my care properly. To make matters worse, I was denied the progression of pain medication, and I still don't understand why. Thankfully, the next shift was a completely different experience. A more experienced nurse took over, got me in tip-top shape, and both she and the floor supervisor apologized profusely. While I appreciate their efforts to make things right, the initial experience was unacceptable. This facility needs to improve its communication, staff training, and oversight--especially for post-surgical care. I was very disappointed and frustrated at the least but never was rude. I just cried when morning staff had told me my doctors orders regarding prn control and how the night nurse refused me this medication. So many hours in pure agony. The Night Nurse actually quoted me saying did you know that most addictions start right after surgery! She also said oh you'll be taking pills because you're prescribed pills when you go home yet I'm not home right now? These are word for word. read more

In September of this year, it will be 59 years since my first visit to Kadlec. Throughout my youth and much of my adulthood the gold standard against which other care facilities I've had the misfortune of visiting failed to meet. Apparently, gold has turned brown and smelly. Recently, in the last few years have had multiple substandard visits. The last of which the staff misled and used deceptive wording so that we had a procedure while they are out of network. Why are they out of network. Well for the research I conducted, they charged about 2.5 times the national average for the procedure we went there for, crooks. You would think for the 2.5x value that they would be extremely competent, well think again. read more

They sent my dad home coughing up blood, so he went back to the hospital and ended up getting staph infection in his stomach as well as having multiple ulcers and the hospital will not listen to our concerns about his health. If you need to see a cardiologist, don't waste time at Kadlec. They don't care about patients. The cardiologist put 3 stints in my dad, 2 days later my dad had a heart attack. The cardiologist never showed up while my dad was admitted to the hospital, never even called to check on him. Now the cardiologist has physically not showed up for 2 follow- up appointments. They left us in the waiting room 45 minutes then acted like we were the problem when they finally told us the Dr wasn't going to make it, again. When i tried to complain to a hospital administrator, they threatened to have me arrested. Kadlec would rather let my dad die than provide care. read more

I came here to see my dad. He was in the ICU. At first I was mad. I was mad because of the visitor policy and you wouldn't let me stay overnight with him. When we switched gears to comfort care that changed. It was a bumpy transition though because often the visitor check in told family we were still at 4 visitors a day. My father was dying and your staff turned them away before double checking that he was on comfort care. I tried to stay calm, but I was on the verge of freaking out about this constant communication issue. Thank goodness you let me stay the night finally. I stayed with him 3 nights. My father passed away peacefully this past Saturday. I want to recognize the icu nurse named Zak. He's a red head and he was amazing. On the step down floor there was a nurse named Bob who was also amazing. Both of these men went above and beyond what was required of them, and I'm forever grateful. Thank you. read more

Been at the ER for over 5 hours and there's people that were here before us. This is an absolute joke of how to run an ER. Other reviews show a perpetual issue with horrible wait times. Our Mother was airlifted to your hospital from Moses Lake. After she was treated and during her recovery my sister and I spent the week with her and watched the professional care and concern that each RN and CNA spent to meet her needs. We became acquainted with Jessica (RN), Tam (? RN) and Notosha (CNA) on the 7th floor. Those are the names we recall but so many came through and worked just hard and were very engaging. Very disappointed and scared for the community. My son had hit his head while on a bus after the bus had to stop hard. At the time he didn't think anything about it. He contacted me because his vision was blurry, he was nauseous, and had the worst headache of his life. He tried urgent care first but they had him go to the hospital. After I got him there at around 9am we sat there for way too long. He had thrown up twice and I was getting really worried. What if this was a brain bleed? As time went by people just stopped going into the entrance to see a ER doctor. I contacted a friend who is a nurse and she told me she surprised it took that long. Finally at 2:30pm I said enough is enough. I put him in the car and drove to trios. Once there after talking to a very compassionate nurse he was taken back to the ER area within 15 minutes they had him in CT. He had a major concussion. They medicated him and gave me the education I needed to watch over him. 10 years ago Providence took over KRMC and I believe they ruined it. Many of my friends had told me how much it has gone downhill but now that I have experienced their lack of caring. With it is due to lack of staff or something else. People should not be treated like we were. read more

Was a visitor at this hospital for a few days to help with a family member admitted for COVID. 90% of everyone we encountered were FANTASTIC! Giving this hospital a five star review because the facility itself is beautiful and well maintained. The cafeteria, rooms, the terrace on the 7th floor...all great. Most of the nurses, doctors, staff, janitorial, food workers were very pleasant and friendly. If you have the time (and not in an intense, stressed out moment), you can talk to the staff and get to know them. It's a crazy (and busy) time right now, and they're doing their best. read more

There is something wrong with me and nobody at Kadlec wants to tell me purposely the doctor brought up you don't have money for major testing how disrespectful. Even visited their emergency room couple times as well. Never going to Kadlec ever again. Doctors don't even have empathy for patients how can they not listen to us. I weigh 115 lb for the longest time since 2022 and nobody cares about. Healthcare in Tri-Cities is horrible stay away and go someplace else guys. 0 if that was possible. Someone should sue this hospital for real they don't know what the hell they're doing because some patients are waiting so long for a surgery even if there is pain associated with the wait time. Medical professionals make it seem like we are freaking stupid when I know more about behaving and how to show good heart to someone if they're feeling unwell. Get out of here. Mentioning to disabled person like myself anything about how MRI and Cat Scan are expensive and do you have insurance that is very big discrimination and the doctor should be fired and the facility sued. Hub had emergency gallbladder surgery. He got the best care from admitting to discharge. Quality care with attention to his needs. Every one we encountered the week before Christmas 2023 was knowledgeable and.caring. It's never fun to have to go to the hospital, but we do recommend Kadlec in Richland from our experience. A couple nights ago, my daughter was taken by ambulance to the Hermiston Hospital. She has a Neurological disorder and has problems breathing. After arriving here, the doctor thought she should go to the Richland Kadlec Hospital. They would be able to do more testing there. Once there, it was a total nightmare. Dr. Bass, the ER doctor was extremely rude. He dismissed any of her breathing issues and made her feel like she was making everything up. The doctor she saw in Hermiston, had tests he thought she should have done. Dr Bass decided she didn't need all of them, especially the swallowing tests, which I thought she needed the most. He was also extremely rude to me as well. I was waiting in the room for my daughter to get back from testing. He came in and said, how are you doing? I said just waiting for her to get back. He then said she was finished with the tests and would be sent home. I responded by asking about the breathing/ swallowing test. He said "he decided "she didn't need it. I said, well the Neurologist wanted it. He nastily replied, she looks like she is doing fine, so I think she doesn't need it. I couldn't take take his attitude any longer so I said, I'm leaving. He replied, oh wow you don't have to. I replied, "I want to". When my daughter came back from testing, she was discharged. If you want to be bullied and gaslit, this is the place for you. read more

Major security breech and poor quality care. I only wanted an X-ray of my broken toe, but I was strapped in a gurney and held prisoner for six hours. They insisted I was going to die without their help, but I disagreed with every recommendation they made. Particularly egregious was their insistence that I must check in to the hospital right away for 30 days of IV antibiotics. After I walked out, I double checked their recommendation. The FDA had two black box warnings against this antibiotic, and both of them applied to me. They even called me back the next day insisting that would die if I didn't come back. That is only the beginning. From the day I walked out I began receiving emails and texts demanding payment for this shoddy service. Shoddy or not, they deserve to be paid for the services they provided (they did X-ray my toe). However the texts and emails had no clear connection with the hospital where I received service. Instead they provided a link to some address with no clear connection to the hospital. This looks like phishing. No one should ever click on such a link. Instead we need to go to the website of the organization and double check there. But there is no website for this hospital. So I cannot trust anything they have sent me. If these emails and texts are legitimate, then the hospital is demanding that I pay with a credit card. No other form of payment is accepted. If I do pay anything, it will be in cash or check. I do not trust this disorganization with my credit card info. I inquired about where to send a check, and I was told to send a check to Dayton payment processing. No clear connection to the provider. I sent them $50 months ago and never received any receipt. Apparently they never tried billing medicare, because emergency room services are 100% covered. I will be happy to pay any remaining charges after medicare done its part. But first I want to know what happened to my $50, whether the claim was submitted to medicare, and if not the information I will need to submit the claim myself. And above all I will only pay in cash or check to an organization that provably is connected with the hospital. read more

Went to kadlec Emergency room this afternoon. My girlfriend was having chest pains. We checked in at 3pm. There was about 15 people in the waiting room. After waiting for almost 6 hours my girlfriend wanted to leave. She felt bad still but was hungry, tired, and beyond agitated. We watched numerous people come in with lesser symptoms to be seen immediately. I read online that the average wait time for non emergent issues was 4-9 hours. I guess a patient with a history of a stroke previously and has serious heart conditions doesn't count as being an emergent issues? I pray I never have a heart attack. If I do please don't take me to this emergency room. I would like to live. It's really sad because kadlec hospital itself is a great hospital. However, their emergency room is bringing them down. read more

Their limits on family access in the birthing center even after the baby is born are arcane and discriminatory in particular towards large families who want to be involved and see the baby. When we had our children there years ago once the baby was born all the siblings and grandparents were able to come in and celebrate with us and hold the baby. Now they limit you to only three people in the room at a time and the spouse counts so two others are all that are allowed at a time!! You are forced to walk on eggshells for fear of violating the policy as they make you shuttle in siblings two at a time to see their new baby brother. Or making grandma and grandpa on either side jockey for who will get to go in when. It's ridiculous, and you will be berated if they catch even one extra person in the room as we were. Makes for a very unhappy experience sucking the joy from what should be a special time. Just another example of an organization that got too big and became uncaring and inflexible with employees who mindlessly enforce arbitrary rules at the expense of the patient and family experience - during what should be one of the most cherished events of a lifetime. read more

Worst pain of my life and a 5 hour E.R. Wait. I was told a five hour wait before they even asked what the problem was. This is not an emergency room, otherwise things would be treated as an emergency and they would have staff to actually provide their service. I will never voluntarily use this emergency room again, and I suggest you go elsewhere. Your pain and suffering is not their priority. When I got home, I called and asked what I could do, that I am completely helpless. They told me they cannot give me any advice, to call my insurance company if I want advice. Isn't that real nice, especially considering my primary physician works for this hospital. read more

I remember when this hospital used to be the hospital to go and receive amazing care. My daughter just delivered a healthy baby boy however the new policies in place limit family members to one person only during delivery and only three people at a time once the mother and baby are in a room. This hospitals lack of care for family support is egregious. My daughter is unwed and had to go in for a C-section. As her next of kin (mother) not being able to be at a minimum be in the birthing areas waiting room was despicable to save the least. Please don't make the mistake of voicing your frustration to hospital staff or be on private phone calls voicing that frustration to other family members because they'll call security to keep an eye on you! Unfortunately Kadlec has lost my support my great reviews and unless this is the only option, my family and I will no longer get assistance or medical care from this facility! My daughter has a seven-year-old daughter who is ecstatic to see and meet her little brother and she has not been able to do that. This hospital is struggling right now so I understand why we were treated the way we were but still not ideal... when I received care in January 2021, I needed help with a bacterial infection that I kept insisting I had but the MD told me no that I probably just had covid even though I had no symptoms. They gave me Tylenol and discharged me without getting the covid result, which was negative. They did not help...I ended up having to go to my dentist and luckily they recognized it right away as a bacterial infection and the dentist prescribed me antibiotics and I was already feeling better in a couple days. I believe if the Kadlec staff were more proactive, more costs could of been avoided and they would of had a better health outcome. In July 2021, my husband got diagnosed with covid and a week later his oxygen was dropping and he needed urgent medical assistance but since his oxygen was at 90 it wasn't urgent... but he was having a hard time breathing. It was a 5 hour wait unless he was pretty much dying. It was very sad because I couldn't be there with him since he had covid and because of his diagnosis they wouldn't let him wait inside and he had to sit in the 110 degree weather when he was already very dehydrated. We ended up never getting help and just left so he could get some sleep so it was so late. The next day his oxygen was even lower at 86 and it was a 4 hour wait still so we could only call 911 in order for him to seen by ambulance and very scary since I could not be there with him, turns out he had pneumonia caused by covid. Overall, I think they need to improve their patient centered care and their processes because both of these situations could of been avoided and diagnoses could of been found sooner so our health would of been taken care of properly. They are also extremely low staffed due to covid which I think is a huge problem...might need to improve their hiring process as well. read more

My 7 year old son almost died because of negligence here. they rushed us out after he had been puking and complaining of stomach pain. in the letter I just received they claim he was never puking or that there was no note of it.... they even sent us home with puke bags. they made him stand up after being there maybe an hour. he has three vertebrae broken and 1 fractured. 2 bones broken in his arm. a hematoma the size of a soft ball on his back. I kept calling asking questions because my son was getting worse after leaving. they weren't helpful and have no record of any of those phone calls apparently. he eneded up having a perforated bowel. he was 12 hours away from dying and had 2 surgeries while staying sedated in the PICU. we spent 2 weeks in the hospital and he's still on a wound vac because it was such a big incision. if inwas dying I'd tell the ambulance to drive right past this place. read more

Spent the day with them on Monday for outpatient procedure. Always efficient and friendly in the Cath lab. Shout out to nurse 'Sam' who was a great caregiver. Even ordered me some food since my discharge was delayed and I was really hungry! Nice recovery room, had a TV to watch, a window to the outside. Sam was always there for me giving me something to drink, etc. read more

I recently had hip revision surgery at Kadlec hospital that required an overnight stay. The hospital was very clean and mitigating germ procedures were through and reasonable. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and helpful and I felt cared for quickly and responsibly. Definitely recommend. read more

That damn rocking horse! This past weekend I was in Richland to start what I presume will be an arduous task of clearing out and cleaning up my Dad's house, in preparation for sale. He is now in assisted-living (but doing reasonably well). One task was emptying a dust-choaked attic. Up there was a cool rocking horse. We brought it outside and my sister took the garden hose and began washing dust off the horse. I went inside and happened to be on the phone with JP. During the call, I heard these wounded animal sounds coming from outside. Suddenly my sister flew into the house, screaming, with the flip-the-bird finger on her left hand pointed in a crazy weird angle. In her tearful agony, my sister explained that she had tripped over the rocking horse. I'm still puzzling over how that happened. It was evident that I would need to take my sister to Kadlec ER. I dropped her off at the ER entrance to find a parking space. It didn't take long to find a space, but by the time I got into the ER, my sister was already in a room, with instruments hooked up to her. Knowing that she was in good hands, I left the area to make a couple quick phone calls. When I came back, the ER front desk called my name and gave me directions to "Yellow Zone" where my sister had been taken. In very short order, x-rays were taken, numbing agents applied, finger popped back into joint and prescription written. My sister was good to go. We were in and out of Kadlec in 1 hour and 45 minutes. Not bad. What clinched five stars for Kadlec was that the hospital compassionately waited until my sister was stabilized before they came into the back to retrieve her insurance information. And also five stars for the ER staff because they were kind and calm. Their poise and good nature did not waiver, even when my sister was screaming at them to get her some damn pain meds. :-) Much of the ER has been freshly remodeled, has a new smell, and is comfortable for visitors. I've heard a lot about the times ERs fill up with patients, like when the moon is full, etc. I thought my sister had been fortunate - and had "lucked out" by having her injury on a Sunday afternoon. I reasoned that because it was a hot gorgeous sunny day (like only you get in Eastern Washington), people were going to be outside. Eventually by evening, some of their outdoor activities were going to lead to injuries and trips to ER. Sure enough, by when we left at seven, the ER was packed to the rafters. read more

My wife is expecting in January. We had a family friendly doctor (Dr Lorenzo) which we loved. My wife had to go to the emergency room recently and was immediately transferred upstairs to the birthing unit. My 5 year old daughter was not allowed up to the unit so my wife went up alone. KADLEC staff are friendly and very nice but KADLEC hospital is very FAMILY UNFRIENDLY. So we had to change from this excellent doctor to make sure we deliver at TRIOS. read more
