Not a bad coffee shop at all! I ordered iced Viennese latte and iced Dark chocolate coconut latte (half sweetened) and they were both so yummy! They also have kombucha on tap. I got the strawberry/coconut mix (forgot what it was called) and it was good! Sad that they were out of POG, which is their pretty popular one from what the employees have mentioned. After one visit to the friendly Kaffee Meister, I'm a fan. It's owner-run, and it shows as they are caring and welcoming. Great "flat white", which is similar to a latte, and a nice breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and canadian bacon on a soft fresh croissant for a reasonable price. We also tried a salad which was good, and they even offered to split it for us. It's comfortable and welcoming inside. You can sit at tables or on comfty furniture. I wish I was in Santee more often, so I could stop in every week! I will definitely stop here for my coffee next time I'm in the area. I came to Kaffee Meister to join a local friend for coffee. She mentioned that she really enjoyed Kaffee Meister and that I should try it. I mean, who doesn't prefer a small local shop over Starbucks, right? We both ordered the 16oz Mocha and..... O M G! It was the biggest, most beautiful mocha that has ever graced my presence. They served it with a yummy butter cookie. The mocha was delicious, not overly sweet, and creamy. I have now been back twice, and can't steer away from ordering anything else. The shop sits in a corner of a strip mall, it's pretty simple cute decor and open. The layout is great for meeting friends, and sitting around the sofa, or coming in to study on the laptop. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in SD county. Cozy couches and tons of tables, this shop was made for you to bring your books or laptop and curl up with a cup of coffee to get some work done. They are now serving more substantial food I think, but in the past it has mostly been acai bowls and a few pastries and bagels. I know their muffins come from the store because the liners say 'sprouts' on them...but it doesn't really bother me. Another huge perk is the fact that they have a bunch of different milk and substitutes. Really good coffee with the traditional cortados, americanos, etc. Their regular lattes with house made syrups are great. Their seasonal flavors are also delicious. Totally hit, or miss. Yesterday's Latte was incredible, today totally sucked. They messed up and made it to go, when I ordered, "for here." I watched as they tried to transfer my latte from the paper cup to the ceramic mug, and then add more steamed milk, you know, like I wouldn't notice. It tasted like milk, without coffee. We stopped by for breakfast after seeing the reviews on Yelp. Being right next door to Janet's, we were curious how their fare would stand-up against the solid offerings next door. The egg and cheese sandwich is $3.95 and pesto is added at no extra charge. Served on a croissant, sourdough, or whole wheat bread, the sandwiches taste great and are very fresh, but are too small to qualify as a meal. The sandwiches are about the size of a closed fist. That being said, the pesto is great and the croissant is flaky and delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and the decor is warm and inviting. Nice place to hangout with friends and family. Overall, this is a nice place to meet-up for coffee and a snack, but the serving size is too small to qualify as a meal. If it weren't for the small portions in relation to the size of the meal, it would be 5-stars. read more

I had a peach black iced tea here and it tasted good (as expected, nothing too special about the drink). The parking lot was surprisingly crowded. The interior of this place seemed good for studying. I saw lots working on their laptops here. The decor wasn't super impressive. They had plants here and there and some hanging twigs on the ceiling. They played indie folk music and had some beer in the fridge. I also saw the worker scooping what looked to be gelato. They have soups of the day as well. There are a couple outdoor tables options fit for two people. They sell their own grounds and lots of merchandise with their logo and name on it. The female workers here both wore short shorts (maybe that's part of the work attire). They have a same sex bathroom and serve yourself water. read more

I want to preface this review with the fact that I was a HUGE fan of KM before quarantine and unfortunately I feel like they've lost some of their jazz over the last 10 months. They have an excellent variety in the menu and the workers are always super nice. The baked goods are to die for and they can accommodate any diet (vegan, GF, paleo, etc). I'm writing this review because yesterday our order was absolutely horrific and I just can't get over it. My boyfriend ordered the BLT on a bagel and I ordered a vegetarians Andie had on a bagel. We also got a macadamia nut milk cappuccino and a nitro cold brew. Sounds good? We thought so too. The drinks were ok. Even though I asked for one pump vanilla, it never ended up in my cappuccino so that tasted pretty bland and uneventful. The sandwiches were so NOT WORTH THE PRICE. First the sandwich says it comes with lettuce, well, they decided that just one very skinny piece of butter lettuce was enough. Paper thin and disintegrating on the Mayo and mustard they lathered on the bagel. Then we have one slice on tomato and one onion ring and then to the avocado... the menu says avocado and I thought "a little mom and pop coffee shop will have real avocado"... wrong. It was that gross avocado that comes out of a package. And finally, my vegetarian didn't even have the cheese on it! They forgot! I paid $7 for a bagel with packaged avo, 1 slice tomato, 1 onion ring, and a tissue thick piece of lettuce. My boyfriends BLT was the same story with the lettuce and tomato. I could be picky but I just feel like if you're going to serve breakfast sandwiches or sandwiches of any kind then don't be shy if your price is that high! We ate it because we had already left and didn't have time to go back but just be aware that the sandwiches really aren't amazing and we were really disappointed with that experience. read more

Was looking for a gourmet cup of coffee while visiting Santee and Yelp didn't let me down. This coffee shop was hard to find because their sign says COFFEEHOUSE and in small letters to the left, Kaffee Meister. During our first visit we got two cups of coffee to go. The wait was about 20 minutes, but the coffee was great! Way better than Starbucks! During the second trip we got the same coffee, the Mocha and the Viennese, and two acai bowls to go! The coffee was consistent, except that the barista this time around didn't make any nice design in the cup, he just poured the milk right in. Boring. Anyway, the acai bowls were delicious, definitely not as delicious as Hawaii or anything close, not even on our top ten list. However, the granola was yummy. The turn off regarding the bowl was that the acai was slightly watered down, not as strong as it's supposed to be. Oh well. We definitely know where to get our coffee in Santee! $20 read more

The coffee is better than starbucks but still watered down and not worth the price. The baristas attitudes and overall friendliness is seriously lacking. Both times I've been in the atmosphere feels like a funeral. It's like the girls behind the counter would rather be doing anything but making coffee. Weird vibe for sure. I've been living in Santee for a while now and have been wanting to try Kaffee Meister. Their white mocha is just what I was looking for, a nice balance of espresso taste and sweetness. I've seen so many good reviews about their pastries and had to try something. The bear claw is fantastic! A light but fulfilling treat to satisfy your sweet tooth. The staff was really friendly and attentive as well. I'll have to come back with my husband to try one of their breakfast sandwiches!
