Great coffee and great vibes. It's my go-to coffee spot. I drive from San Diego city to Santee regularly just to support this place.

The coffee is always good. Although bit pricey. However, since Covid hit they ask if you'd like to leave a tip! Which I understand they don't want anyone touching the iPad but maybe turn it towards your guest and let them know there is a question! Don't put people on the spot. I personally always tip but some people can barely afford a special treat for themselves, it just seems pushy! read more

I have to admit I was a little skeptical about this place. It was my first time here and I didn't get the friendliest vibe from the barista working behind the counter.... But I felt compelled to order anyway. I ordered a hot caramel latte with a waffle. They don't have a big food selection to choose from but what I had was really delicious. Caramel latte has a rich texture with a subtle splash of sweetness. My biggest thing was the quality of the coffee and it's definitely there. I will be coming back for more! read more

Great hidden gem. Super homey. Lots of seating, good wi-if. Professionals and students hang out there so it's a nice eclectic spot. My drink was yummy. Probably won't be back. We live in El Cajon and stopped here to try someplace new. I like to support small coffee shops so they can compete with Starbucks. But waiting 20+ minutes is too much for mediocre coffee. Plus it's International Coffee Day, I wanted something to be excited about & really enjoy. Prana chai is one of the best chais I've ever had! I love that it's made with macadamia nut milk by default so I don't have to worry about my dairy sensitivities. Also, it's yummy. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the steep prices ($8.10 for a 20oz - ouch!) but it was absolutely delicious with a unique spice flavor. Star anise if I had to guess. The workers were super nice, too. The wait was long but I was very impressed by how many drinks they put out per unit of time. While waiting, I stood where I could watch the drinks being made and observed how they work quickly but with care and skill. I could tell a lot of the customers in there were local regulars, always a wonderful thing for a tourist to see. I'll be back for more chai next time I'm in the area! Stopped in today with my husband for a 12 oz Americano. He had a 16 oz Americano and a bagel with cream cheese. So we spent, what, $12 with tip? I finished my drink and asked the girl at the counter for a regular drip decaf refill. She said yes, then looked at my cup and said "technically, the coffee refills are for coffee purchases only". I explained to her that my drink cost more than a drip coffee since it was $2.90. She said I could pay for another coffee since the refill price doesn't apply. Of course, I didn't take her up on that ludicrous offer. I attempted to email the business to rectify this situation but their contact button on their website is disabled. I hope they contact me to sort this out. I have been here many times, I consider this location to me by neighborhood coffee house and the last time I was dining in I asked the barista for a refill and he said of course! read more

One of the employees was really rude kicked me out when I was doing my homework. It was because I didn't buy something before I sat down. She said "you have to buy something to use our Wi-Fi if if not you have to leave". Horrible service. I'll just go to Starbucks instead where they don't have these stupid policies. I find myself here every weekend. This is the best coffee shop in San Diego! The staff is kind and the shop is always bustling with costumers coming in and out. The staff prepares orders very quickly, I don't think I've had to wait more than a couple minutes for my order. I recommend this place for a quick coffee break or a long study session! read more

I decided to try this place after reading the raving reviews on Yelp and am thoroughly disappointed with the service and the quality of the drinks. I would rather drive 20 minutes outside of Santee or even go to a drive through Starbucks then come to this place again. I ordered an iced vanilla chai that tasted like I was drinking straight from the syrup bottle. The barista started my drink while I was ordering, but didn't hear my request for soy milk. He gave us attitude when he found out he had to make the drink again (there were two other people there). Poor selection of food to choose from on the menu from a cafe that touts "breakfast and brunch." read more

I love that they offer an alternative to milk that isn't soy or almond milk. I wish it didn't have sugar but I can't complain much on that front. They've got great iced teas with flavor. They can be a bit busy, but I'll say my only "complaint" is that they've often been overrun by Christians. I know that will get me crucified (HA!)!but I was in there every day for several weeks and the tables were full of Christians doing some sort of Bible study. This is weird to write about, but I had to say it because it was so predominate compared to anywhere else I've been. Still enjoy the place and the environment. read more

Ahhhh! I'm so excited this place is here! Just the fact that it's a tiny, independent coffee shop (and not Santee's 5th Starbucks) is enough to make my heart sparkle. Add the fact that this place is downright amazing, and I couldn't be happier. First of all, the decor is so comfy. It really is like Anthropologie's coffee shop love-child. The first time I went in, I ordered a cup of tea and they served a little cookie on the side. I just sat there sipping and smiling because it was all so perfect. The other thing I love is that the music wasn't too loud. I'm a graduate student and I have a hard time studying if there is loud music or even music with too many lyrics. I find singing distracting. The music at Kaffee Meister was nice, soothing instrumental music, perfect for a long study sesh. I think many people agree with me- I went on a Saturday and almost every table was taken by somebody reading or studying. That made the vibe even better. The girls working there were so nice and friendly. Even when I asked the same questions I'm sure they get every day (How long have you been open? Where is your other location? How long has that been open? blah blah blah) they were so nice and happy to chat. Call me a nerd, but here's what puts the cherry on top: It's in the same little center as the library AND the cupcake shop. Do you understand? 1. Go get a book at the library. 2. Walk three doors down for the best cupcake of your life, and 3. Walk across the parking lot to KM, get a latte, sit down and eat said cupcake, read said book and sip said latte. There. I just planned out your perfect day. You're welcome. I'm getting so excited as I write this, I think I'm gonna pack up the ol' laptop and head over there right now! I love this little coffee shop. The baristas are super friendly, the drinks and food are tasty, and I totally dig the cozy, relaxed vibe. I live in La Mesa but make the drive just to enjoy the environment. The music they play is awesome; sometimes folksy, sometimes classic, sometimes modern, but always chill. I try to come here later in the day if I want to get work done as the mornings tend to attract the yoga moms with their loud little cherubs in double-strollers. Not hating on said yoga moms, just a word of caution if you have a hard time concentrating when it sounds like a daycare around you. Or bring headphones. Solid place! read more

Smooth Italian roast coffee (not bitter and over-roasted like the BIG dog's) terrific presentation (latte leafs in the crema) in real ceramic cups/saucers, a backdrop of mellow tunes and a relaxed, roomy living room atmosphere. Blows Sbux high volume, clinical name-shouting, paper cup-rush, out of the water. Give it a whirl. * This place could use a few more baristas on the weekends. That's really the only CON. Have you seen how much extra they charge for Additions & Substitutes?! 90Cents for Soy, Almond, Breve (1/2 & 1/2) or Organic!!!! 95Cents for an Espresso Shot!! 75Cents for Flavorings and Honey!!! Also their Frappes do not come with Espresso/Caffeine .... That would be nice if they told us that on the menu. Came here to kill time before class with a nice cup of coffee. My go to drink is a vanilla latte. I usually like my vanilla latte very creamy and sweet and mine was kind of lacking in sweetness. I asked the barista for more vanilla syrup and he happily helped me and was very attentive to what I wanted. I didn't even have to pay extra for it! The staff here is very welcoming and helpful and that's pretty much the vibe you get from this place. A nice place to come to study or just have a good cup of coffee. Overall, very solid place. Would give 4.5 if yelp did half stars. The pros: the coffee is good quality and the food can be really good, too. Cosy independent vibe, some couches and plush chairs inside and nice seating area outside. I've brought my dog with me and sat out there enjoying the view with a latte. The cons: kinda pricey and they run out of certain food sometimes, only small selection of pastries, and you can get different carbohydrate on your sandwich without notice. But at least that means they don't overstock and keep it fresh. I like this place, and plan to continue to come here. read more

On my way through Santee I searched Yelp for coffee because I needed some caffeine and Kaffee Mesiter popped up. The place had decent reviews so I went on my mission to grab some ice coffee for the hot day. First thing to note about Mesiter is that their parking lot is crazy busy during the day, between the Jiu Jistu place and Janet's, there is literally people fighting over spots. So after snagging a spot and pissing off the post man who wanted to park there (he can park anywhere damit, why take a good spot) I finally made my way to the cafe. The inside is quite cozy and nice with comfortable looking chairs to sit in. They have your typical coffee menu that offers drip coffee, espresso drinks and of course cold brew. Food is offered as well but I didn't try anything there. My cold brew came out quickly and I was on my way, the coffee was perfect and service was friendly. I did find their stairs to nowhere a bit interesting, they had some good music playing on their old school Bose system, overall a great atmosphere to enjoy some coffee. I would definitely return to this place again for some coffee, just hope I don't have to steal the postman's spot again. read more

Thank you Kaffe Meister for still opening at 530a.m. on Saturday! I had stopped by while in town and before dirving up to OC, I quickly yelped for coffee places and this popped up. I'll be stopping in more often whenever I visit family. I'm extremely impressed with their tea lattes. It's creamy and smooth. Their flavors of tea is not over-powered by sweeteners or milk. I got one of their black tea latte and fell in love with it. I also had their almond poppy muffin and of course it was delicious too! The atmosphere reminded me of a rustic, backyard exterior. Super comfy and enough room for get together with friends or study groups. I love their decor of lights that added to the comfy atmosphere. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their products. I do recommend giving this place a try and it's not expensive. I'm sure they get busy later on the day, so hopefully you can give this place a try. :) read more

Dark roast drip was really good. Atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. We also tried the breakfast sandwich. It was average. Quality ingredients, but lacking in flavor. Service was slow and if you want your drip coffee immediately while you wait for your sandwich you need to hover at the counter. Staff is friendly. Hmm, I wanted to like this place because its always filled with people and it looks soo cool. It reminds me of the coffee shop from the TV show Friends. They have live music on selected days, free wifi, lots of available seating. The service was good. I had an espresso & a breakfast sandwich with sausage. I'm an avid coffee drinker and so I would prefer my coffee be strong and i just didn't get that. [insert sad face] The breakfast sandwich was too greasy for me and I felt the pesto was overpowering.
