LOVE this place! Lots of selection but the thing that stands out about this place, is that every person working there knows so much about their products. Especially when our dog needs a little help to feel better using natural products! Whether it's a little bout of diarrhea or an upset stomach or what foods are best to try 1st for our newly adopted 12 year old senior pooch. They have shot clinics which is much easier to get into vs vets and a little cheaper too. Teeth scaling vet clinics so your pet doesn't have to be put under each year to have their teeth cleaned. But they also can give antibiotics if needed and have found physical things going on with our pet that our own vets didn't pick up on even after seening our dog just days prior to the teeth clinic (like an infection that needed treatment asap)!!! The new system for checking in for the clinics is horrible. We can't stand long & have a dog who is reactive to other dogs so we come prepared with our paper work completed. Today they tell us they have gone high tech. Oh great. It only took SEVEN employees to check us in!! We'll give you one more try & if it's this traumatic next time we're going to Scenthound where it's much more peaceful!! read more

Oh man, I seriously could cry from happiness. It's always been a dream of mine to have chickens, & yesterday one of my dreams came true! After doing some research with my husband, we decided to go with chicks to be able to bond with them from a young age. We called ahead to make sure they were not only open but they had some chicks available for us to look at (a nearby competitor didn't have updated hours-found out at 4:02 they closed at 4pm versus listed time of 5pm). Emma & the store manager were the two main people who helped us out. No matter how many questions we had, they had helpful answers. I fully felt confident going with their suggestions based on what would work with what our family is trying to achieve. Our chicken coop is meant for up to 6 chickens, we decided to go with three to start with & just go from there. Emma was so sweet, she even allowed me to pet one of the chicks. So far, everything has been going incredibly smooth. Our dogs are very curious about them & my toddler can't wait to see his "duck" twice a day(wait until he finds out they're chickens ). Our chicks are a couple days old & I seriously can not wait to see their growth over the next couple of weeks-but more importantly their lives. I feel so incredibly blessed to have stumbled upon this store. Every single staff member felt like a long time friend just genuinely wanting to help you out. That is what I call exceptional customer service . Although there is a larger store in Romana, unless we have to I'd love to continue to venture to this store because the energy & service was something you don't come across everyday. Accessibility: they have accessible, close parking spots right in front of the store as well as a ramp to get up to the building. The front doors are motion-activated and it's well lit inside with wide isles and smooth floors. Experience: upon walking in, the very first I noticed was how well organized they are, wow! This looks like the most organized pet store I have ever been to. Everything was sitting perfectly straight on every isle and the items weren't crammed in anywhere. On the downside, they did not have the canned dog food I needed...Hills Science Diet, Chicken and Barley for age 7+. I had to drive to Pets Plus because they had it. Still a great store! This is a smaller location, but it's decked out with everything I need. We have a big 85lbs dog and a small 12lbs dog. Both a full of energy and need those treats, toys, and comfort items. They seem to have it all here for dogs: medical supplies, grooming supplies, refrigerated food, canned food, dry food, treats, toys, leashes, collars... the list goes on. They also have supplies for cats, birds, and rodents. Every once and awhile they'll have small pets for sale. I've seen Reptiles, chickens and a variety of rodents (Rabbits, Gerbils, etc.) It's a great pet supply, well stocked and located next to the other stores we shop at. 5 stars all the way! Good staff, great customer service, good selection of food and treats and hay (it is green and fresh). Much better than trying to shop at Petco or Walmart for similar items where I often leave empty handed do to a lack of stock or items that I am not comfortable with. I say this with utmost confidence: If you are planning on buying a betta fish, BUY FROM THIS STORE. Are the fish a bit more expensive than big brand pet stores? Yes. Are they MUCH healthier, happier and more cared for? Also a BIG yes. After seeing the miserable, lifeless bettas at other big chain stores, I was intensely surprised and pleased to see how active and healthy the bettas are at this Kahoots. There is a smaller selection, sure, but each fish receives top notch, knowledgeable, and compassionate care. It is 100% worth the money to get a fish that is healthy from this store, than to buy a cheaper fish that will likely die from the stress it has already undergone. As for the tanks and accessories, some are reasonably priced and some are definitely overpriced...but it's a smaller store, so one should expect that going in. I definitely plan on going back for small stuff like food, water conditioners and treats for my new friend, Benni the betta. read more

We go here mostly. Great place with great advice. Toys for dogs and they have their brand of food which has healthy ingredients. They also have new dog food that's just gone on the market. What I would like is all the samples they get from manufacturers/companies give to customers. In the Bay Area. My aunt gets so many free samples for Kain. She sends them to us. You know what this new remodel reminds me of? It's Sprouts but for pet supplies. Stopped by to check out the new location /remodel. As far as the pet supplies go they have have a very good section for both cats and dogs. I'm amazed at how many different cat foods they have here. Interesting that the most popular of the expensive cat foods was Minced Rabbit. My favorite pet store! Every time I come in, everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You can tell they are really animal-lovers! The other night I came in right before closing to get a cone of shame for my puppy who just got neutered. I wasn't sure which size to try because nothing has been working, but they encouraged me to try several different ones and bring them back if necessary. Unfortunately, none of them worked (apparently my pup is REALLY flexible) so I had to return them all. I felt bad but they were so understanding, and recognized me from the previous night, asking how my pup was doing and offered advice on how to make his recovery easier. We love this store it's Pawwwwfect!!!! But honestly we really have had the most help with our growing puppy here in Kahoots!! I love how kind and helpful the staff are and we have been through 2 harnesses now through the various growing stages for our Frenchie. I have never owned a French bulldog and my honey has never owned a dog so we needed lots of support! We learned from the staff that bully breeds are notorious for chewing so they set us up with several natural chews to keep him busy and let him chomp away. Tip: they even help educate dog owners too!! They taught us best foods for Frenchie's as they have sensitive tummies, and they even gave us several foods and food toppers (aka crack for dogs hahaha) for our puppy to try. The first gentleman who helps had a degree is psychology and was so in tune with each. Customer that would come in, and then the past few times we have worked with younger and VERY kind woman who my dog loves every time we go get more toys and foods. Having a puppy is hard!! And the staff at Kahoots really know there stuff! read more

Very friendly! I called before going to make sure they sold my dogs food. They did retail Fromm, as they do a lot of other natural dog food brands. My dogs and I stopped by and the staff was very nice. I literally just ran in for one thing but they had the brand and the price was right! Seriously? Your return policies and customer service sucks. My wife bought a dog crate for our granddog at their Escondido store. Before we were able to give it to our son he ended up moving out of state. By that time she had misplaced the receipt, however, the tags were still on it. We went to the Poway store to return it, but they told us they couldn't refund the money because they didn't have our credit card on file. We could go to the Escondido store where it was bought and they could refund the money to the credit card. We drove from Poway to Escondido and I shlepped the heavy crate for the second time into a Kahoots store that day only to be told that we could get a store credit, nothing more. Again, seriously? We have no need for that store credit, Kahoots has no stores outside of SoCa. What good is it? They also don't have an online store where we could redeem a store credit for our son in his new location. All in all - this sucks. We will donate the crate to a charity thrift store. It's its original packaging, never opened. All our friends will hear about it. read more

The employees here are all very sweet and you can tell they really love animals. Kahoots tends to have many specialty products Petco and PetSmart don't have. Excellent selection of foods, toys, cages, health and beauty products, bedding and even some reptilian and furry friends. Kahoots tends to have some cool stuff you don't see elsewhere. I love this Kahoots location. It's the largest store nearby with a nice training facility. Kahoots is a local company, originally established in Ramona. We try to purchase local grain free, healthy foods for our pet and it is so nice to be able to pick out local food and a local shop! This location has an extensive collection of toys, chews, food, treats, collars, leashes, etc. The only line I wish would be broadened at this time are the dog beds...something sturdy but more fashionable! read more

When I went to pay at the register Dan the manager over charged me double of what my total was (it was almost $100) I didn't notice till I saw my receipt and asked him what happened. He admitted charging my card twice and immediately offered to reverse the transaction. After waiting for about 20 mins while he called corporate he told me money was going to be reimbursed within 8-24 hours and that he'll call me next day I left but didn't get a receipt or anything to prove my card was charged. He also told me to keep what I had purchased as a way of compensation. Next day nobody called me and the third day I decided to call. Shawn answered the phone and told me the money was actually going to take 3-5 business days to apear on my account. In reality this was goin to take more because it all started on a Thursday. It's a mess. Im going to Petco instead next time. read more

Kahoots is a wonderful place to get pet supplies. The sales clerks are friendly and knowledgeable. They have good selection and is usually very clean and a pleasure to visit. Prices can be a little steep, so, it's best to shop around. Look for their store flyers with your usual Tuesday advertisements to save some $$$. The location is convenient and ample parking. I wish they opened a little later...I went there at 7:55 pm and they closed at 8:00 pm. Had to return the next day...oh well! Maybe I should have read the Yelp! information a little better... read more

I took my dog to have his teeth cleaned. I had to wait outside while they did this so I could not see what was happening. He was gone no more than ten minutes. I question how his teeth could be thoroughly cleaned in that brief time and to make it worse I was charged $175.00 for this " procedure ", which had to be paid in advance of the appointment. The whole thing felt very sketchy. I will never go there again. read more

I love this place! Every time I go in I'm greeted by super friendly staff. Everyone there is very knowledgeable, and very eager to help. Kahoots itself has a very wide range of pet care products, and seasonal items like costumes and sweaters; they even have an entire wall dedicated to collars, leashes, and harnesses so you can shop to your content. They host vaccine clinics as well as promote for anesthesia free dental cleanings, which is really cool. I would definitely recommend Kahoots for any of your pet needs; they really do care about you and your pet, which I think is really important in the pet industry. read more

I was supposed to start puppy training for my dog today. I called ahead, checked in with someone, made sure to do what I was supposed to do. Unfortunately, after driving 40 mins to get to Escondido, I was turned away (and rudely at that). Nowhere on the website was there an announcement, and when there is a change perhaps after explaining your circumstances, I should have been allowed to join the class today. At the very least, received a better response/demeanor from employee. Point is: I was told the class is not "on going" even though that's what I was told TODAY at 10am, AND that's what the website says. I did this so I wouldn't run into any problems, but yet here I am being told I can't join the class and that it won't start until 9/16. I would have taken this slightly better if your rep had been less rude and insincere about it. Not cool. Who decides on the day of that you're going to change your schedule and not care about any of the repercussions. You should have planned better, and made the change for the following class. Therefore giving people sufficient notice. Unprofessional. It's just common courtesy. read more

The only thing that would make this place better is if they partnered with the local shelter to adopt animals through their store. The staff are always nice every time I've ever been here and they are knowledgeable. The animals they do have for sale here are always in clean cages and are not afraid of people. I came in today to buy my daughter fish for her new fish tank. They had a terrible fish selection, they had 4 little tanks with fish that's it! My daughter was so disappointed, I had to take her across town to Petco. The employees were nice and helpful they get 5 stars. But the store is more for dogs and cats not really a great pet store for fish. If they expand their fish area I will give them another shot in the future. read more

Love this pet store, all the staff are always super helpful. Plus they are so loving to my puppy every time I bring him in, makes him feel so welcome! I started brining him when he was pretty young and its a nice place to get your dog a little bit of socialization while buying supplies. Plus they have great recommendations on treats and stuff, the buffalo ears one of their staff recommended have become my dogs favorite! They also host a puppy class by Beckman's Dog Training that we are attending and have been very pleased by the experience. For one, they are exactly what I think a puppy class should be. Tons of play time with intermittent 5 minute training sessions for the puppies. This gives the puppies great socialization and allows them to learn how to play properly in a safe environment, but still provides the owners with some instruction on basic commands and the instructor can give the owners feedback on how they are doing. The instructors are great! Really helpful tips and always makes sure everyone (puppies and people) have a great experience. Highly recommended. read more
