The owner is RUDE. We agreed upon the service that would be performed and the price when I dropped off my 5 month old puppy. (Same service & price that was done last month). She called me after two hours to let me know he was ready and complained that he "hasn't learned to stop barking". Anyone with any dog knowledge knows that puppies bark when they are under stress. During the phone conversation, we had a minute with a bad connection and I told her that I missed some of what she had just said because the phone had cut out. She rudely commented, "no, that was your dog barking." She proceeded to REPEATEDLY yell, "Stop that!" at my pup, while calling him by name...while I was LISTENING on the phone. Anyone with any dog knowledge knows that when a dog is stressed out and barking, the last thing that you want to do is yell at them. It only increases stress and therefore increases their barking. I immediately drove to pick up my puppy. When I got there, the lady at the desk told me the price, which was five dollars more than what we had agreed upon. I told her that the amount was $45 last month for the same service. She asked the owner, who rudely replied, "Well, it's $50 today". When I asked what the difference was, she told me that my puppy hadn't stopped barking & he had thrown up and she had to clean it up & do more brushing. I told her that I imagine he threw up because he was stressed and that I heard her yelling at him while I was on the phone, so I could only imagine how she treated him when I wasn't on the phone. I had a terrible experience that I feel compelled to share. I usually don't leave reviews, but this situation was too serious not to. I took my dog for a haircut, and unfortunately, he ended up getting seriously hurt in his genital area. He suffered burns and has been in pain ever since. He stopped eating for a few days and refuses to lie down, instead sitting for hours. His eyes are watery from tears. My wife spoke with one of the owners, who simply said that our dog would be okay and handed her an unreadable spray bottle. I have called to request a refund, but I have not received any response. My dog loves this place! Patrick always does a spectacular job on him. I love his haircuts and how he smells after. The do full baths, haircut/grooming, nail trimming and gland express when needed. They don't go by appointment times, but more of available slots of how many dogs they can do in a day. I normally call a few days before I would like him to get groomed to get a slot. Drop off is between 8am-11am. Typically I will drop my dog off at 8am and will get a phone call that he is ready for pick up between 11:30a-1:30p. I live over in Mission Valley and I drive up to Escondido specifically for Patrick. I would recommend this place to anyone that needs a quality dog grooming. read more

Took my parents dogs here. Some weird coincidences line up. Dogs are normally happy but came back from groomers, seeming out of it and wouldn't eat for days. One of the dogs was hurting and in pain. A no nonsense place that had a steady flow of dogs coming in for cuts. I called on a Friday and got an appointment for Monday at 8am for my cat to get a shave. I arrived right on time and dropped my cat off. The person receiving my cat said they would be done within 1 - 1.5 hours and that they would give me a call when he was ready. I came back on my own after an hour and forty minutes with no call. My cat was still in his carrier when I came back and hadn't been touched. I had to put up a little bit of a fuss about getting back to work (I did take the morning off for the appointment) and they took him out as soon as they finished the dog they were working on. The person grooming my cat was fast and professional. They knew how to hold him to keep him comfortable and they worked quickly. I stayed for the shave because I didn't want to have to leave again after having been gone before. My cat's shave looked really good. It was just what I wanted. She even asked me for clarification on how far up I wanted his head shaved, how I wanted his tail, etc They quoted me $40 and I paid $40 for the cut. Great deal that really can't be best. I would go back, but I would just be ready for a longer wait and anticipate mediocre customer service. I think they can afford losing any new customers because I saw countless dogs coming I with owners who seemed to really know and like the groomers. Overall good grooming and good price for my cat, but loses 2 starts for poor customer service and no communication about being behind schedule. read more

I love it here. Well I called on a Friday to see if they can take my 3 dogs. I hate appointments and I prefer places to allow walk-ins whenever I want to go. Well they graciously allowed me to bring them as long as I came in before 11. So I got the crazy 3 dogs ready in my truck and headed over there right away. They were so willing to go which was great! I have problems with my little puppy. Her hair is filled with knots, she hates baths, and tries to attack the hair brush every time I try to get some of the knots out. Well they said it would need to be shaved off. Kinda disappointed but it needed to be done. Glad I finally brought her because now I don't have to deal with all her hair until it grows out! My other little poodle mutt needed a hair cut. I wanted it still poofy and trimmed and they did a great job on that. He has behavioral issues with strangers but he didn't bark at any of the workers when they took him. He started walking around the floor area when I picked him up and didn't bark at any of the dogs that were sitting on the floor. I was shocked! My little guard dog likes everyone there! The third dog labrador I have is my brothers that I will be watching until May. They made her smell so nice. She was very happy. Also they gave each dog cute christmas scarves! Happy dogs makes me happy. I am glad I tried Raining Cats and Dogs and I will definitely use them again in the future. read more

That's how this business -Toni Anne decided to "handle" my review on yelp... by sending me private message to vent ...and that is why I am NEVER going back to this place ever again!! Stop attacking customers for your own faults. I can't give you good reviews if you injure my dogs. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!!! Original review: I took my dog to trim her nails today. Well, as soon as they were done, my dog was placed on their counter and that's when I noticed she was bleeding from two of her nails. When I questioned them about how my dog got injured, the lady stated that it happenes sometimes when the dogs' nails are "too long". Seriously? I take my dog to trim her nails once a month and I have never had that problem before. Also, she did not even buffed the nails. They were left all uneven and rough to the touch. She tried to buffed them then and I just said: Don't even bother! You are not touching my dog ever again!! They had the nerve to charge me!! I called my vet right after I left this "business" and she said that this should not have happened (if it was done properly) if you look where the nail's vein ends before cutting it, you will be able to cut it without touching the vein. The worst part was this lady's attitude. She acted as if nothing happened. She did not even mentioned that my dog was bleeding when she was brought her to the counter!! She was so unprofessional!! I'm taking my dog to the vet from now on for nail trims. I will pay more for the service but that's ok. I'm not taking my dog to be injured by these savageI guess you get what you pay for. I went to Raining Cats and Dogs for the 1st time today. Whoever said that Patrick was not a customer service person was mistaken. He is one of the best. My cat, Barnaby, had never been to a groomer. He is 10 years old, and has so much fur that I was living and breathing it. I got a lions cut for him and now we are both happy.
