We hired Tausala Polynesia for our most recent Luxury Home Sunset Showcase to do both the catering and the entertainment. Throughout the process of planning, Unica was incredibly friendly, punctual, and helpful. Whenever we had a question, we would call or text her and she would respond right away with a helpful and caring response. It was evident that she cared about our event as much as we did, and we really appreciated that! The food was over-the-top amazing. Unica helped us put together the most perfect menu including pulled pork, pineapple meatballs, macaroni salad, and other Polynesian food. The meatballs were our personal favorite! Whereas it was a high-end event, she helped us choose displays that fit the luxury environment. An musician played Polynesian music at the beginning of our event. We also had the luau and fire dancers! Between the phenomenal dancing and music (plus the fire!), it was an amazing show! The audience was in awe the entire time! Part of my job is to "make memories" for the children I serve. Unica and her team came and showed my kids an experience that they may never find the equal of. The show was everything we could've hoped for and more. The interaction with some shy (and not-so-shy) middle school students was amazing. Even in moments when the kids didn't quite understand what was happening (there was quite a bit of nervous laughter during the haka), eventually there were smiles and appreciation all around. Throughout Polynesia there is the concept of mana. There were moments that the power of their performance crossed all boundaries and everyone in the audience could not but recognize the special moment they were witnessing. The spirit of aloha informed everything these folks did: smiles and graciousness (even in the face of a few electronic/sound difficulties that were not their fault!) came naturally to all of the performers. The 1 star is for the food and for having gloves on. The event we had was for my niece's 1st birthday. It starts at 12-4 but we've scheduled to come together at 11 to prep. They came strolling in way past 12, we already had some guests arrive, having travelled from Lake Elsinore and also some from San Diego, so they have been waiting for a long minute. Given that our family throwing the party were still getting stuff ready, they came in with this negative energy you can immediately sense right when they went through the doors. The guy helping her brought in a boxed container, literally making a bang & dropping it on the floor. He was acting really grumpy and pissed. We were already displeased because they came way late than expected but to be greeted with this type of attitude is really unacceptable. The girl, instead of being apologetic & apologizing, followed suit. My mom said we have guests here who have been waiting. Yes, granted that the place isn't filled to the brim, but she had the nerve to ask, "where are your guests?" I had to butt in and said, "it doesn't matter whether 1 guest shows up or 200, the point is the food had to be at a certain place at a certain time!" Well, somewhere along those lines. It's not the volume but the principle of keeping the stipulations of the contract. Prior to this, the dad of my niece had dropped $300 as a security deposit since he was asked that, even before the contract was given. Later on the contract, it said just $50 was needed for it, so considering he's given what was asked way more than what's required should have given us some sort of a better customer service experience. But no, we were made to feel like we were an interruption to their business, saying they have other clients. And what were we? Pissed clients, that's what. Anyway, back to the event, she went on to say she'll just take back the food and she'll return the money, even suggested to order from L&L. Seriously? When you've been expected to come sooner and you're strolling in so late, with the guests getting hangry?! This is how you conduct your business? If I could have had a minute to discuss with everyone, we would've agreed and have them take back all the food they've prepared. She continued to say they worked all night to cook everything, that you can't rush food, etc. I'd say that that is part of the business you took on, who would expect any less? If you needed more hands to get the job done, you should have gotten it, instead of telling us you slaved away last night, as if it was our choice! She bragged about having 5 star reviews with all her clients and never had a treatment like this. If you didn't bite off more than you can chew, you wouldn't be going through this and putting other people's special day and event through such a horrible experience. Prepping got me back to being busy and so my focus was half into it by now, until I had to get something from the car. On my way out, I had a brief talk with her to ask where she was traveling from, hoping to hear from afar, just so I can tell her that I understood. She said they just came from down the street. "Whaaat?! Omg, it's ridiculous," I thought to myself. She said the guy left her or something, I tried to be helpful and make sure food gets served ASAP. I went to see if there are any more stuff that needed to get out of the van. The guy comes from out of nowhere, sounded like he was talking loudly with my niece's dad. "I'm not getting paid for this, bro!" And some other grumbling, complaining remarks. This has got to be the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Even not from that perspective but maybe if they were family as well, oh, he would've heard a mouthful! You're a grown man but with an attitude of a 5 year old! Nonetheless, the event had to push through, we had to take this all in, so we went on with it & just worked as best as possible without blowing up. More guests were arriving and the food was still not ready. 1, almost 2 was rolling around & that's when we were finally able to bless the food and have guests serve themselves. Would I give them another chance? Not if they came to us humbly and asked to. For me to go out of my way to ever rely and trusting them again, never. I would NOT recommend having them. If I hear someone considering them at another event, I'd definitely share with them my experience just so they have a more level-headed conversation when dealing, perhaps have a much lesser & more reasonable price tag. Unica was a pleasure to work with as far as what I wanted for my birthday party at a restaurant on the water. I hired one musician/singer and two dancers. The musician, Aaron had a great voice, it went perfect for the party atmosphere. He really went above and beyond and stayed way longer so we could use his sound system after the dancers finished. The dancers were great too and engaged the guests in a routine. They performed dances from the different islands. They were quick to change costumes, were very professional, and stayed as long as we needed to take pictures with them. They also used authentic looking costumes for the dancers, (no mylar "grass" skirts here!) Short review: they were great! Would 100% recommend. I hired Tausala for a yearly backyard Luau I do. Working with them on the phone and via email to figure out exactly what I wanted was super easy and helpful. They performers were super low maintenance as far as what they need from me and everyone was incredibly nice. The show was just flat out amazing. I opted for two Polynesian dancers with a fire show. The whole show lasted about an hour and my guests were incredibly into it. There were several costume changes and a varied amount of dancing with some of my guests being taught some dances in between. The fire finale really blew everyone away and really added a lot to the whole experience. Again could not have been happier and cannot wait for them to do another show for us! read more

I was in search for a Polynesian dance group for my cousin's high school graduation party and came across Tausala Polynesia on Yelp. I read their reviews, researched their website, and contacted the owner Unica. She was probably the first person to get back to me in regards to booking and rates. Very professional. I refereed my aunt to her and my aunt felt more comfortable with hiring them versus other dance groups that gave late responses. We are VERY HAPPY and glad that we booked Tausala Polynesia. We requested a small portion of their group due to the size of the party, so there was about 7 of them, including the 3 drummers. This dance group performed very well, they entertained our crowd the entire time they were on stage. It was a beautiful performance going through all the islands, with all the costume changes. There was never a dull moment. The audience participation was with our young kids since there were a lot of them and it was very entertaining lol. I would definitely book them again for any future events. I highly recommend them for your party or functions, you won't regret it. Unica and Lopati were the two dancers who performed and they could not have done a better job; they entertained all of the students, as well as the teachers and admins. Unica performed at a Hawaiian/Luau-themed bridal shower this weekend and she was AMAZING!! She let us customize the hour session. She did a Hawaiian dance performance and then taught us a traditional hula song, then did an outfit change and did the same thing, but with Tahitian dance! We had a Moana themed birthday party for our 4 and 2-yr old and needed Polynesian entertainment. We contacted bunch of companies providing that service found on yelp, but Unica was the fastest and one of the rare ones to return the call. Every time I spoke to her or emailed she was prompt, professional and easy to talk to. We arranged everything very easily, ended up having her and male dancer/drummer. Few days before the party we touched base to confirm everything. They were prompt, again professional as if they weren't there. My kids were in awe thinking that Moana and Maui came for real. The performance was great, engaging for the kids and adults. They knew exactly when to involve the kids and when the toddlers had enough and had to switch gears.
