    Cloud Cola Latte
    Brian M.

Another great visit to Kai Bar. This time I tried one of their seasonal lattes - Cloud Cola Latte. It was a bit wierd to drink a cola flavored latte, but it was strangely good. We also tried a Lava Glow, which is a bit like the Erewhon Smoothie. It was pretty good. The service was friendly and the vibe continues to be fun,

Obligatory stop when in Kauai. Fast and kind service with delicious breakfast items and wonderful lattes and matcha lattes. I got the iced strawberry matcha latte and surfer girl sandwich which always hits the spot.

The coffee was good and the sandwich were really good. We would for sure come back again if we make it Kauai again.

Came in excited to try out their coffee and acai bowl! Unfortunately, it was mid. Pretty busy place in a nice plaza. Clean and friendly staff. Acai base was okay... It was heavily loaded with granola which made it hard to get acai on the spoon. For drinks, I got the Maui Mocha, which was disappointing. :( Maybe I should try to order other things next time!

    Dirty chai latte

My best friend and I stopped in for a quick bite and coffee and enjoyed everything. We shared the Portuguese sausage sandwich. The smokey romesco was a great touch. We had an iced Mac nut latte and a dirty iced chai. Both were super good. You could tell they were going to be good just by the color! 10/10 recommend Kai Bar and Java Kai next time you are looking for a good coffee spot!

The service was quick and well executed. The food is amazing, and a nice atmosphere to sit and enjoy it all. I highly recommend this place.

Weird place. We came by, took the menu and once we were ready to order, cashier told us that today they have limited menu only. But she saw that we took full menu right in front of her. Why she didn't say anything? Then she gave us number and said that they will bring food to us. They did, but not the coffee (she didn't say anything about it). Guy who brought food said that coffee is at the corner and he will bring it, but he didn't. As for the food, I didn't expect pesto to be white, but that's fine. It was too much anyway for the toast - too fatty.

Ordered the blended Mac nut latte and iced Mac nut latte, it was delicious it reminded me of Dutch bros macadamia but more flavorful and creamier. Also had their banana bread. Thought it needed to be more moist but it had good flavor . McKenna was the one that helped us at the register and she was great. Really friendly and had a great attitude!the place was very clean. They sold some merchandise also. Will definitely come back when we're in the area

I went here many times during our trip--the food was delicious and the drinks were perfect every time. I really enjoyed the strawberry matcha and the coffee. I tried as many drinks as I could, and every single one was amazing. The Wired Monkey ice-blended drink was definitely my favorite! Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area.

My husband and I stopped in here for breakfast and thought it was super adorable. I love the designs on their cups. The whole vibe is cool. I ordered the surfer girl sandwich and an iced Maui mocha. My husband got the cro-Sean-wich and an iced maple latte. We sat down after ordering and the girl IMMEDIATELY brought out our food. We said it couldn't be ours since we had ordered a minute ago. She said no it is yours and walked away. We looked at the receipt on the box and it had been ordered about 20 minutes earlier. My husband approached them in the kitchen to make sure it was in fact our food. We had also asked for no tomatoes on one and they both came out with tomatoes, so we were fairly certain it wasn't ours. They ended up explaining that someone else had placed an online order and it should've been marked no make but it wasn't so they made it. They had just happened to order the same thing as us without the modifications, so they wanted to give it to us to not waste any food. I have no problem with them giving us this order since I'm all for not wasting food, but I thought it was really weird that this wasn't communicated up front especially since that food had been made 20 minutes prior. We ended up keeping it since it was still warm and we weren't really given an option. My husband LOVED his iced maple latte. I thought the Maui mocha was good. We would definitely go back for the coffee and the food. It felt like we just happened to have a bit of a weird experience with the service.

My favorite cafe of all cafes Ive ever been to. They have the best menu with so many food and drink options you can't go wrong with. During the fall they have a speciality drink menu and I tried their iced rise of the chai which is pumpkin spiced chai with espresso. It's absolutely delicious. Their iced matcha is also tasty (I added their banana breeze syrup). The lava glow smoothie is A1. If you want a savory sandwich get their housemade portuguese sausage and egg sando, it's yummy!! Always great service here and plenty of seating inside and out.

This was our first visit to Kai Bar in Kilauea after having been to the Java Kai and Kai Bar location in Kapa'a on this trip and our previous one in 2016. We loved our experience enough to come here from our condo in Princeville a total of three times, which happened to fill up our punchcard just like our visit in 2016 in Kapa'a. :) The coffee is great, but if you want food, go for the Surfer Girl sandwich, just like just about everyone says. It is likely the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had in my life, and I don't say things like that lightly. So tasty. We used our completed punchcard on one of the expensive smoothies, and we loved it. The service is friendly, and they have a light, bright environment. There's a sufficient number of tables inside and out. If you sit outside, they helpfully provide water squirt bottles so that you can use them to shoo the sometimes aggressive feral chickens away from your table. (We didn't have as much trouble with them here as we did at a restaurant across the street that doesn't have squirt bottles, so perhaps the chickens have learned where they can go and not get "shot." Ha!) Kai Bar isn't cheap (and neither are very many other coffeehouses), but as we can attest, they are worth the visit.

Bright colors, outdoor seating, and tropical inspiration added to the menu. Their coffee was SO GOOD. And the dishes we tried were delicious as well. The ambiance really makes this place great and this staff is well trained and great at their jobs. There was a line when we got there and a line when we left, so I would assume that's pretty typical. Expect a rush but enjoy the wait because it's worth it.

No xbloom pour-overs being served, so I settled for pre-made drip. The barista was friendly enough but couldn't tell me anything about the coffees on her own menu -- origin, roast, process, nothing. She recommended a mac nut latte for my partner, which felt less like a recommendation and more like the only thing she was sure of. The drip came out fast and hot. That's the last nice thing I have to say. The latte comes from a second window, where a different employee was actively hostile. Busy morning, so I asked if the drink was mine. She snapped that my name was written on the cup. It was -- facing her. I was apparently supposed to read it through the cup. Here's the real problem: someone clearly put thought into the roasting side of this business, and then handed the entire customer-facing operation to people who received no training whatsoever. Not in the coffee, not in basic hospitality. You can teach someone to smile. You can teach them to answer a question without contempt. Nobody bothered. Average coffee, worse service, priced for people who won't be back anyway -- and given the volume of visitors, that model probably works fine for them. It won't work for me. Kauai has cafés run by people who are genuinely obsessed with what they're doing. Go find one of those. Serious coffee drinkers should walk right past this place.

I ordered a hot matcha latte with oat milk, and the matcha already comes pre-sweetened per the barista. It tastes very similar to Starbucks matcha, not horrible but not great either. A little too sweet for my liking and not enough of the matcha flavor comes through. The color also wasn't the correct shade of green for good quality matcha, but I'm someone who likes to make my matcha at home and rarely find ones at coffee shops that I actually like, so take my review with that in mind, if you're a casual matcha drinking then you would like their version. It doesn't dry your tongue out or have a bitter taste. The following day I decided to try their coffee and ordered a hot vanilla oat milk latte. It was just okay, the espresso is a little more on the acidic side and I couldn't taste any vanilla flavor. Definitely not the worst latte I've had in Hawaii, but for the cost of lattes nowadays, I wouldn't come back to try more of their menu until I try other local coffee shops first. Pros: Plenty of parking right out front, good amount of seating inside, clean bathrooms, wifi, they sell their coffee beans and merchandise including shirts and hats which are super cute, there is also a small shop inside the same building that sells clothing/candles/bags/etc and the store employee is super nice
