I love that Kaia studios offer both heated and non-heated classes. The instructors are knowledgeable, warm and welcoming.

I did a warm yoga class on a Friday evening. I absolutely loved every bit of it. The ambiance with the low lighting and humidifier's smell in the room immediately made me relaxed and the instructor, Gina, was lovely. I was sore for days but in a great way, I'm in good shape but the class definitely worked a lot of muscles I don't use. Also, everyone, people on the phone, the teacher, the other students, were all so very nice. read more

Terrible customer service. I was misled at the front desk and they signed me up for an auto renewable membership. When I attempted to correct the error, they were completely unaccommodating. Be careful when purchasing classes and watch out for your charges on your credit card. read more

Pros: The space itself is beautiful and peaceful located in a serene part of town. It is clean and one has plenty of room to practice - spacious. There is one teacher I like a lot and a couple of others whose class I could take. Cons: Check in is slow and antiquated. They search and search for your name and finally you are given an old beat up card that you must give to the teacher - like in a gym if you are taking a class. If you wave at them and try to slip past the people ahead of you trying to check in you are told you must wait for your card. Really? How about an ipad you can tap after you sign in online posted on the wall to avoid the fuss and wait? Teachers do not ask your permission to adjust you and just assume they can. After telling one teacher I may not follow all she says as I had a couple of injuries I was being careful with - she came behind me in the middle of class to adjust my hips. After that, pushes my hips down when I was in downward facing dog and my back went into spasm. NO awareness or respect for me knowing what I am doing. It isn't that I am being that guy who doesn't like to be told what to do but that I know my body and I am trying to avoid injury. It is pricey compared to other studios. $149 per month is a lot for the level of teaching I have experienced here. They say it is for "all studios" but I will never drive to the others and there is no option for just Pemberwick ($110 per month for ex). A yoga studio 20 minutes away has a $99 per month if you sign on after your one month trial is up and makes it easy for you to be a member and go regularly. That being said if you find the right teacher and just go a few times a month it is worth it. read more

Moving to a new city comes with some challenges...and one of my biggest was finding a good yoga studio. Hard to compare to my first yoga love in Boston but am glad to have found Kaia. It sits in a really nice area, the Mill, that is tucked away. There's a stream with a waterfall, lots of greenery, and it's just simply pretty peaceful. There are two studios, a cafe, and showers/dressing rooms. The vinyasa classes were great. I especially started to like Gina's 6am classes on Tuesday and Thursdays. What a great way to start your morning! And you get free coffee which is some pretty damn good coffee too. They play some music which I like too. I did the $30 for 30 days new student special. Unfortunately I just can't afford the full memberships so hopefully they'll do some season deals at some point! read more

I've brand new to yoga and have been trying to get into it for the past year. Kaia offers an amazing $30 for 30 days of unlimited classes and being a poor college student I jumped on that. I am very impressed so far by every class I've been to and the instructors are really excellent. They make sure that everyone is getting the poses properly and if you let them know you're new they'll make sure to keep an eye on you. I may revise this review once I experience other yoga studios but I think this is a great place to get started with your practice. There are tons of basics classes and other beginner style to classes to try out. I love the unlimited aspect of the $30 for 30 deal because I want to try everything to see what I like. Yin is my favorite because it's more about poses that have a deep stretch, which is something I love. It's a relaxing class while still being very challenging. At one point I did accidentally go to an Intermediate Vinyasa class and it was pretty difficult seeing as I'd only been to six classes before that but the instructor was so great and made sure that if you weren't up for poses that you tried but if you couldn't handle it that was ok. She just wanted to make sure everyone tried the more advanced at least once, because you never know. The Basic Vinyasa classes are excellent and definitely challenging, they're never the same. I particularly like the instructor at 10am on Saturdays, she really tried to get to know everyone in the class and help you out based on how your body can work in the poses. Overall, if you're new to yoga I think this is an excellent place to start, the classes are very inviting and the instructors are great. Plus, how can you pass up such an amazing deal? read more

Not sure on the other reviews but this place was poorly organized and will never go back. Signed up for a class the morning of and was told it was all good to go and then showed up with my son for the class (mommy and me) and they canceled it...and gave no apology or anything. Not sure why they couldn't of communicated that earlier or replied to the original inquiry but that is just awful. read more

After practicing yoga for several years I can still say with confidence that Kaia is the best studio I have ever been to. I am holding out hope they will open a studio in NYC because now I rarely get to Kaia and haven't found a place in the city that really compares. I was new to yoga a few years back and began taking a variety of classes. All the instructors were knowledgeable and made adjustments when needed. I built a strong yoga foundation thanks to the instructors here. Some of my favorite classes included Basics with Miranda DeSantis and Iyengar with Mike Milverstad and enjoyed Gina's classes well. My favorite part about the studio is that they teach an amazing Yin Yoga class which is difficult to find. Some nights we would have live music which was amazing. Also, I have gotten juices/smoothies from the juice bar many times and have done a 3 day juice cleanse on several times which I highly recommend. I take yoga in NYC primarily and consistently struggle to find great instructors. The price for the quality they provide makes this a great place to enhance or start your yoga practice. I will always hope they'll open an NYC location because the city lacks a studio that offers a variety of classes with top notch instructors. read more

I live and practice in the city but visit Greenwich often and thought I'd give Kaia Yoga a try. I wasn't sure how it would measure up to my home studio (Joschi), but Kathy's Vinyasa Intermediate class delivered! Nice studio, excellent instruction and flow, nice fellow students. Joined when there was the Ashtanga Primary Led series 3 times a week, and then it was moved to another location so started following Vinyasa teachers who are great, Lexy, Julie and Hiromi but am getting frustrated again with constant subbing of teachers. Many teachers have left, and you literally have to check the schedule before going to class to see if they substituted at the last minute. Another problem is the class level, you expect an intermediate class and it turns into a beginner class depending on who attends. Really hard to get a good and regular practice going with the constant level and instructor changes. Waiting out my package and then will not join again. read more

I recently moved in the area and was looking for a good studio to start a regular yoga routine. As a runner, I've been plagued with lower leg injuries and yoga is the only thing that I found to help. I tried out a lot of area studios and instructors, but Kaia offered the most convenient class times and a plethora of options. I loved the $30 month long trial period so much that I joined with the unlimited plan. The studio has a juice and food bar, clean bathrooms, showers and some merchandise. I'm a newbie and I find the instructors to be very helpful and welcoming to beginners. I particularly like Mike's Foundations class, yin yoga, vinyasa basic, and hot vinyasa basic/intermediate. The two studios are large, bright and clean. While it is certainly not the most inexpensive studio in the area, I think the quality of the instructors and studios, the number and variety of classes offered makes it worth the cost. I have never reviewed anything on Yelp before, but I really love this place. The all organic juice bar, also has really good food options, and I am so glad not be drinking juiced pesticides. It is owned by a husband and wife team who happened to be there the day I came in, they were friendly and helpful and steered me in the direction of good classes for a tight guy just starting out. Love this yoga studio! They offer a great range of classes with well-educated and varied instructors. Especially love Julia and Lexy. Their hot-yoga room has been having some issues so it's not really that warm. Would give it 5 stars if this were fixed. Most of the front desk staff are wonderful except one who did not handle the pre-class rush gracefully. read more

I can only comment on the Greenwich location but I was truly shocked by the lack of welcome given to a new customer who set foot in the clean, well lit studio for the very first time. The two young women working in the cafe could not have been colder or more dismissive. Their attitude totally turned me off to the place and, though I'd been planning to sign up for a multi visit pass, I decided to go elsewhere -- anywhere -- even though Kaia is the closest yoga studio to my home. I hope the owners read this and give their employees a lesson in gracious hospitality. read more

The quality of the classes is good, but there should be a minimum number of participants allowed in a session. I was in a class with over 20 people crammed into the studio with only a few inches between mats. This made it hard to move. I would have to agree with Jessica that the welcome could be warmer. read more

So the addition of Mysore Ashtanga for the entire morning every weekday at the Greenwich location completely changed my experience at Kaia. The schedule no longer works for me, and the teachers who used to teach those classes seems to have mostly moved on (Laurie Jordan is a notable exception, but I can rarely make her class as scheduled). So now I mostly practice elsewhere. I could I suppose try one of their other locations, but it would involve a good extra half hour of travel round trip for me. Realistically that's not gonna happen either. It was good while it lasted, and if I took to Mysore Ashtanga, it still would be. But its not my style... It is what it is; Stan and Gina are welcome to run their business as they wish. But it no longer works for me... read more

I love going to yoga here. Kaia Yoga has fabulous teachers and offerings. I've so far been to this, the Westport and Old Greenwich locations and I keep coming back. It's so rare to find a yoga studio that offers more than vinyasa classes and downward dogs. Sometimes you want variety, and Kaia Yoga offers just that. There's restorative, gentle, and rope wall yoga. I love all three. So relaxing. Deep opening postures. Alignment and body work. And the energy is great. When I find my zen mode, I feel like I'm transported back to that sunny world, where its tropical and clean, and the ocean breeze brushes against your face. Having these iyengar style classes is such a gem, especially considering that there are only a handful in NYC, and we have just as many in Fairfield County CT. I also enjoy their hot yoga classes, especially in the winter. It's not so crazy hot that I feel feint, but hot enough to just feel good and warm in a tanktop. Well, I would highly recommend this place to any newcomer. You can't beat their newcomer 30 days unlimited yoga for $30 deal. read more
