My mother and I arrived 30 minutes before class since we did not know what to expect or if it would be crowded. About 15 minutes before class, a woman came down the stairs. Not knowing if she was the owner, or another classmate, we asked her if we were in the right place for class. A terse "yes" was all she managed, before unlocking the door and walking right past us. Clearly, we were new to the studio. But the owner/instructor never asked our names, our experience level or familiarity with Bikram, or did anything to make us feel comfortable and welcome. After she breezed by us and into the studio, we waited outside before poking our heads in, afraid to enter before she was ready. Tack on the OUTRAGEOUS $22 per class fee, and I was less than thrilled before class started and she began barking commands, military-style. Her 10-pack class "discount" is insulting. You save a whopping .50 cents per class. Maybe it's just me, but carpet floors in Bikram/sweaty classes gross me out. How often could you possibly clean it? It was one of the stinkiest rooms I have ever been in, and I frequent a range of sweaty classes. In the entryway, there is a notice posted which asks students to refrain from gossip (as it's often unfounded and unproductive) and criticizing the classroom temperature and instructor. I found this last bit curious before class, and outright hilarious after class. It's as if she's telling you to refrain from unleashing the "smack talk" you undoubtedly have bottled up inside. At the end of the day, this is a business. And it seems the owner has either forgotten or doesn't care that a goal of a successful business is to acquire new clients and encourage their continued patronage. Frosty demeanor + stinky/unsanitary classroom + militaristic teaching style + lack of music/ambiance +outrageous price = NOT WORTH IT. Maybe I've been living in Texas too long, but the lack of any kind of social graces is a deal-breaker.

I took weekly prenatal yoga classes with Sarah, Dee and Judi from 12 weeks right up until my water broke. Not only did these weekly sessions help with the physical afflictions that are inevitable with pregnancy (including my horrific sciatic pain), but they helped keep my mind in the right place and prepared me for labor in both body and mind. Hearing from and being around other pregnant women each week was comforting -- like a little mini pregnancy support group. I truly looked forward to these classes and still miss them today. Dee's Yoga for Labor class not only provided me with critical tips about how to ease the pains of contraction and pushing and keep my mind calm throughout labor, but gave my husband a sense of purpose and turned him into the most spectacular labor coach. The community that I found at Prana during pregnancy has become my mom community, too. We all have our babies now and support each other online and some still see each other in person, too. When I (hopefully) get pregnant again, I will be back for weekly classes! I can't say enough good things about Sarah, Dee and Judi. Thank you, ladies, for the comfort and perspective you've brought me and so many others during this amazing time of change and growth!

I approached the situation calmly, simply trying to point out that unsafe conditions in a parking lot could lead to someone getting hurt. The response I received was repeatedly being told to "get out," with no attempt to acknowledge or address the concern. At that point, it became clear that member safety and basic professionalism were not being handled the way they should be. I am no longer a member. I hope the business takes steps to address the parking lot conditions and improves how it responds to legitimate concerns in the future.

Their late policy is absolute: arrive even one minute past your class time and you will be locked out and charged -- no exceptions, including unforeseen circumstances. They do not answer their phone and do not accept voicemail, so there is no way to reach anyone in real time if something goes wrong. If you have time blindness, executive function challenges, ADHD, Cptsd, or a highly sensitive nervous system, this studio is not designed with you in mind. It is not trauma-informed, and the environment does not accommodate neurodivergence in any meaningful way. For those who need consistency and predictability, it's also worth knowing they have modified the traditional hot yoga sequence -- so what you practice here may not be what you expect. The waitlist system is also poorly communicated; you may not know you've been moved from a class you reserved until it's too late to plan around it. Beyond logistics, the atmosphere feels cold and unwelcoming -- though I'll leave it to others to determine how much of that is the studio versus the region. This studio is BUSINESS FOCUSED rather than CUSTOMER focused, which contributes to the stressed, unfriendly state of the world today. There are wonderful yoga communities out there that lead with warmth and genuine flexibility. This one, in my experience, is not among them.

Because it was my first time at the studio I was able to use a mat and towel for free, I believe they rent them for a low fee. The only place for improvement would be front desk, the young lady greeted me with a smile and was very nice and responsive. I've visited other studios where I felt welcomed as a first timer and was given a tour of where everything goes and where everything is located and that level of service didn't happen here.

When you are really old and not in the best of shape (although I have always been athletic) it can be intimidating and depressing to show up at a studio filled with young people who look like goddesses, but from the very first class I felt welcomed and more importantly the instructors didn't think I was nuts. Barre is hard, very confusing at first and so fast, but good news, just about the time, I am ready to give up the class is over. The instructors make it all possible. They never let you doubt you can do it and improve. Since I started in October, going six days a week, I have lost ten pounds, but more importantly, I am seeing real results which keep me going. Ashley, the owner, runs a terrific studio with all kinds of thoughtful touches, like a charging station and a great selection of clothes and the ever-critical socks. Ashley heads up a group of instructors about whom I can't say enough. My daughter who turned me on to Barre in DC plans her workouts around specific teachers she likes, avoiding those she doesn't like as much. At Pure Barre Greenwich, the instructors are all equally good, each with differences, but never a disappointment. I give Pure Baree five stars and urge anyone in the Greenwich area to give it a try. I would recommend that you take a few classes back to back to get the hang of the system which will help you get into the groove and keep you from feeling overwhelmed.
